We look forward to time spent in Cedar Key and find it a great way to completely decompress and recharge our batteries! The fishing pier, public beach, shopping, post office and store are all within a block of the cottage. Boat rentals are available for exploring the uninhabited islands surrounding Cedar Key, the photo is of Seahorse Key taken during Christmas 2009.
Why the Owner Chose Cedar Key
Cedar is our secret getaway on the Florida Gulf Coast. Secluded, uncrowded, Cedar Key is a small resort town right on the water with a rich history. The public beach, fishing pier and marina are within walking distance as is the historic downtown. The cottage is surrounded by nature preserves that you will not be able to experience anywhere else. We love it here and hope you do too!
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
The cottage is located in the center of Cedar Key and within a stone's throw to everything. You can get up early and fish at the public pier, rent a boat or a golf cart to explore the island or the nature preserves that surround Cedar Key. Spend the day at the public beach or shopping in the town's historic district. Gainesville is a short drive away as is the University of Florida and can make for an interesting day trip from the cottage.

Great location and well equipped. We stayed on the lower floor with full kitchen. The covered parking is a great perk. Can walk to everything so the car is not needed. Missed not having an ice machine in the fridge. By Monday, the town had run out of ice. Everyone uses Gainsville Ice and they did not deliver until Tuesday, after the holiday. Also missed not having a TV in the bedroom. The only hassle was with the door. We had to contact the rental agent to learn how to fiddle with the key to get it to work. Key has to be slightly pulled out to work. Sorry to see that Frog's landing was gone. Missed Jimmy Frog and his food and music. He was part of the character of Cedar Key. The new place, Steamers, is a joke, overpriced, poor service and poor attitude, and the owner is supposedly the owner of a successful bistro in Clearwater. Guess it is a management problem and will eventually shake out.

Awesome. Absolutely awesome place to stay in Cedar Key. The first thing I did when we got home was book our next visit 565 1st Street!. Just a short stumble from the Island Hotel and the bars on Dock street. The boat ramp was close I sprinted back and forth launching. Yes, that flash of 215 lbs of man was me!
