EAST BEACH: @ The Historic Coast Guard Station is 1.9 miles. Take a left out of the complex, a left turn onto Demere then a left turn (at the blinking light) at the East Beach Causeway, go straight ahead to EAST BEACH. 3 LEFTS and you're at the BEACH! with lifeguards,outdoor showers and restrooms.

Why the Owner Chose Barnes PlantationWe wanted a place we were able to drive or fly to easily. 45 mins. north of Jacksonville Airport (JAX) 20 mins to Glynco airport,(BQK) 1hour south of Savannah airport (SAV) . We live on Long Island enjoy the Long Island Sound and Atlantic. SSI is all we were looking for on the coast, a high education and low crime rate. I have met people from all over the world who retire and bring their skills from art to theater to gardening. Their privacy is highly respected. True Southern Hospitality and the wonderful laid back experience will be a delight to you and your family. There are also many DAY TRIPS: For a historic city: SAVANNAH is 1 hr north. For the ROMANTIC: Jekyll Island is 15 mins away. Book the horse & buggy ride For the NATURALIST: Little SSI 10 mins by ferry. For the GAMBLER: Emerald Princess cruise. Next to the Sidney Lainer Bridge $$ The 4 mile causeway drive from the mainland is breathtaking!!

The flowers at the main entrance and immaculate landscaping through out make it so inviting. Its our home away from home and we get there as much as possible, especially in the winter from the ice and snow. Redfern Village across the street has many interesting galleries,dining and boutiques. Enjoy Fridays for " An Evening at Redfern" The condo is so comfortable with everything I need. I love to relax by the Pool. With 24 hr gym, pool bathrooms, porch,& BBQ. The gunite pool renovation is FINISHED!! Be one of the first ones to use the "BRAND SPANKIN NEW POOL" All new pool furniture! New sling back lounge, patio chairs & umbrellas. No other complex has such a wonderful pool.It will exceed your expectations. NEW IS GOOD! The condo is located a few steps away from the pool & clubhouse. Plenty of parking on 3 sides in the quiet,shady back of the complex with bldg #5 in the distance,and only parking garages on the other side. The best location in the complex.

I dabble in art and loved my photography career. I have worked art shows and also critique. My husband is a sales consultant to the telephone industry. We have 4 kids & 2 grandkids. What drew us to SSI was our first visit to Jekyll in 1998. We watched the Sidney Lainer Bridge being built an engineering marvel) and laugh at the times we waited for the old draw bridge to open. My husband said that's how its done... SLOW. We saw some changes but love the building code (no high-rises). There have been many improvements to SSI, one of the best being, NEPTUNE PARK in the village. A well thought out master plan. We watched it being built in Feb 2009. A NEW Water Wonderland for all ages. It features 3 connecting pools with a kids water park, playground, mini-golf and water aerobics. What a view overlooking the Atlantic Ocean & Jekyll Island! Please be assured your stay at our place is well worth the modest cost. I am only a email/phone call away to answer ANY questions you have.

We had such a lovely spring vacation @ Barnes Plamtation unit #421! Beautiful condo, everything we needed was there! St. Simons was gorgeous too! Stunning weather & we loved the pool!

This was my first time searching online for a condo to rent for vacation. I can now say I will never stay at a motel again unless necessary. The condo was extremely nice and clean as well as beautifully decorated. It was centrally located to everything we wanted to do while on vacation. The owners made the process easy and quick. They where very helpful with anything we needed. One of the attractions was the quiet around us. While on vacation we road our bikes around the area to the local shops and to eat. Loved the "Outback" (within walking distance) and "Bennies Red Barn". The beach, light house and pier were close by. We attended a wedding at a local club and I can tell you from what I saw the rooms offered at the club where nothing compared to the condo and where twice the cost. I was so glad I didn't rent a condo from this particular club. I will most certainly return to SSI and my hope is I can stay at the same condo again. I would recommend Barnes Plantation to anyone looking to get away for a beautiful and peaceful retreat.

This was our second year staying at this lovely condo. Last year we came in Jan. and this year spent Feb. here. It is a fantastic place. Squeaky clean and nicely decorated. As a cook, I enjoy the well equipped kitchen. The central location cannot be beaten. You can walk almost anywhere. Our cat loved looking at the other animals from the closed in porch. He talked to the squirrel living in the tree ourside everyday. We will return.
