Our three day stay was very enjoyable. The views from the veranda were spectacular overlooking the mountainous valleys down to the ocean. Beautiful hardly describes the sunsets. Overall the casita was a great place to stay with plenty of space for two people. A great bedroom, spacious bathroom with oversized shower and excellent living room area. The kitchen was adequate and the only criticism I have, which is minor, was the refrigerator was too small. Our hosts (owners of property) were welcoming, helpful and generous with their time. Overall I highly recommend this casita.

We stayed as the wonderful one bedroom casita, and were welcomed by the lovely owners, who provided us with flowers on the table and warm banana bread. The kitchen cupboard was stocked with staples to start our one week stay, and the owners were always available to address our questions and concerns. We were provided with a detailed map of the town of San Ramon, including recommended restaurants and points of interests. The casita was clean and nicely furnished, the patio provided extraordinary views, and the property had hiking paths. It was a wonderful addition to our month's stay in Costa Rica. We would recommend this lovely getaway to any who enjoys nature and its beauty.

There are times in our lives when we need to retreat, regroup and replenish the soul. Norm and Collie’s casita was the perfect choice. The casita provided an unobstructed view of the Costa Rican Central Valley all the way to Puntarenas, the coast and across to the Nicoya peninsula. At night, the lights from the towns and small cities of the Central Valley twinkled below and provided a unique perspective of the Costa Rican lowlands. That alone would have been enough to recharge our batteries, but we also were surrounded with butterflies, hummingbirds, a flock of gray-headed Chacalacas and many other species that we were not able to identify. Norm and Collie were a wealth of information and assistance in locating the best places to shop, local restaurants that were good, and provided easy directions to local sites, such as the Botanical Garden’s, and the Spider Monkey Rehabilitation and Release Program. The property is located approximately 15 minutes outside of San Ramon, off of a paved road and at an elevation of approximately 5200 feet. The road was good, very picturesque, but windy. The days were warm and sunny and the evenings were cool and required a jacket or warm sweater. Norm and Collie have an excellent DVD library (1100 plus) and provided ready access to the movies that we requested. We really enjoyed our stay in Norm and Collie’s casita and recommend it for anyone looking for a retreat with easy access to wonderful San Ramon. During the day you can take advantage of touring and visiting the local sites, towns and villages and retreat in the evenings to quiet solitude.

The "casita" is a beautiful little construction separated from the main building and private. The view of the valley, up to caribbean coast, when clear, is incredible. You can walk in the property, along several short paths, among beautiful trees, flowers and birds. You can read in the veranda with the view of the ocean, 30 miles away, with only the sound of the wind and the chirping of the birds. The perfect place to relax. Norm and Collie are perfect hosts.

Owner response: Thanks so much for your kind words; we’re thrilled when our guests enjoy their stay in our casita. However, let me correct an error of geography. The Caribbean isn’t visible from here. Our view is of the Pacific and Gulf of Nicoya, which is 30 miles away (as the crow flies).

We stayed at the Casita in the "wet season" for 10 days, and we loved it! In fact, some of the best sight seeing was had at the Casita. It was one of the main highlights of our Costa Rican visit. We thank Norm and Collie for their very straight forward and accurate description of the property. We found it as advertised or nicer in every case. Best value. Best view. Best place to stay. Thank you!!! Rodney and Karen ~Texas

We spent a week in Collie and Norm's casita. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived. It was so clean and quiet. The view is breathtaking. We were at home with a very COMFORTABLE queen bed with lots of pillows. The bathroom has a huge shower. The casita has a well equipped kitchen with a cooktop, oven, coffee maker, fridge, and the world's best toaster. There is a tv with a DVD player. The mountain breezes and Collie's garden was a piece of Heaven. We simply expected a casita on the side of a mountain. It was so much more than that. Collie and Norm go the extra mile to make sure your stay is comfortable. They can help you with the local businesses and culture. San Ramon is very friendly with good restaraunts and nice people. We can't imagine going anywhere else. We loved it so much we will be going back again, and again...

My wife and I came here for the latter portion of our honeymoon. After having stayed in a beautiful spot in Orosi for the first part of the week, we were excited to see this location in San Ramon! While there was nothing particularly wrong with it, it was still a bit of a let down. The view from the casita was not quite what they advertise- it was basically a bunch of trees that needed to be trimmed. (The view from their house, higher and with no foliage blocking it, was superb.) They said they'd need to fix that, but that doesn't help me much. The picture that they use for the icon of the property? Imagine that, but with the lower 80% covered by trees. Bob Ross would have loved it. Beyond that- and this wasn't the owners' fault- it was exceedingly cloudy the entire time we were there, so we were basically living in a casita surrounded by fog with just trees outside our giant picture window. The casita itself was fine. The kitchen and fridge were great, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was excellent. It was also nice being at a place where you could drink the water and flush toilet paper. All things considered, if the owners do a little landscaping outside and make it so that the casita actually has a view, this could be a nice spot. San Ramon is cool, albeit pretty small and uneventful. The farmer's market was really neat! (Don't buy the coffee- it's roasted terribly.) I think I might want to stay longer than three days in order to get a few glimpses of the views in between thick cloud cover. (Tip for US travelers- the lady who sells cigars and real estate in San Ramon, who they list on their map of things to do, sells fake Cuban cigars. Don't waste your money. Her hand-rolled ones for $4-5 are alright, though.) Long story short- the actual casita is great. The view is lacking and not what the pictures here show. It'll probably be cloudy.

The most spotlessly clean accommodation I've ever encountered. All possible needs are anticipated by this thorough couple, down to precise directions for your arrival. Prompt communications made for a carefree, charming visit. The long range views are especially remarkable at night too. Bring a jacket. Can be chilly in July at this altitude.

Owner response: Since we're located at almost a mile above sea-level, our climate is much more temperate than that of lower altitudes. Typical evening temperatures get down to the low 60s, and sometime, even lower. Many of our guests appreciate the cooler temperatures after experiencing the extremely hot, humid weather of the coast.

It doesn't get better than this. High above San Ramon in the hills near Berlin sits this beautifully designed and privately owned casita. Surrounded by paths through the foliage where you can see a variety of birds and wildlife...this is the place to think, write, relax.... Or just rest for your next adventure. The owners will even do your laundry for a small fee. We loved it here and enjoyed preparing meals in the little kitchen....great wi-fi connection... We plan to return on our next trip. You'll never be the same once you've taken in this ocean view.
