  Thank you Barb & Barry, we loved our stay at Villa Santa Barbara. The dinner and drinks upon our arrival after a long plane ride were great. Our suite was clean and beautiful, the housekeeper Dora was excellent. The pool and grounds were very well kept. Enjoyed our morning walks into Barra for breakfast, and along the beach to Melaque. Loved Raul's boat tour around the island and the Grand Bay Hotel. The beaches in this part of Mexico are beautiful and the water is so warm and clean!! We will be back!!

  My girlfriend and i have been to Barra many times and this was the best place we have stayed so far. Life on the quiet canal is awesome. Barry and Barbara are great host, and there accomodations are great. i would highly recommend it and you have to try Doras' authentic Mexican Meals.

  My girlfriend and i have been to Barra many times and this was the best place we have stayed so far. Life on the quiet canal is awesome. Barry and Barbara are great host, and there accomodations are great. i would highly recommend it and you have to try Doras' authentic Mexican Meals.

  We throughly enjoyed our stay at Villa de Santa Barbara. Barry and Barb, the owners, were very accomodating and knowledgeable about the goings on in the area. They spoke spanish as well! The listing description and pictures were accurate; the entire place was beautiful and clean. The day we arrived at the villa we found our fridge held a complimentary dinner and food to tide us over till we could get to a grocery store. We were even provided with wine and beer! How welcoming that was! The location of the villa was great. We could walk to town, to the beach and public market. If we wished to travel to Melaque, (a nearby town with lots of shopping as well) the public bus picked us up on the main street to town or you could flag down a taxi with ease ( inexpensive cab fares!). We experienced wonderful massages performed at the poolside under the palyapa. Fresh baked goods were delivered by boat via the french bakery in the a.m. The afternoons spent at the poolside were glorious as the breeze from the canal kept you at just the right temperature. There was not a day without warm sunshine. At dusk we would saunter into town, sit and enjoy the incredible sunsets and partake in some great restaurants in either areas of Barra de Navidad or Melaque. If we had wanted we could cook at the villa on the outdoor kitchen/BBQ provided, another great alternative. Thank you Barb and Barry for a lovely experience and recommend your place.   We loved our stay at Villa Santa Barbara! Great location, very clean, charming, comfortable suite with all that you need for cooking and entertaining. The French Baker rings a bell each morning as he heads up the canal in his boat delivering fresh baked goods to your door step. Beautiful views of the Grand Bay Hotel in a central, great and safe location. Poolside area is perfect for an afternoon siesta after a swim in the clean, refreshing pool. Great spot for happy hour too. Wonderful owners that could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. We will be back!

  My husband and I booked the studio unit at Villa Santa Barbara in Barra de Navidad so that we could get our new-to-us sailboat ready to go cruising again and not have to live on it while doing the prep. The unit was as advertised, the bed very comfortable, nice bathroom and . . . we really enjoyed the common areas like the palapa and outdoor kitchen and the pool for the warm afternoons. We really enjoyed interaction with the other guests too. Barb and Barry were wonderful hosts and very helpful in guiding us to some "locals" that they could recommend to do some work on our boat. Be sure to eat at Marlena's on the ocean and take a water taxi to have a meal in Colimilla or visit the Grand Bay Hotel.

  Wow - weather was amazing, the owners did everything they could to make the stay amazing! Everything was very clean and anything we needed was there! We enjoyed leisurely mornings and afternoons around the pool on the lounge chairs, had amazing dinners outside at the poolside and I would recommend these accommodations to anyone travelling! You can have beer delivered right to your door and a French Baker comes by on his boat every morning with pastries and bread! Wonderful people and miss them, the sun and my private paradise already!

  Our party of two couples stayed in the Penthouse. What a great place. We were warmly welcomed and had dinner and cocktails waiting for us when we arrived. How sweet is that? Barb and Barry along with Nora and Raul made us feel right at home. The place was wonderful, everything you would have in your own home for cooking. The other guest were great, all of us enjoyed the feast that Nora put on. The french baker that came to dock every morning was fabulous. The view gorgeous, everything was within walking distance. When you go you have to try the shrimp cocktail at Freddies, outside of town on the way to Melaque. Heaven on Earth. We plan to go again. See ya soon Barb.

  All that we had found on these reviews confirmed much research which helped us choose the Penthouse Suite (any of them would be great) for our precious week on the canal in Barra. The surroundings are wonderful, the quiet punctuated by morning and evening birdsong and bird watching, the evening fiesta with Dora's and her mama's skillful and delicious Mexican comida, access to good reads and good kitchens, easy walks to el centro for pesos, groceries, good restaurants (a new one we loved and tried twice is La Magnifica, healthy and tasty and interesting offerings), the comforting reception and ride from ZLO with Raul, and very specifically Barb and Barry who do their hosting so well!

  My wife and I were celebrating our 44th anniversary and Barry and Barb made it special. Also on our arrival they had a welcome sign for us that made us feel at home right away.Great little suite and we were very happy thee. Thanks Barry and Barb for a great stay.
