We spent our honeymoon on Kiawah Island for a week and loved this condo right on the ocean. Everything about it was perfect. It felt so clean and we loved the updated kitchen. The bedrooms were very large and quite comfortable. With it being to close to Fresh Fields Village, we decided to eat many meals there and they were delicious. Even though it was still a little chilly, we loved to go on the beach which was right out our back door. Perfection. We will definitely be going back here. We had an amazing time.

My family and I stayed in this rental villa during the week of Thanksgiving. Kiawah is beautiful at this time of the year. The water was still relatively warm, and the weather was perfect. There were lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy on the island, yet the beaches and restaurants were uncrowded. This villa was beautifully decorated and very clean. It was quite comfortable for our family of six. We spent most of our days with at least one trip to the beach, and it was a very easy walk from the back door of the villa to the sands of the beach. We loved our stay here and love Kiawah Island. We will definitely consider staying in this villa again for our future vacations to Kiawah.

My family and I have been coming to Kiawah for over 10 years and this is one of the nicer units we have stayed in - clean, nice bedding & furniture, plenty of towels, well decorated & good bedroom space. The master sits at the far end providing privacy and the middle bedroom has two queen beds and is a good size. TV in each room and DVD players as well. Although you can't see the ocean from the unit, you can hear it & you have a lovely backyard area w/ flowers and trees. VERY easy and fast access to the beach! Condo is close to the Fresh Fields shopping center for easy shopping and eating, etc. We plan to come to stay in this unit again! Thanks for a wonderful week at the beach! For those of you new to Kiawah - around sunset, take a right on the beach and about a 25 mins walk to the end, you can watch the dolphins come in and feed (beautiful sunsets)! Enjoy!

The property was basically clean and well appointed. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were great. The dishwasher leaked when we first used it, but Beachwalker maintenance came by and fixed it the next day. My only concern were that there were giant roaches in the condo. They were mostly dead, so they had obviously sprayed, but still they were disgusting. Then we found a live one in the refrigerator! Gross! I think it was due to the rain. The beach was close and very nice. We went dolphin watching at Bohicket Marina. It was great. So all in all it was a pretty good stay.

Owner response: Thank you for an honest review Michele, I can always tell when a guest is from up North like we are. My wife and I are also from Chicago, and I remember the first time we visited Kiawah back in 1995, we had the same shocking look. They are actually Palmetto Bugs though, the Palmetto tree being the State tree and on the SC Flag. Yes they look gross, but they are harmless, and a staple of the barrier Islands. We spray once a month for them and normally guests don't encounter a single one. I think you're right, with Hurricane Deby and all the rain that she unleashed they were seeking higher ground.

Just spent 2 spectacular weeks at Shipwatch in Kiawah. People told us that Kiawah was beautiful, but we had no idea just how beautiful! This condo is delightful! Very well stocked with everything that you need. (we really appreciated the beach chairs)! First floor was so convenient, and you get the extra enjoyment of having deer in your backyard! Loved Freshfields Village! It had everything that we needed, and the restaurants were great!Would definitely recommend this as a great vacation! Can't wait to go back!

Great Place to relax. Very Clean and very comfortable. Well appointed and well maintained. Owner great to work with. Beachwalker rentals good to work with also. This unit is as close to the beach as you can get. If you have trouble walking stairs, this unit is on the ground floor with no stairs. Wildlife come right up to the back door. If you are a golfer, you can walk to Cougar Golf Course. Easy to get in and out of the Island. Good easy bike ride or jog to the FreshField market area. Would highly recommend.

After many trips to visit my daughter (College of Charleston) with downtown stays, I decided to make it a beach vacation. What a great decision! I was hoping for relaxation with beautiful scenery and all my expectations were met. The weather was picture perfect, the beaches were occupied, but not crowded, and the villa had everything we needed and more. Very comfortable and clean, situated in walking distance to the beach (steps away), dining and shopping and only a short drive to the grocery and more shopping. As others have noted, there are games and books, tvs (with cable), internet, but most enjoyable, the decks for sitting and enjoying the sounds of the ocean and watching monarchs feet away on their migration to Mexico. Can't wait to go back!

This villa was wonderful! It was the perfect getaway for a long weekend. We loved sitting on the decks listening to the ocean. The boardwalk that led down to the beach was literally right out the back door. We rented bikes from Alligator Bikes which were there on our arrival. The condo was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We hope to make it back again. Thanks for a great vacation!

