Why the Owner Chose Homosassa
I built this home after acquiring the unique lot. There are very few properties like this with waterfront docks and pristine conservation lands. This allowed a home to be built on stilts with a tree house like effect and great views. The conservation land in concordance with the EPA remains tidal and the way nature intended it to be.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Perfectly located with plenty of activities, restaurants and shopping within a 10 mile radius, this home is private yet accessible. Launch your boat, keep it at the dock, travel by boat to local hot spots for fishing or for socializing! You can have it all here. There are springs located 15 minutes by boat where you can snorkel and swim with the manatees and other critters! The water is cool and crystal clear. During scallop season enjoy gathering the tasty morsels and feasting afterwards. We have crab traps set out near the dock and enjoy the tasty blue crabs by the dozen! Redfish and trout are commonly sought after by inshore fishermen and women alike. Grouper, tarpon and other species may also be found nearby seasonally.
Explore the sugar mill and park dating back to the 1800's.
A variety of wildlife including the dramatic underwater viewing platform which provides an eye level view of the fish deep in the spring as well as the endangered manatees!
This convenient boat ramp has a bait shop, guides, restaurants and more just a few blocks away from the house.
Located close by is Publix and other great shopping convenient to the house.
Just minutes away by boat from the peak wintering waterfowl destination as well as 234 varieties of birds documented in the refuge. Porpoise, manatees and other wildlife make this refuge a "must see"

We fell in love with Old Homosassa because it feels like Florida ~ Relaxed, beautiful waterfront community with live oaks and Spanish moss. A great variety of birds can be found along with the largest population of manatees. There is plenty to do here; but sitting on the porch visiting with family and friends while shelling scallops or cleaning the redfish you just caught is my favorite pastime. This beautiful home is spacious and tucked into the trees, a perfect setting for a relaxed trip. We used the grilll on the porch every night and loved the walkway to the dock. We kept our skiffs on the dock and really enjoyed having the water access. The owner and property manager were wonderful to work with and I've already recommended this home to multiple people.

We had the chance to stay at this home for a week during scalloping season. Very nicely taken care of, very clean, and over all perfect for a small family get a way! Warning, the mosquitos are bad, so make sure you stock up on thermacells & candles. There every where, just not at this location. I would recommend this house immaditley & def keep it in mind for future vacations! Can't wait to come back!! Thanks again :]

We spent the month of March at this house and had a terrific, relaxing vacation. The neighborhood is very quiet, and trips for entertainment were short and safe. There were no negatives.

We enjoyed our stay in this clean well appointed home. Bird watching was fantastic. Each day we were visited by Great Blue Heron, Anhinga, Turkey Vultures, Cardinals, Woodpeckers (unidentified), Brown Pelican (was fishing in the canal) and Great Egret (being fed by a neighbor). The house is conveniently located near enough to shopping and dining, but far enough for peace and quiet. Visited the Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park to see the manatees and many other Florida birds and animals. Even enjoyed the Hippopotamus! Would recommend for anyone! Judith

My husband and I, another couple and our children rented this home for Labor Day Weekend. The home was amazingly clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting on the porch with cocktails during the evening, as well as by the fire pit. The area was quiet and very private. We would definately rent this home again. The only issue we had was in navigating around the "rocky areas" of the creek with a large pontoon (we broke a prop) -- other than that, an excellent stay!! For those without a boat there is are many close business for rentals. Also, Neon Leon's restaurant is a "must" vistit -- wonderful food and great entertainment.

My family has been going to Homosassa for the last 7 years for scalloping season. For the last 6 yrs we rented a hotel room and every year we would say that next year we are going to rent a house. Well, this year my family rented this wonderful house and we were so pleased. The house is spacious and tastefully decorated and has EVERYTHING you need. If your looking for the comforts of home while your away from home, this house has it. This was the best year for scalloping and the most comfortable we have ever been.
