Year Purchased: 2008
A husband and wife combo of Canadian entrepreneurs fell in love with Costa Rica upon our first holiday here. The laid back atmosphere as well as the exceptionally friendly people and good food were the decision makers for us. In addition we found the flora and fauna abundant and easily accessible with many national parks. Our activities included a 10 minute drive to a blue flag snorkeling beach at Ocotal, a volcano tour including zip lining, water slide, horseback riding, hot springs and typical Costa Rican lunch. Our family and friends who have visited us rave about the scenery, the food, and the variety of activities available to them locally. We return as often as possible and have found many friends from all over the world that now reside here as well.

Great Location for Our Trip to Guanacaste

My wife and I just returned from spending a little more than a week at Frank and Linda's place in Playas del Coco. We really enjoyed staying there. It was a clean and safe place to stay with wonderful neighbors to socialize with. We loved the pool, secure parking and the convenient access to the nearby beaches (especially Playa Ocotal) and parks. We did a lot of day-tripping to beaches like Flamingo and Tamarindo, to National Parks like Palo Verde, Santa Rosa, Rincon de la Vieja and Tenorio Volcano, as well as a visit to the Lllanas del Cotez waterfalls. All of these places were with an hour to an hour and a half. There are several nearby markets, bakeries and grocery stores as well as some excellent restaurants within walking distance. We had a great day fishing off the coast. Thanks for making our second trip to Costa Rica a wonderful trip.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Frank and Linda were great host. The condo was very clean, and comfortable. The full size stove was an extra plus as most of the condo's don't have an oven. The mosquito's were only out at night! A car is not necessary here because everything you need is within walking distance. There was an issue with parking (which Frank solved) and you are not allowed to do your own laundry (drop off). The complex is very pretty, the people very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again!!!
Recommended for:Girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, families with young children.

I rented the condo for 2 weeks in october but we left 2 days earlier. The condo was like in the pictures but when I arrived it has been cleaned a long time ago so it had spider webs, dust and dead bugs in the floor. The kitchen had everything I needed and it was clean. I could´t use the bed pillow cover the first night as they were filthy, and I had to wash them first. The pool was really nice and my two children had lot of fun there. But it was so many mosquitos that you couldn't sun bed. There was no Wifi, so I had to pay someone $10 to uses theirs as I really needed it close to the condo in the evenings when the children where sleep. There was no mobile phone ether but likely the security people was very helpful and called taxies for me. I felt very safe too. Close to everything so that was nice.
Owner response:Ana: We are sorry that your stay in the Cocomarindo complex was not up to your expecttions. We are absentee owners and depend on the management to do what we pay them for. The issue with a filthy cover should not have happened. I pay to have the unit cleaned prior to your arrival,once during your stay and again when you leave. APPARENTLY the washers and dryers have not been working properly I found this out today since I arrived back in Costa Rica on Monday. The WiFi was to be installed by the new property managers but that too was not done. I would have made a cell phone available but you did not request that one be available until after your arrival. It takes time to get the phones activated in this country. Mosquitoes are a part of the environment n Costa Rica and during the rainy season they are not controlable. We thank you for you review and now that we are back to address these issues ourselves it will not happen again.

My husband and I had a great time at Cocomarindo. It was affordable, clean and close to town. We enjoyed the area a lot. It was right in the middle of a Tico neighborhood and also close to town. Grocery stores were about 5 minutes walking. We also appreciated the friendly people working at the internet cafe and the security people in charge of the complex. The pool at the complex is big with plenty of room to lay out. Frank was extremely friendly with plenty of tips and advice.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed for a week at Cocomarindo. The accommodations were clean and well-equipped. Frank and Linda (the owners of the condo unit) have done a good job with decorating and supplying the condo with anything you'd need during a short or long stay. They're also happy to answer any questions and give advice. The area feels very secure with frequent walk-throughs by friendly security. The location is ideal: out of the way of the commotion of town, but still only a few minutes walk to the store or beach. The pool is amazing and not usually crowded. It's also great spot from which to watch the howler monkeys behind the condo. It would be a little cramped for 4 people, but definitely comfortable for a couple.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

You couldn't ask for better hosts. Frank and Linda prepared a wonderful welcome and were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Our lovely one-bedroom unit was clean, newly furnished and equipped with everything we needed. The resort complex, located within walking distance to the beach as well as shops and restaurants, was nicely landscaped and featured a gorgeous pool - great for chillin' on a hot day. We only wish we were able to stay longer ...
