Golden Victorian Set in Charming Berkshire Hamlet

This lovely 1890's Victorian home was recently remodeled to accommodate more modern tastes, but it has not lost the antique quality of the original. But subsequently, there are now 3.5 bathrooms, 2 of which have jet showers and walk-in closets. The kitchen is designed more in a professional manner, and thus is open and airy and easy to use, as is the creatively decorated large dining room. It exists in the center of a small village, and the house seems to absorb much of the outside noises, so it is very quiet, (on this niche of a street). There is a children's playground about 50 yards from the house and there are very lush gardens, both flower and vegetable in the front and back, and a large lawn in the back, plus a large parking area.
The owner and her assistant are both excellent chefs and are available for catering, though the town of Great Barrington has so many restaurants, that almost every taste could be satisfied! There are also several museums in the area, notably, the Norman Rockwell (7min) and Chesterwood (5min) to name a few, as well as jazz venues, the Arlo Guthrie Center, etc.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: I am Ruth Adams Bronz, originally of Houston, Texas, but a willing transplant to New York and the Berkshires, have 3 houses in the village of Housatonic. The first one, I bought in 1972 and painted sunflowers on the walls. Then I had a restaurant in West Stockbridge, of regional American cooking (I wrote 2 books on that subject- Cornucopia, and Miss Ruby's American Cooking) and a few years later, established a similar restaurant in New York, which lasted for many years. I just ran back and forth to my house up here. In retirement, I rehabbed the shed into a studio and then bought the big Victorian next to my Sunflower House, and spent a few years rebuilding the Yellow House, with great pleasure. I love all my houses, and gardens, which are truly an oasis, despite being in the center of the village.
Why the Owner Chose Great Barrington:
The house was next door to my primary residence, and the idea originally was that I would move over to this home once it was rebuilt, but I changed my mind and decided to rent it as it is a large home to maintain for a single woman.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Great walks in the village-especially in the graveyard, and up around the Housatonic River. The peace and quiet is great, but you still can hear the murmur of happy children playing nearby. The house lends itself well to entertaining and can have many people inside without feeling over crowded.
