We have tried many times to book a reservation at this inn while visiting our children at Furman University. Finally we where able to stay for a night in October, and now I understand why there is often no availability at this inn. The accommodations are luxurious, the décor is stunning and Maryellen was a wonderful hostess. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and the kitchenette is modern and has everything you need. The setting is so convenient to shops and restaurants in Travelers Rest and the Swamp Rabbit Bike Trail is right across the street. Thank you Maryellen for making our quick visit to Furman so enjoyable and we look forward to staying with you again in the future.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our 2 months stay at the Magnolia Inn was absolutely amazing. The cottage is a quaint little hideaway in a wonderful small town. I enjoyed walking to Furman each morning on the beautiful "Swamp Rabbit Trail", located just across the street from the Inn. We loved relaxing on the porch in the evening with the scent of Honeysuckle in the air. The owner, Mary Ellen,is a true Southern Belle, she allow you to make the cottage your home (so much so that you hate to leave), while still attending to your every need. Her daughter, Holly, makes wonderful strawberry shortcakes (she had them waiting for us upon our arrival). You just could not ask for any place better.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We are Greenville natives, now retired to Steamboat Springs, Co. We love to spend the fall and part of the spring back in SC. We've rented condos in the past and stayed in our nice motorhome, tho there is no nice RV park Greenville, save for Paris Mt. We were between motorhomes and found Maryellen's cottage on vrbo. What a delight! The location is so accessible to Greenville and the cottage is quiet, nicely outfitted and met all of our expectations and beyond. Friends and family visited often and marveled at our "digs". We love to bike and easily "hopped on" the Swamp Rabbit Trail to head to Greenville. We met folks and took hikes at Jones Gap and Caesars Head, and found road bike routes on the local "Greenville Spinners' website to see some spectacular scenery of the area and Blue Ridge Escarpment that these Greenville SC natives did not know of. We took possession of our new Motor Coach during our stay and Maryellen installed electrical hookups with the plans for full hookups for a single luxury RV site....something sorely needed in this area. Downtown Travelers Rest offers quite a few nice dining options, the library is close and accessible and Magnolia Inn is next door to the local post office. We had such a comfortable experience, we cannot wait to go back!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This place was fantastic! Clean and comfortable with hospitality second to none. Not sure what more I can say that others haven't already said. Mary Ellen was an excellent host and told us a lot about the area. We enjoyed Greenville and the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are seriously thinking of relocating here and staying at Magnolia Inn certainly added to our great impressions of the area. It was so nice to walk on the Rabbit Swamp pathway and then come back home to jump in the pool. It was private, spacious and again, quite comfortable. She even had a few groceries for breakfast the next day. We highly recommend it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much, Maureen, for this wonderful review. Let me know how the sale of your house is going?

Our stay at The Magnolia Inn was perfect. We felt like we were coming home every day after exploring the Greenville area. The bedrooms and bathrooms were incredibly spacious and homey all at once and the kitchen and living areas provided everything we needed. There was even a comfy little reading nook by a window. All of the amenities were perfectly thought out – for us, it was the covered porch with picnic table and rocking chairs that quickly became our favorite spot for morning coffee, as well as for dinner. We so appreciated the owner, Mary Ellen, sharing her abundant love and enthusiasm for the Travelers Rest area with us. Just a wonderful experience!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

The Magnolia Inn is such a beautiful property! The location is unbelievably convenient but has a remote, peaceful feel that's just hard to describe. The photos are gorgeous but they don't do the place justice. The accomodations are immaculate, tasteful and welcoming. The pool and gazebo area is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the SC sun. Jogging and biking trails abound and overlooking nothing, the Inn has bikes available for your enjoyment. Seldom in this day and time do you find a place that actually EXCEEDS your expectations but this property does. While the Magnolia Inn itself is excellent...in my opinion, the nicest thing about the property is the owner. Warm, generous and welcoming...she cares for her guests in a way that makes you feel very special. I can't recommend the Magnolia Inn highly enough.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had an excellent experience at the Magnolia Inn for 9 days in June. The property was clean and well maintained and all amenities were excellent, including the pool, front porch with rocking chairs, flat screen televisions, kitchen with snacks and utensils, bathroom and laundry, and just too much to list. We had no complaints at all. Mary Ellen was excellent and was always available for assistance. We also enjoyed very much Williams Hardware with excellent food and live music on Saturday nights! We would definitely stay again and we recommend the Magnolia Inn as an excellent find in Travelers Rest!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I rented the cottage for a week and what a delightful stay we had. The owner MaryEllen is a very kind lady. Her hospitality during our stay was wonderful. The cottage gave us all the comforts of home while we were away. Downtown Greenville is only minutes away and Falls Park is a beautiful place to visit as well as the downtown area. We also went to the Smokey Mountains in Tennesse and it was only a couple of hours away. Great location to stay will definetly stay again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the entire month of August 2010 at the Magnolia Inn Cottage. The location was very convenient for taking day trips to nearby areas such as Hendersonville and Asheville, North Carolina as well as Table Rock and Paris Mountain in South Carolina. The city of Greenville is just a short drive away and is not to be missed. It must be the most beautiful city in South Carolina with its tree lined main street and outdoor cafes and the fabulous Falls Park. The main street in Travelers Rest is a picturesque part of the Swamp Rabbit Trail and we walked it quite often during our stay. We enjoyed eating at the Cafe at Williams Hardware a few times and I can certainly recommend their Rueben sandwich. We were so pleased with the comfort, cleanliness, and location of the Magnolia Inn that we plan another month's visit next year. The owner, Mary Ellen, is a delightful lady and we would not hesitate to recommend her cottage to others.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I, and another couple stayed in this charming cottage while visiting nearby family. It was beautiful, spacious, and clean. The owner went above and beyond to be sure our visit would be enjoyable and that we would need for nothing......you would never get that from a hotel/motel chain. Recommended to all.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We all had a wonderful time in Travelers Rest. We especially enjoyed being invited to share Thanksgiving with your family. I told my wife that the people in South Carolina are the most friendly of any place around. Now she believes me.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I can't begin to explain how much fun we all have had here at the cottage. The interior is beautiful and the front porch allowed for two weeks of bonding and great conversations. Looking forward to returning soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
