We were welcomed by the owners personally. They were kind and gave me some history on the home. The home is CLEAN and beautiful. You can tell a lot of care, money and energy went in to restoring the old home. We had a wonderful experience and will absolutely rent again! It is close to Cumberland and Rice Lake and very easy to get to. Thank you for such a nice stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

We needed a place for family to stay while attending a family wedding. Our group ranged in age from 10 to 72. It could not have been more perfect. The house is decorated beautifully and is immaculate!! My son said "Wow" I want them to come to my house." It made me want to move in or plan something else so I could stay again soon. Three of my grandchildren were from CO. and loved the tire swings, ( which were great for family pictures). The hosts, Richard and Dianne were outstanding and immediately make you feel at home. The house is stocked with anything you would ever need and then some. We have rented homes both in Az. and Fl for winter vacations and have not been disappointed but this, this one goes to the top of the list. OUTSTANDING!!! LOVED IT!! It comes highly reccommended from those of us from MN. and CO.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Itwas time for sisters and cousins to get together and we decided to meet in Cumberland, where our parents grew up. We decided to stay at fthe Farmhouse and WOW!! It was a pleasure to make reservations with Diane and Richard and the accommodations could not have been more perfect for 7 ladies. Our get togethers are so special and over the years we have gone to many locations, but this will be the most memorable and we plan to meet here again. Everything about the Farm is storybook - from location to decor to scenery. We enjoyed sitting on the porch (in rockers) morning and evening and cooking our favorite family recipes, we got some quilting done and my sister gave us a cello concert. This home makes you feel like you are home and we wished to have stayed longer. Thank you Diane and Richard for your gracious hospitality.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The Farmhouse Retreat is an absolutely wonderful place to spend time when in the area. The photos honestly do not do it justice. The interior is so beautiful with each room adorned with family treasures and historical pieces that have been in Diane's family. The surrounding gardens are also very nice with an array of flowers and immaculate landscaping. Diane and her husband have created a wonderful retreat and were very welcoming when we arrived, including fresh flowers in the kitchen and on the front porch. I can honestly say that this was one of the first times that my teenage son told me that he wished we could stay longer. And my husband and I could not have agreed more, we will definitely be back again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Great Home for a Family Reunion
Great Home for a Family Reunion

My extended family came to the Rice Lake/Cumberland area for a family reunion. Ten of us stayed very comfortably in this lovely home. Upon arrival we met the owners who graciously showed us around their home while answering our qusetions. The home was clean and well maintained. It was nice to have access to such a large outdoor area/lawn.The kitchen was well stocked. It had with everything we needed to host a picnic for our part of the reunion. When thunderstorms cancelled our picnic at a local park, we were able to open up the garage and pull picnic tables in and everyone was able to enjoy themselves. We were in the area for 5 days. This home became our 2nd home during that time. We hope to enjoy it next time we are there for a reunion. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great home to stay in in the Cumberland/Rice Lake, WI area.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The Farmhouse is a wonderful country family retreat! Three bedrooms upstairs provides great space for the kids and grandkids, leaving the downstairs bedroom for another generation. The home has been nicely updated. The yard is huge, beautiful and well maintained ... and there are swings and yard games for kids of all ages. The country roads have little traffic and are great for long walks and great bike rides: go west for easy, flat rides or head southeast for more challenging hills. The large, single stall garage easily fir our Jeep Grand Cherokee with room left over for bikes. Only 5 miles to the Cumberland airport, it's a great spot for pilots to stay while getting a tail wheel ore float plane endorsement. Last but not least, the owners accommodated our special needs with warmth and good humor. We'll no doubt return another year to The Farmhouse Retreat!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I would like to say that the pictures for this house do NOT do it justice. The owners put in an amazing amount of work into this gorgeous place. My girlfriends and I walked in and were in awe. You have everything you could possibly need to cook or bake and the bedrooms were the perfect size. We stayed during the winter and had a blast. Cant imagine the fun you could have in the summer time. Great Stay and Great Price. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Why the Owner Chose Cumberland:
This farm has been in my family since 1891 when my grandparents purchased the land from the Knapp-Stout Lumber Company. They cleared the land, built the farm, raised their family, and it has been the center of family activity since those days. In 2008 my husband and I completely renovated the house, inside and out, and it has since continued to provide the perfect gathering place for family and friends. We now would like to share this special place with you with the hope that you will enjoy your time in this special place as much as our family.
