smoky mountain memories 2012

The cabin was wonderful & the view was fantastic. BUT-the problem with the hot tub ruined our time there! Jets BARELY worked, it wasn't much better then sitting in a bath tub & the cover was falling apart so bad there were all sorts of pieces of styrofoam floating around. The hot tub is probably 25% of our time spent at a cabin! And the microwave was barely usable because the platter that revolves around was missing, without that we couldn't even pop popcorn! Also, you need some printed instructions like what to do at checkout, the fact that the switch for the ceiling fan in the main floor bedroom is COMPLETELY HIDDEN by the dresser!!! When trash day is. There were NO dish cloths or towels & only 1 pot holder in the kitchen! And just a suggestion-MOST cabins have a journal for people to write in - they are very enjoyable to read. In closing, if it wasn't for the hot tub we WOULD MOST DEFINATELY recommend this cabin, but that ruined our stay. Thank you, The Simmons

Owner response:Well, we are disappointed with our first "3 out of 5" star review rating. We bend over backwards to please everyone even when things go wrong, as they sometimes do. The new hot tub cover was ordered a month ago and unfortunately did not arrive in time for this renter. It is installed now. All the other issues were addressed in real time by our wonderful manager, Brandon. We have never had a single complaint before about the fan switch; the microwave or the dish towels. But we listen to all our guests, and we will make sure there are dish towels and pot holders on premises.

Mayberry Morning... awesome views

Our family of eight adults stayed here 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. The cabin is truly beautiful and exceptionally clean. The listing description and the photo's are accurate but don't do it justice! It's just a short drive off the main highway, a bit steep but not a problem for our midsize car or the SUV. The view from the top deck is amazing, which is what i was hoping for, and the reason I booked this cabin. The hot tub fit four of us comfortably with room to spare. The theater room was great! The bedrooms large and comfortable. I wish I could keep this cabin a secret so i could be assured of future vacancies :) it really is a great place. Thank You Scott and family for sharing your home with us, and a big Thank You to Brandon for your help while we were there.

Spectacular Cabin and Views..

My family and I (ttl of 11 people) stayed at Mayberry Morning in June 2011. This cabin is as nice as you would expect if not nicer. There was plenty of room for everyone to stretch out and make themselves at home. The kitchen was moderately stocked with the necessities that we needed to cook meals for the family. The bedrooms were very nice with comfortable beds and large master baths for each. There was plenty to do at the cabin after getting out during the days. The pool table became a popular hangout for everyone while the media room was out of this world. I would advise and action packed movie because of the monitor and the surround sound. Just like being at the theater. We even had a raccoon that would visit at night to prowl around for anything that was left out, the kids really got a kick out of him. If I may recommend something, it would be a cage for your trash cans and more than one can outside. The cabin is located just off of Hwy 321 in Wears Valley and just far enough to get away from the rat race but close enough to all of the shops and attractions. We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a luxury cabin at an affordable price. I would like to thank Scott and Brandon for their hospitality and bending over backwards for us. You have truly helped create a memorable vacation for me and my family and we will be calling you again in the future.

Fabulous Time

We stayed at this cabin in early June 2011. We had a great time, loved the view and the location for accessing the National Park without having to drive through Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. The house provided lots of options for relaxing after spending our days in the park, from soaking in the hot tub, to watching movies in the home theater or a friendly game of pool. The owners and care taker were very gracious and helpful to us in planning activities, as well as, providing directions to avoid road construction. The layout of the house was perfect for the group to gather to share meals and discuss our adventures, but also provided privacy when turning in for the night. This is a well maintained house and we really appreciate the owner making it pet friendly. We hope we can return again to this lovely spot as we have more exploring to do in the Park.

Beautiful mountain getaway

My family stayed here last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The place was beautiful and with 4 floors, we had plenty of room! The view was fantastic! The only downfall, with a toddler, was no door to the staircase. But the owner was gracious to provide a pet gate. We would definitely stay here again! The Owner made sure that our stay was perfect!

Okay

Date of Stay: 11/05/10 Review Submitted: 11/09/10

My family and I recently stayed at Mayberry Morning. The cabin is very nice and the views are amazing. But I was very disappointed in the kitchen amenities. It is only stocked with the most very basic cooking utensils, etc. We made chili one night and had to go to the Dollar General Store and buy the necessary kitchen utensils(can opener, strainer, dipper) to prepare the chili. I guess if you don't plan to cook while you are there, it's no big deal. There is not a TV in the main living/kitchen area which was disappointing either (the picture shows one above the fireplace, but there isn't one there). My family tends to congregate and socialize around the kitchen and food, so it was disappointing that we couldn't watch the game while we were preparing our meal and eating. This is a very nice cabin overall, it just wouldn't be a place you would want to stay if you plan on doing alot of cooking. My rental contract said checkout would be at 11a, but when we arrived, the property manager told us we had to be out by 10a, and I thought that was misleading.

Owner response:Message received, loud and clear! The reviewer is right: the utensils were not up to our high standards, so we updated and replenished the cookware and the utensils in February 2011. Also, we finally replaced the TV that was in the Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen area... As far as checkout, our contract now says 10:00 am, but we are happy to accomodate requests for late check out (or early check in) if we can....

