Sunny side up-country cottage with fabulous mountain AND ocean, beautiful rainbows and sunsets. The house sits up on a hill, tucked into Pu'u Ki, also known as Hoku Ula or "Nob Hill" (it feels like a luxury tree house!). The hill protects the house from the occasional winds which help to keep the skies blue in Kamuela. Having lived on the Big Island for over 35 years I discovered this location to be a true gem, central to the island but most importantly the best weather there is. While the most accessible and beautiful beaches only 10 - 20 minutes away one has a nice place up-country to return to and relax after getting plenty of sun all day long. You will find that sleeping in the cooler elevation is deep and satisfying. Rose's Cottage is in a lovely neighborhood / community and offers a feeling of privacy surrounded by verdant rolling hills. Close to town .... just right....with occasional cooling mists resulting in frequent rainbows. Year Purchased: 1996
I purchased this home to raise my daughters in while they attended one of the several private schools in the town of Waimea in 1996. Now, they are grown and have flown the coup so to speak so I will now let others enjoy this lovely home. It is a perfect place for a family to enjoy one another and be centrally located on the Big Island. This is a perfect home for a family re-locating to the Big Island in need of a fully furnished nest to land until they settle into something more permanent. Comfortable, nicely furnished turnkey and in an ideal location!
Why the Owner Chose Kamuela (Waimea)
I chose this location because it is closest to the beaches, on the SUNNY side of Waimea... a charming and lovely pastoral town and a home with wonderful expansive views. This is the best location on the island because of the predictable blue skies and rainbows. It is centrally located so one can easily get to the ocean, to the volcano, Hilo, or Kona. It is only a couple of minutes from shopping and all of the great restaurants Waimea has to offer. The home feels like a tree house, private and cozy.

This house is like a tree house perched upon a hill with trees surrounding it. It is located in the HEART of Kamuela and has views of both mountains and the ocean! The sunsets are breathtaking and the large windows make you feel as though you are one with it all. This home is only 10 - 20 minutes away from the most amazing beaches on the Big Island!
