Take advantage of this unique opportunity to enjoy many amenities similar to what you find at a resort, but within a private, intimate setting! Rainbow Bay is a small gated lakefront community developed in 2002 on 40 lush, tropical acres tucked away on the shores of Lake Arenal. Located 1/3 mile from the highway, all roads leading to the property are asphalt and concrete for easy access--no rough back roads to drive on. The spacious grounds are kept beautifully manicured and are landscaped with hundreds of tropical flower plants, fruit trees and a towering canopy of trees, all of which welcome an abundance of wildlife, including dozens of bird species, butterflies and howler monkeys. This is truly a private and peaceful paradise! Our small complex has a private dock (just steps from our door), two swimming pools (you can also swim in the lake), two tennis courts, one covered and screened to enjoy in most weather conditions, and two poolside cabanas, both with restrooms and one with a wet bar, a library of books, exercise equipment, table tennis and a gas grill. The town of Nuevo Arenal, just 2 miles away, is small and personable with fewer tourists than the neighboring towns of LaFortuna and Tilaran, and can supply you with most of your daily needs.
You may be content to spend your entire stay at Rainbow Bay, basking in the beautiful tropical surroundings, the peacefulness of the setting, watching the birds or enjoying the many amenities at your fingertips. But if you desire to see more of the surrounding area and experience the many adventures available, there are many activities conveniently located nearby, including the active Arenal Volcano (on a clear day, you can see if from the top of our hill), the Tabacon Hot Springs and Spa, Monteverde and Cano Negro National Parks, canopy tours, zip lines, hanging bridges, waterfalls, rafting, horseback riding, kayaking and windsurfing, fishing and boat tours, hiking and more. Many day trips can be arranged through companies located in Nuevo Arenal or LaFortuna, about 30 miles away.
Our building is a high-quality concrete structure with modern features and all the comforts of home. There are three units in our two-story building and our unit is on the second floor. It is very private and the views of both the lake and the grounds are gorgeous. The delightful covered balcony is lakeside and furnished with table, chairs and loveseat. It is one of our favorite places for eating our meals, reading and relaxing. Our treetop balcony is also the perfect place for birdwatching. Inside you will find a living and dining room with lake views, a comfortable sleeper sofa for extra sleeping space,satellite television and DVD player. There is also a breakfast bar. The kitchen is full-size, modern and fully equipped. Adjoining the kitchen is a laundry room with washer, dryer and washtub for your personal use. Quality towels and linens are furnished. Just bring your clothes and personal items (hair dryer furnished), and you'll have everything you need! During those cool nights with soft breezes, you will sleep comfortably in the spacious bedroom. A full wall of closets allows you to unpack your bags and store your belongings. The unit is not air conditioned because most of the time it is unnecessary, but if you get uncomfortably warm, a floor fan is provided. The tiled bathroom has a large walk-in shower, vanity and medicine cabinet. Vaulted ceilings and many of the walls are covered in Costa Rican hardwoods, and the entire kitchen, bathroom and floors have beautiful imported ceramic tiles.

We would recommend this place highly. The caretaker was fantastic, the owner of the Lucky Bug Gallery and Restaurant next door is a sweetheart (beyond being a great cook!) and everything was as described and pictured. The owner was helpful in our trip preparation and planning as well. And, yes, there are fish in Lake Arenal, we caught some!
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children.

My wife and I spent the first week of our honeymoon in Costa Rica at this wonderful condo. The property manager Ed was very nice and on top of things. The whole property was amazing and we were very pleased with everything. Thanks again for a great stay!
