Our vacation home offers so much for a family to do. Leadville is a historic mining town close to Copper Mountain, Ski Cooper, Vail and Beaver Creek ski areas. The historic downtown features the Tabor Opera House, the National Mining Museum Hall of Fame, numerous antique shops, thrift shops, restaurants, cafes, saloons, sports shops, as well as ice cream, candy and fudge shops, all within walking distance, This is one of the very last historic mining towns in Colorado to retain much of its original charm.
The original part of this home was built in 1888. It has been significantly enlarged and completely remodeled. It is one of the largest and most comfortable homes in the downtown historic district. Although there are only 3 literal bedrooms, there are multiple other semi-private dens and alcoves with sofa sleeper-beds. The house easily can accommodate up to 14 people. There are spectacular mountain views off the large back deck overlooking a ring of 14-thousand foot peaks to the west, and 13-thousand foot peaks to the east in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. In addition to snow skiing and snowboarding, there are multiple cross country ski trails, a large snow sledding/tubing hill, snowmobile rentals, and dog mushing tours. In the summer, hiking, biking, river rafting, mountain climbing and golfing are all available. You can also take a breathtaking train ride through the Aspens and mountain flowers overlooking the headwaters of the Arkansas River on the Leadville & Southern Railroad. If you have an interest in mountain biking, the Leadville Trail 100 start and finish line is two blocks away.
This home is heated by base-board heating, so in the winter it is warm. There is a river-rock fireplace area with wood-burning stove in the living room and Direct TV with HD flat screen. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to entertain family and friends. There is a TV and pool table in the basement. Our kids even like to sleep downstairs in the basement near the pool table while they play video games.
There is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer available. The house is located on a city corner and the property sits on 4 city lots. There is a one care garage, plus extra room to park additional cars and even an RV.

We shared this well appointed home with another family (two couples and 4 big boys!) and there was plenty of space. Kitchen was well-stocked and the property well-maintained. Walking distance to downtown Leadville. Loved the mudroom for keeping ski equipment. The master suite is FABulous! We will definitely come again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

We stayed at this property while in Leadville for Skijoring (lots of fun) and skiing. We enjoyed the stay and the house. It is very comfortable and has everything you might need except for groceries. Being only one block from downtown, we walked to Skijoring and restaurants. What fun! We will be back. We would highly recommend staying at this home. The mountain top views from this home are beautiful. We had a group of 6 adults and 7 children and were very relaxed. The accomodations were great! The house was clean, beds were comfortable, plenty of room and we never ran out of hot water!! The location of this home offers easy walking access to the town. The children were able to ice skate and sled in town.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The moment we drove up, this mellow yellow home in Leadville said "welcome and make yourself at home" which we did - for nine nights! This home offers so much - clean and spacious, a warm and charming decor, lots of light-filled windows and a large deck with great views including snow-capped mountains, fire-in-sky sunsets, and fabulous cloud formations. Each of us had our favorite spot in the home such as pool table in basement, sitting room off master bedroom for great reading, upstairs den for relaxing board games and front yard bench for watching the aspen leaves flutter in the breeze. We appreciated the convenience of a garage to safely store our bikes and a washer/dryer for needed laundry. Even loved the mudroom! This home location offers an easy ride to the Mineral Belt Trail and a quick stroll to downtown. So many fun things to do nearby such as hiking and biking (serious and leisure), fishing, enjoyable train ride along with interesting local museums. We certainly recommend this home and Leadville as a vacation destination!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

What a great place! Clean, big, very nicely updated, great kitchen, satelite TV, wireless internet and laundry.....and a block from the Silver Dollar Saloon! We stayed with 7 adults and two children and it was more than big enough for all of us. The owners were very responsive and it was a very simple transaction. We stayed for three nights over Presidents weekend and had a really enjoyable ski vacation at Ski Cooper. If your looking for an economical ski get away for a couple of families, definitely consider staying at this rental and going to Ski Cooper This house really added to our vacation and I would highly recommend it to anyoneDid you find this review helpful? About the owner: Kim and Austin Anderson have always wanted to have property in the mountains. Our Leadville home offers the comfort of being within walking distance to the s and shops and cafes on main street. We like spending summers there when it is over 100 degrees in Texas. It might be 75 in Leadville for the high that day.
Why the Owner Chose Leadville:
We really like going to the Colorado Rockies from our home in Texas two seasons per year. Winter for skiing and Summer to escape the Texas heat. We enjoy Leadville because it is very historic and quaint.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our kids enjoy taking off to explore and hike. They can go to the town's BMX bike track, the Skate Park, or the indoor pool. It is such a small town, they can go anywhere safely. Even the downtown video store or fudge shop. The freedom they enjoy in Leadville is enlightening, and are always asking when will we be able to return?
