I came to Long Beach for a conference and brought along my family (spouse, two toddlers, their grandmother). We were looking for a clean cottage in a safe neighborhood, near to downtown Long Beach, preferably roomy, and we found everything we were looking for here. Ferrara (property manager) and Carole (owner) were pleasant and easy to work with, the house was clean and well-maintained. Wifi and entertainment center were easy to use, kitchen was large, clean, and well-stocked, rooms were spacious, and bathroom was gorgeous. Nice porch with outdoor furniture set, as well. Location was also great - just blocks from the beach, walking distance to grocery stores and a few restaurants, and a short drive/bus/cab-ride to downtown.Did you find this review helpful? Great location and cute house with a wonderfully equipped kitchen, good supply of bed linens, towels and paper supplies. It’s located in a very bike friendly area, and we enjoyed riding our bikes to the beach, restaurants and the grocery store. The neighborhood people are quite friendly. Carole was accommodating and attentive to the issues we encountered during our stay. However, the house was very dirty when we arrived. Fortunately we stayed for 4 weeks and had time to spend a couple days cleaning up before we could enjoy this nice bungalow. There is no vacuum cleaner, so cleaning has to be done with a broom & dust pan which is not very efficient. The attic bed area is carpet so, without vacuum the floor can’t be cleaned. We have provided these comments to Carole. She understands the problem and agrees rectify them immediately and agrees to update the listing photos so they reflect the property furnishings. We look forward to our intended stay next year.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

I use VRBO for almost all my travel accommodation needs and rely heavily on reviews to make my selections. When I write my own reviews, I always give the pros and cons of the homes/apartments I rent and try to be as honest as possible. PROS: Bright sunny house with lots of room. Fairly quiet street with nice front yard. Very comfortable and homey. Good communication from the owner. Location was great with grocery stores and restaurants in easy walking distance. The beach was also a 10-15 minute walk. Off street parking for three cars which was definitely needed in this neighborhood. All and all a great deal for the price and much better than any hotel. CONS: The house was not real clean when we arrived (thick dust under the couch, dried food on the coffee table, and at least one bed with dirty linens). The furnishings were sparse and not as pictured. There was only the couch in the living room and no chairs. We found some metal folding chairs that we had to use to entertain. In the dining area was only the four person table and again, the chair in the pictures was missing. While this house is a three bedroom, the "Master" is upstairs and only accessible through another bedroom so privacy was an issue for us. The Master was also at the top of some very steep stairs (almost a ladder) and completely unacceptable by my elderly father. The heater and dishwasher did not work properly when we arrived so we called Carole. She got a plumber over pronto and those worked well for the remainder of our stay. Several of the door knobs feel off in our hands so we were unable to close doors to two bedrooms completely. The bathroom door did not have a lock at all so again, privacy was a bit of an issue. The back deck was great on sunny days however, it was very dirty and we had to hose it down when we arrived. RECOMMENDATIONS: Definitely book this house if you are looking for a great place to stay in Long Beach. I would contact Carole about the furnishings and see if the chairs can be replaced, especially if you have more than 4 people.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, pet owners.

This little bungalow was a perfect place for 6-7 of us to stay while attending a week-long meeting at the convention center. It is equidistant between 2 popular bus routes: one on broadway and the other on fourth, if you are up for walking a few more blocks toward the beach, there are 2 more routes there as well. There is a Ralph's grocery store a few blocks away, several convenience shops, a gourmet market we didn't go to is close by too. There is a fabulous Mexicana Taquiera on fourth in the opposite direction of Ralph's and a fine Italian/pizza restaurant on Broadway (with tartuffo). Everyone had a great time being together, we had friends over one evening, and a few of us took a day off and went toward Belmont Shore and Seal beach for the afternoon. We did attempt Trader Joe's by bus and that was an adventure, the Whole Foods is out there too. Possible, very much so, just not so easy with a time crunch. Also, while iphones were super helpful with buses, when you get to a built up shopping area and busy streets, it is hard to tell where all the stops are. The house had everything we could have needed and more and we always knew Carole was reachable by phone and would assist if necessary.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, age 55+.

Our stay was exactly what we were looking for? The accommodation were nice and suited our needs. Carole worked with us on our time frame that we needed which was very helpful. We walked down to the beach one morning, had to pickup some of our family from the Long Beach airport and went to San Pedro for a reception. The house was located where any direction we needed to go to was only 15 mins away. The weather was beautiful and we would stay here again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

My family and I rented the house in order to attend a graduation in LA. The property is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need and very clean and well maintained. The house is beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. Comfortable bedding, fully stocked kitchen, wi-fi is available, latest applicances. We were able to have some nice family dinners. Our stay was perfect. The owner was readily available by phone or e-mail in case of any issues, and she also left a note with helpful information. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and very convenient to lots of sights in Long Beach. I would definitely stay here again hands down.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

About the owner: Love Long Beach for its diversity and small town feel. Belmont Shore is lots of fun, lots of great restaurants and shops. Naples Island is fun to see, always decorated for Christmas. Very romantic to go on Gondola Getaway to travel down the canals, almost like Venice, Italy! Downtown Long Beach has the Queen Mary and the Aquarium and has a great night life. Lots of places for dancing the night away!!
Why the Owner Chose Long Beach:
I have always wanted to own a bungalow style house. I love the old traditional feel to it with the convenience of all of the up-grades. It feels good to walk barefoot on the wood floors, touch the crystal door knobs, have lots of cupboard space, and open up the French doors to the back porch to let all of the fresh warm summer air in.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It is great to be central to everything in Long Beach. Walking to the beach to swim, kite surf, bike ride; or taking a walk through Belmont Shore to enjoy all of the great restaurants and shops; or going to Naples Island to kayak around the canals or for a special date go on the gondola through the canals to be sung to in Italian; or going to the Art District to watch a movie at the Art Theatre or go antique shopping, or eat at one of the more alternative restaurants; or to go downtown to visit the Queen Mary, Long Beach's Aquarium, and the Pike, it's all fabulous, so much to do and see! Plus Long Beach hosts the Grand Prix April 16-18 2010 and the Long Beach Marathon Oct 2010
