Dear Barbara and Paul, Our week just spent at your welcoming property was more than we could have hoped for. Thank you for posting so many photos on your site; it made Hilltop House so familiar to us before we even got there. Waldoboro was the perfect base for exploring the Mid-Coast region of Maine. We so enjoyed the local eateries- The Narrows, Moody's Diner and the Broad Cove lobsters, that we never cooked a single meal. However, the wonderful country kitchen was the perfect gathering spot. And, after a long day of exploring and antiquing, your inviting and comfortable living room was a delight to come home to. We all fought over the cushy red leather recliner! There is so much more we want to see in the area that we have already reserved Hilltop House for next summer. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Our stay at "Hill House" was great and we are looking forward to a longer visit this year. Just relaxing in the beautiful atmosphere here could have been the only thing we did. However, Booth Bay Gardens, wonderful restaurants, Pemequid Beach and Damirescotta Lake were well worth the visit. Thanks and kudos to our hosts, Paul and Barbara.

Barb and Paul, I love the red house on the hill! It is a great place for a fall escape. The minute we entered the front hall, worries and stress fell away. The house was spacious, clean and personal touches added to the charm. The house and yard are big enough for private spaces, while the kitchen and living room encourage long dinners and warm gatherings. We loved being able to walk into town for dinner at The Narrows and coffee and goodies at the new bakery. Fall activities included reading, knitting, cooking, long walks on quiet country roads, a trip to Damariscotta for shopping, drinks at King Eiders, and visit to the historic Chapman house. We discovered the ancient Lutheran German church in Waldoboro and shopped at the Alpaca Farm and Gift shop in town. The highlight was a tour of Muscongus Bay in a lobster boat from the Spinnacres Bed and Breakfast owners. What a great way to see this fascinating bay. Can’t wait to visit again. Sue W

Paul and Barb, I really enjoyed our fall retreat at the "Hilltop House". Stress and worries fall away when one enters the front door into a world of peace and quiet The house was clean and beautifully apointed, with personal touches that make it unique. The spacious house and yard provide many opportunites for group activities, as well as private space, if desired. Highlights included daily, long 3-4 mile walks through town and out onto rural, country roads. Many hours for reading, knitting, or cooking special meals in the wonderful kitchen. To my surprise, we were able to harvest herbs from the kitchen garden, green peppers, rhubarb and incredible swiss chard. What do you put in that soil??? So many places and things to do, so little time, but highlights include shopping trips to Damariscotta, a tour of the historic Chapman House, ice cream at Fernalds, drinks at King Eiders, dinner at the Narrows, discovering the ancient Old Lutheran Church, shopping and visitng the Village Farm and Alpaca shop, and a boat cruise on incredible Muscongus Bay in a lobster boat (Spinnacres Bed and Breakfast). Can't wait to return.

Just a quick note from the library's internet site. We have settled in quite well to your wonderful place & are enjoying ourselves greatly. We have even been farmers, eating from your fresh tomatoes.(You did the hard part)! Thank you for your hospitality. You really go the extra mile to make your place welcoming. P.S. the wine is perfect coming with the red house. Thank you!

                      Year Purchased: 2006

About the owner: We, Barbara(a Business Owner) & Paul(a Contractor) purchased this Home to be close to our East Coast roots. We grew up in Massachussetts & moved to the West Coast in the 1980's. Since then, we have looked for ways to spend more time in the place we truley feel is "Home". Walking into the House(built in the 1800's) for the first time brings about a sense of less hurried days gone by. We are pleased to be able to share it with others seeking the same experience.

                      Why the Owner Chose Waldoboro:
We love the off the beaten path feel of "Old Waldoborough" yet we are conveniently located to all the surrounding towns and villages without the tourist traffic and congestion. We can walk into town for a delicious meal at the popular Narrows Tavern and enjoy the local entertainment or easily launch our kayaks at the town landing, minutes from our home. The Medomak River is perfect for easy paddling and meandering as we enjoy the spectacular wildlife and nature. It's easy to relax in this unhurried town.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
This unique home seems to have a personality that charms all who visit. It's roomy, spacious feeling is perfect for entertaining and relaxing for all. We have enjoyed so many wonderful meals in the big kitchen, memorable times for all, complete with delicious local Maine seafood! The bedrooms all have their own individual charm as well. We leave all cares and worries behind as we relax into our "retreat" to read, walk, to garden and to explore all the wonders that Mid- Coast Maine has to offer.
