This beautiful home, built in the early 1930's profiled on the 2011 LaMesa Historic Home Tour has both character and charm. In our 3800sf home there are 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, a teenagers gameroom, a gorgeous pool/spa, plus a huge yard, with plenty of outdoor activities.
The master bedroom has a king bed, with attached balconies and gorgeous views. The 2nd bedroom has a queen bed. The master bath has a jetted spa tub. The 3rd bedroom has a queen bed and a private bathroom. The 4th bedroom has a full bed and is perfect if you have children in your party. There is a futon in the Great room.
A crib and alternate sleeping arrangements can be made utilizing the house, as long as we are made aware in advance.
As you walk in, the open Great room immediately captures your attention. There are several sitting areas, that provide ample space to chat, or chill. The living room has a fireplace, open beam ceilings, a flat screen TV, and a large window to enjoy the activities in the pool (with the advantage of never getting wet).
The kitchen is equally comfortable, with a large gas range, double stack gas ovens, fully equipped for your every need.
If you'd prefer, we can provide resources for an excellent caterer to prepare your meals, as well as a cleaning services to take care of any additional cleaning needs you may have during your stay. (additional but reasonable fees for these services).
Our family loves sharing our home, and will make your stay, a wonderful experience.

A family funeral brought 10 of us from around the country to San Diego on very short notice. One call to the owner was all that was needed to make every arrangement. Even though the owners were in residence at the time of my call, they vacated the house to accommodate us! When we arrived late at night, the housekeeper was there to greet us warmly and give us a tour of the large comfortable home. The owners had thoughtfully left us lots of bottled water in the fridge and coffee for the morning, as well as many other niceties. The owner, Kelly, called in the morning, offered to run errands, iron a shirt, shop for groceries--she even took us to the airport at 5:30 in the morning, despite her own schedule as a busy working mom. Her warm kindness and thougtfulness made it possible for us to enjoy being together as a family at a very difficult time. The home is rambling, spacious and comfortable, with large areas for gathering as well as smaller cozy areas to retreat and have privacy. The pool area is just as fabulous as it looks in the pictures, with a hot tub, large deck, grill, etc; the master bedroom is huge and there is a wonderful kitchen, fully equipped. Stunning views and lovely neighborhood. It is the perfect place for a family gathering.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

After having a horrible experience and loosing our deposit to a fake homeowner, I found this home here on VRBO and contacted the owners. From the first phone call to the last hug on the day we checked out, it was an amazing experience! We stayed here on our wedding weekend with a few friends who came in to town, and we also had our reception here. We had 4 couples including myself and my husband, and there was plenty of room for sleeping and mingling without being on top of each other. The house is wonderfully spacious and great for large groups. The night of our wedding reception we have 30 guests over, and the backyard and deck area was absolutely perfect for entertaining! Again, there was a lot of space for everyone to relax around the pool and not feel as if we were in a confined space. The Owners had plenty of tables and chairs on site for us to use, so that saved on rental fees. The owners are the sweetest people you'll ever meet, very helpful and just real genuine down to earth people! Before we even left the home for the weekend, our friends from out of town were already planning a return trip next summer, and asked if we could get this rental again! We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this rental to anyone interested. You won't be disappointed!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Some friends and I stayed at this property 2 weekends ago and couldn't be happier with our experience! The house was absolutely beautiful! Very bright and spacious inside, and gorgeous outside! The pool area was so nice, we didn't leave the house the whole time - just stayed in and enjoyed ourselves... there is a beautiful deck, overlooking a lush grassy yard with a gorgeous willow tree and flowers all around. The master bedroom is huge and has two big patios, one of which is overlooking the pool. The house itself is so very cozy, with a cook's kitchen and a separate dining room. There is a playroom that was just perfect for the kids, as well. Best of all, the owner, Kelly, was amazing! Such a pleasure to deal with and so welcoming. We will definitely stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you so much Kelly :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: Welcome to our home. We are Kelly and Richard Forman, the owners of this beautiful property. We had the good fortune to purchase this estate in 2004, and have loved living here every minute. We frequently travel, leaving the house available for others enjoyment...and it seems only fitting that we share our blessings with others. San Diego is such a warm and welcoming place, our home is certainly the same. We are proud, active parents of 2 boys, ages 14 and 15. I am a flight nurse for Mercy Air Helicopters, and my husband is a cameraman for The Amazing Race and COPS.
Why the Owner Chose La Mesa:
LaMesa is the "Jewel of the Hills" and Mt. Helix is no exception. Located on the mountainside, we have the most incredible views. Our house is located 2 minutes from 2 different freeways. You can be in the GasLamp District downtown, watching the San Diego Padres pay ball, or at the fabulous San Diego Zoo within 15 minutes. SeaWorld is a short 25 minutes away, and LegoLand is 45 minutes. Our neighbors are the greatest....and when it's time to go, we are a quick 15 minutes to the airport.
