'The Palms' is a renovated, 2 bedroom 2 bath cottage located near Rogue's Cove marina, on the southern end of Shore Drive, otherwise known as the 'sunshine coast'. Steps carved in the rock lead into the water and provide access to excellent swimming, snorkeling or just relaxing. The 20' x 14' tiki hut provides a great spot for lounging and watching spectacular sunsets which we hope will continue on a daily basis. Use of a 2 person kayak is included in your rental.

The Palms is close to lots of beautiful beaches, shopping and many yummy restaurants. Keep in touch with the outside world, if you must, with broadband wireless internet or visit historic Haynes Library in Governor's Harbor for access.

So come and visit and enjoy the warm, relaxed feeling that radiates from our little island!

We stayed for a week at The Palms with another couple. The cottage is situated right on the water affording beautiful sunsets. It was a bit cool the week we were there so we did not do a lot of swimming. My only comment would be to be very good friends with whoever you share the cottage with as the whole ceiling throughout is open and there is not a lot of sound privacy. The beaches all over the island are gorgeous and private--we saw very few people on them. Had a great time. We would go back.

Our two week vacation at The Palms was restful and highly enjoyable. The Palms is a very well maintained, fully equipped and nicely appointed cottage. We have Winter vacationed in the Bahamas for the past 34 years (since 1979) and The Palms ranks as the cleanest vacation site we have ever rented. All appliances and facilities in the cottage were in excellent operating condition. Even the water pressure in the shower was near "U.S. quality"--and within our experience, that's a rarity in the Bahamas. The cottage is fully equipped to accommodate four but we found it to be near perfect for just the two of us. A little over a mile away is a village library where an internet connected computer can be rented for only $5.00/hour (our laptop "bit the dust" the second day of our vacation). The view from the deck of the cottage is toward the West and watching sunsets was one of our favorite evening entertainments but even the stunning sunsets were "second best fare" to the nightly display of the visible cosmos. There is no light contamination near The Palms and there is an unlit public marina about 100 yards away which provides a marvelous dark platform for star gazing. It was a magnificent display on clear nights. For the two weeks we enjoyed The Palms we had the neighborhood to ourselves and we prize privacy . A rental vehicle is probably a necessity since markets and "take away" food is a few miles distant. If you are fortunate enough to vacation at The Palms we recommend getting fresh vegetables at the nearby farm market. We found Barrow's market in Governor's Harbor to have all the food supplies we required. The bakery in Governor's Harbor has some of the best whole wheat bread we've ever tasted (available daily about 11:30AM). We enjoyed the Blue Room take away suppers. They are well prepared and very filling (don't miss the plantain side dish). The Sunset restaurant has a decent menu and very friendly service. On weekends we were able to get ribs, potato salad and peas and rice take away dinners from 3J's which is only a little over a mile from The Palms--great potato salad! While we had a wonderful vacation, Eleuthera has so much to offer that two weeks was insufficient time for us to see, do, taste all that we found interesting--so we will be returning.

Thank you, Joan and Tim for your hospitality! We had a wonderful stay in your cottage. It felt like home, like we belonged there and it was perfect in every way. Eleuthera exceeded our expectations in every way. We enjoyed excellent food everywhere we went, from Harbour Island to Cape Eleuthera. Friendly and helpful people along the way gave us directions and showed us where the beach accesses were. The fishermen offered us lobster, snapper and grouper freshly caught. And, of course, we had a great time discovering beautiful natural beaches for walking and swimming. There were also sunsets and more, brighter stars and planets in the sky than we thought possible to see. What a great place to unwind while enjoying a beautiful island and its friendly people. Our minds are filled with images of The Palms and Eleuthera. Marielle and André Laval, Québec

Owner response: Thank you for your very nice review. I think everyone that stays at the Palms should be a travel writer! We realize that visitors are coming to see and explore Eleuthera and want a nice, clean, fun, convenient, and reasonably priced place to stay while they're here. Our goal is to make sure the Palms is all that and maybe a little more. Thanks Marielle and Andre! I hope we see you again soon!

This is an excellent cottage and worked out perfectly for my family. Tim was extremely easy to communicate with and very thorough and prompt with any questions or concerns leading up to our stay. He has fantastic connections on the island and is able to take care of any and all requests immediately, although our stay was uneventful regarding any problems. The property has marvelous swimming and snorkeling right out front, a great shell beach a half mile away, and is within an hour's driving distance of most attractions on the island, including Harbour Island. This was the only cottage along the entire seafront that had sand, easy access to swimming and snorkeling, the Tiki Hut was completely relaxing as was the cottage which included A/C for those hot nights, cable to wind down after fun-filled days, an efficient kitchen where we even baked corn bread, and very comfortable bedrooms and baths. Governors Harbour is very nearby for any grocery or other needs, and there are many places to eat easily within a half hour...our favorite was the Rainbow Inn. I truly recommend this cottage and its owner, Tim. He was a tremendous host and the cottage and location were top drawer for quiet and relaxation.

