  A sweet cottage, nicely designed, with amazing views from the most relaxing balcony. The fully furnished kitchen and the quiet around made us want to stay there for the whole weekend, without even traveling around. Great swimming pool with stunning views and privacy. There are no curtains on the windows what allows us to enjoy more the views around, but woke us up at 6am. As soon as the kind and welcoming owners add curtains on the east-side windows - this place will become heaven on earth.... Highly recommended!!!

  This was by far one of the best weekend getaways I have ever experienced. The views of the valley are stunning and the accommodations are wonderful. The bed was luxurious with high thread count linen and bath towels. The pictures of the property, nice as they are, don't do it justice. The private pool is heated to comfortable 85 degrees and is by far one of the best attributes of the property. This is truly a special place. The hosts are wonderful people, very welcoming, generous and easy going, and they gave us plenty of space. If you are lucky you might even get a private barrel tasting like the one the hosts provided for us. If you are looking for a private getaway in Carmel Valley this is the spot. The value is excellent.

  This well-appointed vacation rental is literally in the middle of an organic, sustainable boutique vineyard with 360 degree views of some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable. Imagine enjoying utter quietness, billions of stars at night, wildlife, and the enchanting aroma of upper Carmel Valley flora while living in a wonderfully comfortable apartment run by two warm and accommodating people, Sal and Kathy. Sal's wine is amazing and captures the beauty and depth of the surrounding land. If you've never had a barrel tasting before (the barrels are right below you), it is a treat not to be missed. Stroll over to the warmly heated pool for a swim with views for miles around. The bed is so comfortable, the kitchen fun to cook in, and the house is well-stocked. The beautiy of this place far surpasses the photos on the site. This is a remote location and not necessarily for everyone, but the beauty and tranquility of this property is unparalleled. We did not want to leave.

  We had the pleasure of staying at the cottage over the Christmas / New Years Eve 2011. The location is beautiful, very clean, and spacious; the kitchen was a bonus, since we could make breakfast before we would head out for the day. The cottage is just as you see it on the website. The views are amazing!!! During the evenings, we would love to stare at the stars, what a sight for us since we live in the city. During the day, the views were equally breathtaking; we enjoyed the balcony just staring at the vineyards in the local valley. I have already recommended the cottage to several co-workers. Hope to make a return visit sometime this year or next. Sal and Kathy are great host's, they made us feel very comfortable and they are very welcoming. We made use of some of the recommendations for dinning they made. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience worth doing.

  To echo the common theme amongst all these well-deserved, 5-star reviews: Sal and Kathy's cottage is hands-down the most charming and memorable place you will find in the area! I can't say enough about their attention to detail, the incredible views, and the amazing Rombi wine. My only regret is that my wife and I only stayed for one night-- we will definitely be back for at least a couple of days to a week so we can really take it all in and enjoy the beauty of the winery and Carmel Valley in general. I recommend you do the same!

  My wife and I recently visited the Carmel area to attend the motorcycle Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. It was fantastic to get away from the noise and crowds associated with the motorcycle crowd. Sal and Kathy's place was a tranquil oasis of beauty and comfort, and,most of all, they made us feel right at home. We only wish we had booked a longer stay.... but we plan to do just that next year!

  My wife and I recently stayed in this wonderful cottage. We wanted to get away from it all and enjoy some solitude, a little luxury and celebrate our wedding anniversary. We got exactly what we needed: A very warm welcome and introductory tour, a luxurious cottage with all the amenities one could ever need (including chocolate), a beautifully situated pool, fantastic scenery and a beautiful vineyard in which you are free to gather your thoughts and watch the stars emerge. Carmel Village is a beautiful 20-25 minute drive away (Be ready to feel like a local when Sal toots his horn and greets you from the other side of the road) and has some fantastic sources of sustenance should you wish to explore beyond the cottage. We had a fantastic time. Sal and Kathy are wonderfully engaging hosts and are both discreet and responsive to anything you might need. Highly recommended if you wish to get away from it all.

  To be far from the madding crowd, and to come home to enjoy a five star “rustic” cottage was wonderful. The description of the owners is absolutely accurate, but does not do it justice. It was immaculate, and inviting. There was such a nice quality to the cottage, and it was equipped with everything that a person would need to stay there and never move if they wished, and that in itself is alluring. Little touches from comfy robes, breakfast in the fridge to welcome you and of course Sal’s wonderful merlot and cabernet sauvignon, to name a few. Putting the cottage on the second floor was brilliant as you were then able to enjoy a panorama of vineyards and forests, with barely a house in sight. And to wake up with light to the right and sunrise to the left was fabulous. And the hosts were wonderful.. You can hike inland such as in the Pinnacles National Park or Los Padres State Park, visit restaurants and tasting rooms about a half an hour away, or head off to the ocean. We cannot wait to come back and would recomend it to others who want peace and quiet, and comfort.

  We stayed here during the auto week in August, 2010. Sal and Kathy were extremely nice and helpful with information about the Monterey area. The place was exactly as described and there were no unpleasant surprises.The place is immaculately clean and the views are truly spectacular. It is very nicely appointed and was their home prior to building their house next door. It has everything that you would need to live comfortably or if you wish to stay in and do your own cooking. Sal gave us samples of his excellent wine and showed us around the cellar and vineyard. I would highly recommend this property for value, cleanliness, and comfort. It is a bit of a drive from the coast but we felt it was worth it. Would deffinately stay here again.Sal's brother's, La Casa Mia, in Pacific Grove, was the best restaurant that we tried while on this trip.

  I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a weekend getaway, and after much research, I picked this cottage for our stay. It was even better than I had hoped; the owners have gone to great lengths to ensure that their guests feel comfortable and pampered, and the setting is unbeatable – the pictures on VRBO really don't do it justice. The swimming pool and the hot, sunny weather in Carmel Valley were just the icing on the cake. I would highly recommend this property to any couple seeking a romantic retreat.