What a lovely place to spend a week! Not only was the villa as nice as described, but we were pleasantly surprised to find beach chairs on the deck for our use, lots of beach floats and buckets, and even beach towels in the closet. Great cable in every room. Just the perfect place to relax amid an incredible expanse of nature. The kitchen had everything that you would need, even appetizer spreaders, one of the items we never find in a vacation rental! I was also impressed by the personal attention that both the owner and the rental agency showed to us. The contact before, during, and after our trip shows a concern for satisfaction. Although this was our first trip to Kiawah, it won't be our last! Just hope that this villa will be available next time we venture to South Carolina.

Condo was as described when we initially saw it on the net. Clean, well kept, books to read, games to play, chairs for the beach, comfortably layed out, deer eating flowers just off the main porch and easily accessed. Thanks for sharing with us.

My family and I enjoyed staying in this gorgeous villa for our week-long vacation. The villa is beautiful - even better than the photos! We go to Kiawah at least once every year and love staying in Shipwatch, but since our family friend sold his villa, we have been looking for a new place to stay at Kiawah. Well, our search is over! The villa is spacious, with lots of updated touches throughout. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you may need during your stay. We enjoyed watching deer from the balconies and listening to the ocean, which is only a few steps away. In short, this is the perfect place to stay on Kiawah!

My family of four and I (children 5 and 3) just returned from a great week at this fine Shipwatch villa. We wish we still were there! We have been coming to Kiawah for years and found this unit to be exceptionally clean, comfortably furnished, and in a perfect spot. We especially appreciated the very short walk across the boardwalk to the ocean, the deck where we relaxed after the kids were in bed under the palm trees enjoying the ocean breeze and sound of the waves, the ready access to bike trails, and being practically next door to Scooper's Ice Cream shop in West Beach Village. Moreover, our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. We appreciate their hospitality and recommend this rental greatly.

Great location! Villa is on the ocean side of the building with direct access to the beach from the back porch door of the villa, which was wonderful. Nice grassy area right out the back door and easy to park your bikes at the back door of the unit - no elevator, no stairs, really convenient. We stayed for 3 weeks. The villa is comfortable and had everything we needed. The owners were very responsive in making reservations and cared that we had a wonderful stay. Thank you!

What more can we say. . .we loved our stay at this condo. We have visited Kiawah before and this condo was wonderful. Everything the owner said was provided was at the condo. We even had received an email to welcome us to the condo. The condo was clean, stocked and ready for us to arrive. My family asked when we could come back. The owners do a great job to make it feel like home. Thanks for a great vacation. Allen and Lisa Willis Tipp City, Ohio

In a word, "WOW." Always a gamble in optimism choosing to stay in rental unseen in the physical. My in-laws from Dublin came to visit in May 2010. We wanted to offer them sunshine and relaxation, given the inclement weather of Ireland. Delving through dozens of possible rentals we choose this Oceanfront 2 BR Villa on Kiawah. How & apropos to use "Spectacular" as an adjective. We all fell in love with this condo and will certainly return. Owners readily responded to requests or inquiries. As my FIL said, "this is the most amazing place I've ever been." I cannot recommend highly enough both this condo in particular and Kiawah Island in general. Safe, secure and after a day, it felt like home and decidedly NOT a rental. Do not hesitate in choosing this oasis for your vacation stay. Kiawah is the most beautiful beach I've ever seen in terms of walking, swimming (it's still the Atlantic Ocean so a bit chilly) and I'm a seasoned Caribbean traveler. Great for couples, a romantic stay, family get-away and a wonderful beach for kids of all ages as the surf is generally calm. Kiawah is a nature's paradise and Shipwatch is the perfect vantage point to explore the area.

