Private ground floor apartment in newly renovated Hawaiian style home steps to ocean and a short walk to Magic Sands Beach. Magic Sands Beach features beautiful white sand, crystalline, turquoise snorkeling water, and boogie boarding. Kahaluu Beach Park with surfing and snorkeling in waters teeming with colorful fish and turtles is within walking distance. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, a living room/dining room, 1 bathroom with shower, and a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, and toaster oven. In the master bedroom you will sleep to the sounds of the ocean waves on a beautiful king-size four post bamboo bed. The second bedroom has two single beds. The apartment is furnished with designer quality island style Pacific/Asia furniture and decor. The apartment has a lovely private, fenced Bali style garden and patio with many exotic tropical plants and flowers. The yard features a hand-carved thatched gazebo from Bali, Indonesia as well as a unique Cham Cambodian sculpture/fountain from northern Thailand. Though the view of the ocean is mostly blocked by lush foliage and trees in the neighbors' yards, you can clearly hear and smell the ocean which is only steps away.

the place was nice but there's no stove ! They advertise as apt but there was only a hot plate@and it was from the 60- it took anhour in morning to make bfast the knob was broke off it when I said something they said they knew it was broke .when I asked about stove they said cooking smelled and they didn't want people to cook ! Well don't advertise an apt then . They live up stairs and there isn't insulation you can hear there tv and there conversation . Every time we went in private back yard they would come out above us like they were watching us listening to us ! It's ad says no smoking so you think that means in house right ? The first morning we were there I went into back yard had coffee and a smoke , a half hour later there was a note on door warning about no smoking anywhere in the property ! . We stood out in the road the next 10 days we respected there property cleaned up when we left and 30 days later still haven't got back security deposit left messages and email no reply ! It's a shame because it is close to beach and the back yard is nice if you don't mind them on porch above you watching you cook , read ,talk and them up and moving at 530 am there kitchen is right over your bed . bumber ! !

Owner response: This guest phoned me in an extremely aggravated state one month after his stay, saying that he had not yet received his security deposit refund. I told him that I would check with VRBO immediately. Within an hour I was contacted by VRBO and told that they had then and there refunded his deposit. Shortly after I spoke with VRBO, I received notice that this guest had submitted a review of his stay. To say the least, his review was extremely negative and upsetting to me. It was very curious to me that this guest would write such a review if not simply out of anger over his security deposit refund, because just before he checked out, he asked me about returning later in the year and staying with me again. During his stay, I spoke with him several times, and he seemed very happy and content. In his review, this guest took great issue with the fact that the apartment did not have a stove. In my description of the apartment I list exactly what is provided in the kitchen. My previous guests have found the two-burner hotplate quite adequate. Furthermore, this guest did not tell me he had issues with the hotplate until just before he left on his last day. At any rate, the hotplate has been replaced with a heavy duty 4-burner cook top. To continue, this guest was also very upset about my no smoking policy. In the description of my vacation rental, I explicitly state, NO SMOKING. I am particularly insistent about this with regard to marijuana. This is because of security issues and because my vacation rental is located in a very nice, wholesome neighborhood where this is very much frowned upon. As for this guest's presumptions that he was being watched and listened to, they are not only false, but ridiculous. I seriously guard my own as well as my guests' privacy very strictly. Finally, at the end of this guest's stay, he mixed up his check-out date. He caused both me and the guests who were supposed to check into his apartment much time, trouble, and expense. I believe that both the displaced guests and myself handled this situation with grace and aloha. I only wish this guest could have been more gracious and flexible in dealing with the glitch in his security deposit refund.

We stayed at this place for 5 days and felt very comfortable. It is very close to white sands beach and Kahalu beach ( famous snorkeling spot) . This is a good place for small families.

About the owner: When I first visited the Big Island in 1977, I fell in love with it. The snorkeling, diving, surfing, etc. were fabulous. Also, I loved the fact that the old Hawaiian culture was still prevalent here unlike in other more developed parts of the islands. In 1979 I bought a coffee farm in Honaunau on the lush slopes of Mauna Loa overlooking City of Refuge. After living over 20 years in the lovely mauka area of Kona, in 2008 I purchased my beach house in White Sands.