After an unbearable experience with the airlines (multiple flight cancellations without explanation), we finally arrived in paradise in South Palmetto Beach, Eleuthera. Tim, the owner of the Palms, had arranged for some of his friends on the island to meet us and show us the property AND EVEN LEFT THE PERFECT WELCOME GIFT TO GREET US! I won't spoil the surprise - let's just say it was appreciated more than they will ever know (TRUST ME, TIM IS THE PERFECT HOST!) Needless to say, it did not take very long to slip into island time and find the peace and relaxation that had somehow eluded us at the airport! Of course, our own private Tiki Bar and our first Eleutheran sunset over the crystal clear Carribbean might have helped with the transition... The house was perfect for our needs - bright and cheerful, with a wide open floorplan, A/C if you needed it after a long day in the sun... We enjoyed the use of Tim's two person kayak for exploring, fishing, snorkeling... We saw grouper, snapper, barracuda, lobster, sea anemones, sea urchins, etc. all right in front of the house! We also did the typical tourist stuff (Lighthouse Point, Surfer's Beach, Spanish Wells, Hatchet/Preacher's Cave, etc.), but honestly, it was a lot of driving and the time we spent simply relaxing at the Palms was the highlight of the entire trip. Trust me, stay local and enjoy yourself - I recommend the Friday Night Fish Fry at Governor's Harbor just for the experience (Did you want flies with that?) - also, put TEN BAY BEACH on your list - it's just right around the corner and about as perfect of a spot as anywhere on this wonderful island. It was truly an amazing experience - I think I left part of myself down there with Tim, Andre, Mr. Freddy and others (maybe it's at Mate & Jenny's?) - guess I have no choice now than to start planning my return trip... Bottom line is: Come to Eleuthera, stay at the Palms and reunite with your soul - it's there waiting for you...

The Palms was exactly what the doctor ordered, check out the video at Tim's website and you'll see what I mean. This quaint 2 bedroom house is right on the Carribean. We went for a week in March & it was one of the most relaxing trips I've ever taken. I read 3 books! We cooked out on the grill, and the kitchen has everything you need too. The Palms does not have granite countertops, but it has a killer view and you can walk down into the Carribean from your own Tiki Bar with hammock & beach chairs. The pictures do not do this place justice, it's nicer than it appears. I appreciated that it was very clean when we arrived. Having 2 full bathrooms was a plus too. Thank you Tim for sharing The Palms & for having such a fun loving witty personality. Peace & Love - Barb & Dave Schlieve

Owner response: Wow! We love to read reviews like this from someone who really 'get's it'. Three books!!! Fantastic! That might be a one week record. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting by the sea in the tiki hut, reading a book, and occasionally walking into the water to cool off. Oh, and let's not forget a refreshing beverage or 2... Boom, you nailed it! It's also fun to explore the different beaches and settlements, fish and snorkel, but it's hard to beat doing nothing. We're glad you had a memorable time on Eleuthera and at the Palms and hope yo come back soon! Tim

What a vacation we had, another great year at the Palms! The area around the house is so quiet and peaceful you'd think you owned the island. Only hearing the birds singing and the fish jumping! Paradise! The house is so very comfortable and cozy, it truly feels like home(and I'm not sure why I left!).The island of Eleuthera is also very fun, perfect pink sand beaches and great fishing (with Paul Petty-the master!), snorkeling is breathtaking, the beer delicious, takeaways with peas and coleslaw to die for! And with your complimentary bottle of rum from Tim & Joan, the party starts right away! If Tim isn't on the island his good friend Chris is there to step in. A very nice and helpful man.Again many thanks to Tim, Joan,Chris & Sue for making our vacation PERFCT! I'm SOOO homesick!

Our family recently spent the most wonderful week at The Palms. Truly, the photos do not do the house and views justice. It is the most beautiful spot to either just sit and watch the spectacular sunsets, listen to the lapping of the sea almost at your doorstep or use as an ideal central location to discover this very special island. Being in the centre of the 110 mile long island, there is much to discover, whether it be walking a deserted beach on the rougher Atlantic side or swimming in the clear turquoise sea on the Caribbean side. But being an island, that too can change and the winds shift to the opposite side. There is never a shortage of beautiful beaches to walk or swim at. The Farm Shop close by is an absolute must to visit, We went there daily to buy the freshest vegetables and bread you could find anywhere. i.e. we watched them being picked and baked there and then! The Palms itself was very comfortable and delightfully decorated and the owners could not have been more helpful with arrangements prior to our visit. The kayak was a wondrful addition to the activities we could do around the house and gave us a completely different perspective of the house and bay. I know that we will back. It was a magical week that we will not forget in a long time.

This was just our speed. Casual, elegant, simple, with everything you need. We even had a tropical storm during our stay and STILL thoroughly enjoyed it. We met sunset on the tiki bar every night. There is not a beach off your door but the water access, ramp, dock cut out of the coral sea wall was perfect for taking a dip anytime. We explored a different beach everyday so not having to combat sand at sunset was better. We will bring our kids next time. Tim and Joan are super nice as all of the island folk.

Myself, my husband and another couple stayed here for a week in March, The photos do not do it justice. We snorkeled right in front of the house, fished in front of the house and at the Marina (a three minute walk). I did catch a couple of bonefish and my husband caught several nice grouper and snapper. We went in town a couple of times to get the fresh catch and lobster. A car isdefinitely reccomended if you want to "experience" the Island. If you want to just get away from it all, then just stay at the cottage. It has beautiful sunsets and the tiki just added to the experience. We thank you so much for allowing us to stay. It was a wonderful week!!!!

Owner response: We're so glad you had a good time on Eleuthera and enjoyed your stay at the Palms. Your conch shell remains in it's special place and awaits your return! So far, you win the Palms fishing award. Thanks for coming and we hope to see you soon! T & J
