Enjoyed the many seating areas both inside and out. People were definitely able to space out in the house and not be under foot of each other. As first time visitors to Door County we found it conviniently located for tours of the peninsula. Owner very accessible. Wonderful experience! House included!

Another GREAT Year
Another GREAT Year
We rented Kathryns house for many years then moved to NY for 5 yrs. Upon return to Chicago, we email her and asked to rent the house for our usually time in July. She made sure that we were able to get the house. WOW - for only being gone for 5 yrs, she did a lot of wonderful upgrades to the house. This house is perfect for our 2 dogs (both Labs) with a sprawling lawn and woods to play in. The inside makes one feel at home, yet in Door County with the beach house decorations and the "Door County feel." We would recommend this house for anyone looking to get away for a week or 2, stay close to all the activities (if you want) or lay low at the house. Close to everything, yet far enough away (less than a mile). Very quiet and peaceful. I recommend coffee in the morning on the patio watching the water and relaxing. We look forward to our next stay and many more in the future. Kathryn is a wonderful host, while not on site, but available if ever needed. What else can I say... this is what Door County is all about. From review tips: Listing does not do this place justice.... no words could Photos are very accurate Property was very clean and well maintained If your out some night, on the way home stop by JJ's and tell him hi!!!!

We have stayed at this wonderful place for several years and always look forward to going back. The location is great, the setting absolutely wonderful for our family and the house is a charming, clean departure for us each time. The house feels very secluded, yet a short drive to many restaurants, shops and Door County attractions. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to escape to Door County for a vacation.

The house was wonderful, accomodating 6 adults, 1 baby and a black lab. The online photos and description were accurate and we were not disappointed at all. We loved the fact that the house was on a dead-end street that ended at the Bay. Sunsets were gorgeous and I don't think we missed one the 5 nights we were at the house. There was amble yard to play in and the flowers surrounding the house made for some beautiful pictures. We all enjoyed our time, relaxing, hiking, shopping and having one too many ice cream cones at the corner Ice Cream Shoppe. We'll definately be back! And if you get the chance, plan a dinner at Fred & Fuzzy's Waterfront Bar & Grill. The food, and sunsets are worth the wait!

Delightful setting within view of Green Bay (a one block stroll) and surrounded by beautiful perennial gardens. The house is very comfortable and well appointed. Within walking distance of local ice cream shop and JJ's restaurant. A great location to enjoy the "Door County" experience. (We are repeat renters here.)

About the owner: My family and I have vacationed in Door County for over 40 years and realized how special this beautiful peninsula is both in history, culture and in climate. Its definitely a journey to a forgotten world where enjoying the outdoors takes precedence over the day to day and where food, and art, nature and recreation make this somewhat remote destination worth every minute of travel every time we come. Truly a wonderful place to spend time.
Why the Owner Chose Sister Bay:
Door County has always been our favorite family vacation spot. For years we had rented houses there, until one year the house we rented was also listed for sale. After our “vacation week,” we knew that we wanted to buy a house in this beautiful place we could call our get-away home and enjoy at our leisure whenever we need to recharge. We lost that house to another buyer, but ended up with a house just down the road, that in the end was even more perfect because of the location, the land and the layout of the house itself. Originally settled on the corner of an old Scandinavian estate as the home for its gardener, it came complete with Bay views, loads of sunshine, lots of lawn and adjoining woods for the kids to escape to never lands that don’t exit in the city. That is Villa Villekula, where we have since spent many unforgettable days and weeks with family and friends and our “family” of renters who have come to enjoy it as much as we do every season. It’s unique setting just off Beach Road on a stretch of lawn pouring down on over an acre toward the Bay has given us the privacy of our secluded villa, with the added bonus of close proximity to shops, restaurants and recreation. The perfect place to relax, it is one of the only places I know that when there—there is no place else on earth . . . truly paradise.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Villa Villakula is a single, story, three-bedroom home with a large great room anchored by a stone fireplace and nooks and crannies for sleeping and privacy. It comes furnished with a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, picnic tables, grills and bikes. Relaxed yet sophisticated, it is steps above a cabin, but an easy going, relaxed home with gracious furnishing and a feel of a summer home. Ideally located close to water and a public boat launch, it is also close to the marina, shops, restaurants and the back roads for hiking, biking and exploring. The house is bordered by a small orchard outside the bedroom windows and another at the bottom of the property that overlooks the Bay. Rear and sides also include small woods that create a feeling of privacy while offering an invitation to explore what lies within. Off the road and nestled down toward the Bay from the highway, it is the perfect hideaway for kids, pets and grownups who need a true escape from the everyday. A child’s playhouse complete with tiny furnishings sits just outside the door. A screened porch with large family picnic table just off the kitchen provides a spot to enjoy the outdoors and watch the birds. The patio on the Bay side sits amidst the garden where birds and butterflies drift in and out. At night, the stars amaze. Stare above around the warmth of the fire pit. Forget the everyday and know that you are in a very special place.
