Accommodations: Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
Keywords: Flat
A charming apartment for experts entirely wood made by the sure touch of a local old craftsman – Sir Fausto – who lived and worked in “Campo de’ Fiori” area at the beginning of the twentieth century. The apartment is especially cozy because of the recent remodeling.
The “Bollo” is a magic, enchanting place; It will be like living on a boat in the heart of the city, far from any noise even you are less than one hundred meters far from Campo de’ Fiori where every morning (except on Sunday), starting from the dawn, you can see the most characteristic and coloured market of flowers, fruit and vegetables in the city.
The “Bollo” is a perfect lovely nest, enriched by its ancient vault-ceiling, the original sixteenth century peperino-marble capitals (peperino is a volcano tuff which is grey with black little grains like peppergrains; this kind of stone is found in the Albani hills near Rome), the porthole-windows – in peperino marble as well – which belonged to the ancient fifteenth century convent, basis of the recent building.
The apartment consists of one room perfectly acclimatized (air conditioned) and endowed with an elegant cooking alcove (where guests will find everything necessary for cooking as well as a variety of breakfast beverages).
The flat can accommodate up to four people; the two sleeping areas furnished with refined upholstery and both fitted with a comfortable double bed are positioned on two typical wooden lofts which look each other, reached by two staircase-wardrobes that are in harmony with the open space.
The apartment is situated on the ground floor facing a characteristic courtyard where you can see a nice little fountain. Completing the loft a modern dining-table and a comfortable sofa which coverts into another double bed.
The bathroom, like the whole floor of the house is made of bricks. It contains a shower and is well stocked with everything that guests need (towels, soap, shampoo).
The location of the apartment is exceptional as you are extremely close to all the classic sights of Rome. Castle Sant’Angelo, Saint Peter’s, Piazza Navona, Campo de’ Fiori and the Pantheon are all no more than an easy three minute walk.
Vicolo del Bollo goes from Via del Pellegrino (the ancient road travelled by the pilgrims who used to reach San Peter’s) to via dei Cappellari (where still today the last roman real carpenters go on doing woodwork).
The toponym of the lane comes from the “Ufficio del Bollo” established in 1608 by a notification which ordered the jewelers to work just pure gold and silver and masters of the mint to check and brand (or seal) the works. The jewelers lived in via del Pellegrino; after finishing their works they used to go “al Bollo” right to seal their works. At the beginning of the lane there is a sacred image which is protected by a glass.
The perfect starting point to best enjoy the best of the eternal city!

As two couples traveling together we were a little nervous that the flat would be too small - but it was perfect! Allesandro was an amazing host, even booking a taxi for us to the airport. We couldn't have asked for a better location or a more reasonable price. Thank you so much Allesandro!

We just got back from our very planned and dreamy eurotrip. Alessandro's Bollo apartment was more than we needed. It was beautifully located and was perfect for a young couple. The neighbourhood is the best in Rome, from that location you can go walking everywhere. Alessandro himself received us at the address to give us the keys. We met his lovely family and he even gave us some advice to places to go and have nice wine, marked everything on a map he had prepared for us. We are sure that when we come back to Rome we´ll go to this apartment again! Thank you for everything!!

My husband, brother-in-law and I spent 8 wonderful days at the Bollo over the 2010 holidays. We've been to Rome many times, and this year decided on an apartment rather than hotel. And this apartment was perfect. It is a small, cozy, quiet respite in a busy city. It is close to everything we needed, and having Campo d' Fiori and all it has to offer at the end of the street was a treat. The apartment is close to the Ghetto where we have friends, and an easy walk to Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, and other venues. We enjoyed having a kitchen available, and even cooked New Year's Even dinner before going out on the town. Alessandro has created a wonderful spot -- and is a wonderful host. He met us at the door, provided recommendations for shopping and eating, and even left a New Year's gift. We have a home of VRBO, and have rented several placed via VRBO, and like the others, this Bollo met every expectation!

We ( husband, wife and 9-year-old twins) spent a week in this rental and were pleased with everything - would absolutely stay again! The location can't be beat, the owner was VERY kind and helpful, we loved how quiet it was, and it had everything we needed. The flat is small, but comfortable, and my daughters really loved it - I would definitely recommend this spot for someone with children!

This apartment is at very good location. Pantheon, piazza navona all these places are at 5 or 10 minutes walk. There are lots of cafe, pubs and whole area becomes very lively in the evening. There are free wi-fi in most of the nearby cafes. Walking distance from bus stop. Apartment is small but very nice. Tall people have to be bit careful as ceiling is bit low at some places. But overall it is very nice.

Central Rome, this is the place. From there, you can go everywhere, walk everywhere and never take the metro or any transport. They say Rome is walking everywhere, well, from there it is the truth. The appartment was a bit small but it grows on you. We were there 6 nights and on a trip to Rome, you do not stay inside. So after a couple of nights you get use to it. It is secure and very, very quiet. The owner (Alessandro) was on time for the keys and was very friendly and helpful. Thanks again and will recommend this to friends. ET and SO

This place is very well located, you are just steps from all of the great historical sites. The owners are very helpful and know the city very well. It was clean, the only problem was that the shower did not drain very well. It was also very small, so if you have older children it may be a bit too small. The ladder stairs might be a little bit tricky as well if you have very small children.