The Villa: I researched lots of condos, villas, and private homes before selecting this villa and I'm so glad I spent the time to find the perfect location. The home is very comfortably appointed - I particularly like having two queen beds in the second bedroom instead of twins or even fulls. That was perfect! We loved the screen doors and porches that allow every room to feel a breeze and hear the ocean. The unit is perfectly situated in the building for easy access to the parking lot, free laundry room, trash room, and most importantly - the beach. In other properties I looked at, you would need to ride a bike to the beach. Not here! Also, the property is perfectly situated on the island - within a short walking distance to a shopping area with a restaurant, cafe, and ice cream parlor; and an easy bike ride to a convenience store; and a longer but definitely enjoyable bike ride to larger shopping areas, the nature center, The Sanctuary resort, parks and ponds. The main bike path that covers the island is just across the street from the property and easy to access. Alligator Bikes, that the owner and management company recommended, was wonderful and the bikes were already there when we got there and ready to go. Both the owner and the management company were extremely helpful and wanted to do everything they could to make our stay perfect. I will definitely stay in this villa again. The Island: If you've never been to Kiawah Island before, you are missing out! We so enjoyed the natural setting, the peaceful quietness, and the lack of commercialism. The 5 championship golf courses are beautiful scenery even though I don't play golf! The Nature Center, a free visit on the island, was fun and very informative. They even have animals that they have rescued and are caring for. We saw lots of wildlife in their own natural habitat, including alligators, bunnies, frogs, lizards, squirrels, birds, shellfish, etc. I even found my first ever sand dollar on the beach and we collected several whelk shells (like conchs.) My favorite part of the island is being able to ride the bike everywhere, including on the beach. I parked my car the first night and that was it! The beach is beautiful and there is a chair service that is very convenient, also. I can not wait to go back!!

We have wanted to visit Kiawah for some time as we love the Charleston area.We did a ton of research online looling for just the right condo and location. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. The condo is in a perfect location and is beautifully supplied with everything a guest would need. As previous guests have said, the owner and partner realty company are most attentive and address any issue immediately. A week was not long enough....island was even more beautiful than we had imagined. We biked, walked, sat, biked, walked, ate, sat.........weather was perfect every day. We found a wonderful cafe on Seabrook Island ( Rosebank Farms Cafe ) as well as all that was available at nearby Freshfields. Having Aligator Bikes drop off and pick up the bikes at the condo was a wonderful convenience. Shipwatch condos are well maintained and location can't be beat. Saw deer right off the balcony. We absolutely will be returning but for a much longer stay. There is still so much to see! Thanks to Matt for being such a big help.

After pouring over lots of listings for Kiawah I knew I picked the right property when I received a very nice note from the owner with lots of helpful details before we even left on our trip. This was our first visit to Kiawah and the villa was in a little slice of paradise! Tastefully decorated, clean, and comfortable and with every amenity you can think of, we truly enjoyed our stay. We also appreciated the well stocked bookshelf! The private balconies were lovely and it really is just a few steps to the beautiful beach. Deer came to visit multiple times within 100 ft. Sunrise is spectacular. The villa is part of a larger complex but it is very quiet and nicely secluded. You will appreciate the free washer and dryer room just around the corner from this unit - came in very handy when my sons decided to dive into the water fully clothed after running on the beach. The kayaking trips and programs offered through the nature center are well worth it as is Magnolia Plantation and a trip into Charleston. Bulldog tours offer some wonderful walking tours of the historic city. Biking on the beach is highly recommended. For seafood we enjoyed the Carolina Crab House. We're going to make a visit to Kiawah an annual spring tradition and we know where we're staying.

This was our first time on Kiawah, and we absolutely loved it. Everything was picture perfect from the cozy condo, where we could hear the waves to the fabulous restaurants, amazing landscapes, and miles of trails. We had a great time seeing the dolphins and alligators too. The condo was tastefully decorated with all of the little extras to make the vacation less stressful - cooler, sand toys, beach towels, novels, board games, etc. We also found both the owner and management company very helpful and responsive. We are already planning our next trip there in the autumn!

I spent about 5 days pouring over rental options for our trip from Atlanta to Kiawah for the marathon this past weekend. I looked at nearly 300 photos, read at least 75 reviews, and worried if where I was looking was the “right” place. Everyone wants their get-away location to be near perfect…ample space, easy access to the beach, well equipped kitchen, and beds/linens that make your nights as easy and relaxing as your days. We found all of this in this rental! The ground floor location and easy access made unloading and loading a breeze. The property is beautiful, quiet, secluded, and the accommodations were perfect. The living room, and both bedrooms had an entire wall of doors that opened to patios and dunes, and the beach was only a 60 second walk from the villa. We all agreed that the quilts, crisp linens and duvet covered down comforters made it feel like home! While we enjoyed exploring the island it was so nice to have the Straw Market’s restaurants and shops within walking distance. It was also a quick 5 minute drive to Freshfields Village where there was an amazing grocery store, outfitters, and various shops and eateries. I’ve not been to Kiawah in years, but another trip is already in the works- and while we don’t yet have the date set, we know the exact Shipwatch location we will be staying!

It was nice having easy access to the beach by walking out the back door. We have been going to Kiawia Island for fifteen years and this was one of the nicest villas we have stayed in. Two thumbs up.
