Great place! Sit by the fire or relax on the porch, whatever you do you will not be disappointed. This property is very well equipped with everything you need, just bring your toothbrush! The king size bed in the loft is the best, we found this chalet to be very clean, warm, and cozy, perfect for that weekend getaway. Just 10 minutes from the heart of downtown Murphy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Very nice, quiet, convenient couples get away. We loved the location because it is not in the middle of the major tourist areas but a short drive to many. Both the Ocoee and Nantahala gorges are close by (both great locations for white water rafting, zip lines, or just taking in breath-taking views). Definitely visit the Italian Bistro in murphy for lunch, the sandwiches are awesome and the Gelato, well let’s just say there are plenty of places to walk it off. Ashville really is an easy drive and Biltmore House and Gardens are a must see (the winery does free tasting daily). On your drive back I recommend the Blue Ridge parkway over Pisgah Mountain. You can drop off at 74 in Waynesville and your back in Murphy shortly. If you want to just relax, you can’t find a better place. The cabin is very comfortable and sitting out on the deck in the morning sipping coffee or evening with a glass of wine were very enjoyable. Grocery stores (Ingles and Wal-Mart) are 10 minutes away so you can get most anything you want to cook in or grill out (to include wine for sitting on the deck). Warning – the king size bed in the loft is so comfortable you may not want to get out of it and enjoy all the great things to do in the area, but you will.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We try hard to continue to upgrade our cabin- I am so glad you enjoyed it!! Sydney

I was surprised at how much there was to do, and how charning the little town of Murphy was. There is a fun and large flea market on Saturday, and a visit to the John C. Campbell folk school is a must, as well as the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. There were some good books to read in the cabin (If youlike mystery/thrillers) and a scrabble game with dictionary. The chalet is beautifully furnished and comfortable. The cd player was hard to find at first- it's in the little supply closet.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

A relaxing and fun 8 days at this cabin left me feeling invigorated and ready to tackle whatever came my way when I got home. The Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest and the John C. Campbell Folk School were wonderful side trips, and we found some treasures at the local flea market. The town of Murphy is charming,a nd I was surprised at the quality of some of the local restaurants. There is a new firepit and picnic area at the chalet, and some new decorating inside.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A Long Weekend in the Mountains

The amenities at this nicely decorated property were above average. The furniture was high quality, the bed was very comfortable, and it was very clean. There would be enough room for six to sleep but the dining table and tableware will only accomodate four. If you are a coffee lover, be sure to bring your own pot as the one provided was tiny, and the cookware was only okay. There was a beautiful wrap around deck but no comfortable chairs for enjoying it. It is located on a hillside along with other wooded properties but has no view of a lake as was indicated in the advertisement. Most nearby restaurants are very casual or fast food. If you are looking for a place to serve merely as a home base for visiting area attractions it is great, but if you just want to rest and enjoy the scenery, pick another place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: The coffeepot was replaced before this review came out, so that is no longer an issue. Our ad never intended to imply a lake view. "Lake " and mountain" were checked on the listing form, as the property is in the mountains and there is a lake nearby. The view is fully described in the listing and does not claim a lake view. In the listing it specifies that the lake is within 25 miles. However, I have removed "Lake" from the form, so that no one else will be confused by this. Our ad also specifies that the dining table only seats 4, so this should not have been a surprise. As to restaurants, Murphy is a small town. I know of at least one very fine restaurant in town, and one excellent family dining restaurant very near our cabin. As to the porch seating issue, we now have a variety of seating and an outdoor dining table, as well as a fire pit and picnic table in the wooded yard below the home.
