After nine years of visiting Akumal we were finally able to purchase our own villa, San Francisco. It is our home away from home and when the going gets tough back in the world, we dream of our own spot in Paradise on the beaches of the Mayan Riviera.
What could be more perfect? Swim or snorkel in crystal clear waters just outside the back door. Or, if it is your preference, take a dip in the fresh water pool. Still too much effort? A siesta in the hammock on the veranda might be just what you need.
We love our place in the sun and would like to share it with you!
It's warm and inviting and feels like a home you've been invited to visit. Gorgeous colors and furnishings, a magnificent ocean, white sand beach, privacy and a fabulous swimming pool. What more could you want in a luxury villa?
Casa San Francisco is a "Hacienda" style villa located on the white sandy beach of exclusive South Akumal. The villa is a comfortable and colorful mix of arts and crafts from around the world set in the midst of tropical gardens and Caribbean beach. It's charm is completed by wrought iron balconies and court yard fountains. "It is just lovely" reads the guest book.
Casa San Francisco offers four bedrooms in the main villa, over two floors. The main floor includes the open living and dining area and fully equipped kitchen. From the living / dining area you will enjoy a full view of the turquoise Caribbean. Via sliders you access the gorgeous swimming pool and it's limestone deck area which is well furnished with tables, chairs and pool side loungers. There are also some great coconut trees along the beach which are perfect for hanging your hammock.
The Bedroom On the upper floor, three gorgeous and relaxing air conditioned bedrooms are available. The ocean view master bedroom is furnished with king and has private bath. Another lovely guest bedroom is located next to the master bedroom with the same wonderful ocean views, king sized bed, and ensuite bathroom. A third ensuite guest bedroom on the upper floor is furnished with queen bed also enjoys a stylish brick domed ceiling and a lovely view of the garden. The fourth bedroom is located on the main level with garden view. This is a spacious ensuite room has two twin beds and a double futon. All of the ensuite bedrooms have showers and either a single or double vanity, and there is an additional full guest bathroom with shower on the main level complete with shower accessed from the main hall.
If you require additional space Casa San Francisco includes a cute upper level guest house across the garden side fountain courtyard. The guest house is air conditioned and furnished with a queen bed, TV and DVD/VCR with a small selection of movies, en suite bathroom, it's own private terraces overlooking the jungle and the courtyard, and also a wonderful private roof terrace which is the perfect place for star gazing at night.

Our two families stayed at Casa San Francisco for one week (4 adults and kids 19, 16, 14, 12 and 12). The house was perfect for our vacation! There was enough room for everyone in this beautiful house and being right on the beach was heaven. Everyone in the group swam in the pool and ocean, and many went kayaking and snorkeling in our 'back yard.' Beach towels are included at the house, as well as toiletries like you would get in a hotel. Although many places to see where close-by, some of the best time that we spent was just hanging around the villa, reading in the hammock, relaxing on the beach or swimming. The location of the house is great to get to many attractions, most only 1/2 hour or so away. Some of the activities we did (other than relaxing at the villa) were snorkeling at Yal-ku lagoon, visitng ruins at Tulum and Coba, shopping in akumal, Tulum and Playa del Carmen, visiting Hidden Worlds and Xcaret parks, and visiting other beaches (Akumal, Tulum, others). Guille (the staff manager) was very attentive and helpful with suggestions on places to go or things to do. Some in our group were worried about security given the news from other (far-away) parts of Mexico, but we felt very safe at the villa with the security provided. Marcia from akumal Direct Reservations was extremely helpful in pre-trip advice and answering our many questions about the place. It's always a little nerve-wracking preparing to go somewhere you have never visited, but she helped put us at ease. One thing we did not do but I wished we had done was to have dinner cooked for us one night as this was a highlight for others who had stayed at the house (as written in the guestbook). I highly recommend Villa San Francisco for a family or large group vacation.

We had a wonderful time! The house was beautiful, exceeded our expectations and worked perfectly for our group. Guille was very attentive and helpful and the staff very good. We appreciated your suggestions and help before we left too, it’s always a little nerve-wracking going somewhere where you have never visited before. I left some tips and thoughts in the guest book at the house as well. The kids enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling at the house, your reminder to bring water shoes was right on. We went on a night-time “turtle hike” with the CEA staff and saw two turtles laying eggs which was the experience of a lifetime. We hung out at the house or went into Akumal a couple of days, which was very relaxing. We went to hidden worlds, which all enjoyed. We went to Yal-ku one day which was perfect for the kids to gain some confidence snorkeling and see some fish. We also went to Tulum one day, and after seeing the ruins went to “Playa Maya” just a little further south – beautiful beach! Another day we split up – my family went to Coba and then shopping in Tulum, while our friends went to Xcaret. We all went to Playa del Carmen one day, just to check it out. It was OK but way too touristy for my tastes. All in all, a wonderful vacation!
