Florence at its best...
Large 1 bedroom apartment that retains many original details and flavor, is located on a first floor of an aristocratic early XIV century building in via delle Burella 12, just around the corner from Santa Croce Cathedral.
The antique front door leads to a bright and spacious room furnished with a queen size sofa bed, table and chairs, an open L shaped kitchen with a wooden countertop and an "original" stone sink and counter that makes it perfect for entertaining. The contrast of bricks, wood and tiles as well as the antique queen size bed and furniture makes the extra large bedroom unique. The apartment reflects the historical influence of the location, but is completely remodeled. The terra cotta floor and wooden beams ceiling accentuate the beauty of it. An en-suite tiled full bathroom with tub, central heating and A/C completes the property.

We stayed for three nights the past summer at this apartment in Florence and had a very nice experience. The location is great, three minutes or so from Piazza della Signoria. There is a nice (if expensive) small store for most of what you might need at Piazza San Simone, a minute away, and in front of it there is Il Gelato Vivoli, which is well-known for its ice cream but also produces great coffee. The apartment isn't large but worked well for two grown-ups and two teenagers. There's cooking facilities, a washing machine and solid wireless Internet. Everything was clean and well-functioning. The hosts were very nice and helpful, and we appreciated the bottle of wine they had left for us. If you bring a car, expect to have a parking problem. We drove up to the apartment (tricky and possibly illegal, but the GPS found the way) to drop our stuff off, then parked the car in the large, modern underground garage at Piazza Beccaria (entrance from Viale Giovanni Amendola, on the left as you approach Piazza Beccaria from the south). There's a 24h rate that is reasonable, unlike some of the other options. It's a bit of a walk back but it was enjoyable. We can heartily recommend this apartment and will certainly make it our first option next time we go to Florence.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This condo is located in the heart of Florence. We loved the room and the location. We wanted an experience of being able to walk out our door and purchase produce, meats and wine. There was even a gelateria next door. We had the experience we were looking for. The manager was excellent to work with and the cleaning, new towels and sheets was a nice surprise. Having a clothing washer and a full kitchen made the stay very affordable.

The handoff of the apt went easily, and the owner made a trip back to repay unused money when a part of our group had to leave early because of the train strike. There was obvious pride of ownership when we were shown through the apartment. It had detailed touches of a lovely home. It had so much history; it was like living back in the 1300s, yet we blended into an Italian neighborhood conveniently walking everywhere. Everything worked in the apartment. There was even a Rick Steves 2011 travel guide for us to use.

This apartment far exceeded our expectations. The friendly owner and his wife greeted us when we arrived and made us feel very welcome. It was very clean and comfortable and had little touches that made you feel right at home. We felt like we were experiencing the heart of Florence right in the apartment itself.