Great Relaxing Family Vacation

Guest: TravelsWithBCs (Chicago suburb)
Date of Stay: 08/01/10 Review Submitted: 09/02/10

We were lucky enough to stay for an entire week in August. We being my husband and me, teenage son (17) and our two border collies. Such a wonderful lovely relaxing place, we enjoyed every moment there and hated to leave when our week was up. The view was wonderful - eating breakfast on the deck every morning was the best start to every day. We really enjoyed our twice daily walks with our dogs. It was so nice to have this great haven just a short drive from the busy main strip. We could run out of dinner (enjoyed the Alamo) and be back with evening remaining to relax in the hot tub. We spend our days exploring and lazing (what a lovely combination). My husband and I particularly enjoyed the Arts & Crafts trail, the walking/hiking, and a great Smokies baseball game (go Cubs). We had lots of room to spread out. Loved, loved, loved the pool table and theater room - which gave teenage son lots to do when we were off doing something he would rather not. Everyone I spoke to and met was friendly and very helpful. A great place to spend a vacation with opportunities to do as much or as little as you like.

We had a fantastic stay at Mayberry Morning in mid-July 2010. The property was well maintained and far exceeded our expectations. The kids really enjoyed the pool table and home theater. The views were amazing! It was nice to sit out on the deck with a cup of coffee or enjoy the hot tub after a long day of hiking in the National Park. It was a great location...really close to the National Park and a short drive to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinsburg. We had a wonderful stay.

Returning for the beds and breakfast bar!

Guest: House o' Joe's (Chicago area)
Date of Stay: 06/06/10 Review Submitted: 06/11/10

Where to begin? Let me start out by saying my expectations for accommodations tend to be unrealistic. I want the best of the best. My family calls me “Paris Hilton” because of my snobby expectations for my vacationing (no offense, Miss Hilton). I can assure you my expectations were met or exceeded with our stay at Mayberry Morning. The views and rooms represented in the pictures are exactly what you will find when you arrive. If I could find a way to take the breakfast bar home, I would. It is that stunning. And the management and staff showed hospitality second to none. They were extremely helpful and welcoming. The cabin was so spotless, I felt compelled to vacuum up every crumb we dropped so it remained like a showplace. The location of Mayberry Morning was far enough from the bustle of Pigeon Forge (about 12 min) yet close enough to grocery shopping (Dollar Store a couple minutes down the road and a Kroger grocery store 10 min away). This gave us a feeling of being remote and secluded, yet we were just 15 min from major restaurants (our favorite was Old Mill) and tourist spots. We took advantage of every feature of the cabin - we relaxed on the deck with spectacular views, relaxed in the hot tub under thousands of stars, grilled out, made s’mores in the fire pit every night and ended each evening in the home theatre (we even witnessed our Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup during our stay!). The kids even stayed out of trouble running up and down the 4 levels playing hide-and-go-seek, roasting marshmallows, playing pool, using the brand new foosball table, watching movies in the home theatre, hooking up their PlayStation, and jumping in the hot tub. We somehow found time to go tubing down the river about 15-20 minutes from the cabin. I’ve saved the best for last. The beds. I have to tell you, these are the BEST beds EVER! I am not over-exaggerating. We can’t wait to return to the cabin just to sleep in these beds again. These beds are worth a return trip in themselves. Thank you for a wonderful experience. Just 10 minutes after we left, our boys said they missed the cabin. Thanks for the memories! We hope to make more Mayberry Morning memories in the future.

Magnificent View-Spacious Cabin-Convenient to Everything

Guest: Mel (Pleasantville TN (middle TN))
Date of Stay: 06/01/10 Review Submitted: 06/17/10

We had a 5 day stay in June. This was the first time in the Gatlinburg/Pidgen Forge area in over twelve years. We winded our way up the mountainside and parked in a very wide driveway. Before we entered we walked around the balcony. The view was breathtaking, more than we ever imagined. The location of the cabin was just minutes away from either Gatlinburg or Pidgeon Forge. It was within 7-8 minutes from large food and retail stores and about the same time from a large Community Center where our family of 6 went swimming in a large outdoor clean pool and baby pool costing $12.00 for the day. During our stay we went horseback riding (unguided), a helicopter ride, petting zoo, minor league baseball game, and a stroll through downtown Gatlinburg where some of us enjoyed the thrill rides and all of us enjoyed the ice cream and other snacks. The cabin was very spacious-large open rooms. The highlights were the Pool Table and the Theater Room. I don't know the size, but we enjoyed watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the NBA Playoffs on the largest TV screen I have ever watched sports on in a house. The appliances were modern and we used the gas grill during our stay. If you want to vacation in the Pidgeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, this is the place to enjoy yourself at very affordable prices.

Met All Expectations

Eight family members, ages 21-64, spent a week enjoying this fabulous cabin. The photos are exactly what you get! We enjoyed catching up on relationships while taking in the spectacular views from the deck, laughed while playing pool in the game room, was thrilled with the enormous theater room, and at each days end, we relaxed in the hot tub on the deck in the moonlight. Of course, there is shopping, attractions, restaurants nearby so you can saunter out a couple days as we did. The personnel dealt with were friendly, helpful, and we were glad to have the opportunity to meet one of them. The whole experience was pleasant, we had a fantastic time and we definitely will return. Mayberry Morning is recommended to anyone with a large group wanting an absolutely great time.

This cabin is perfect. We stayed for a weekend and did not want to leave. This cabin has everything you need and then some. A cup of coffee on the porch at sunrise makes it worth your money. The gaming area is huge and did I mention a home theatre. This place is the best we have found and have been coming to the mountains for years. We will be back.
