We stayed at this apartment for the weekend, and I just LOVED it! Beautiful residential neighborhood, clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Walking distance to shops, delis, restaurants and bars. Also walked to Prospect Park and through Park Slope. Would highly reccomend staying here, so much nicer that a hotel. Felt like a real "Brooklynite", if only for a little while! Can't wait to go back. Brooklyn is my new Manhatten!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Having lived in NY for 4 years, I was sad to leave back in 2001 for a new job. What has taken the sting out of that move over the past decade has been my regular trips back to the City I grew to love so much. Having experienced what true NY life was about, upon my return visits, regular hotels simply would not suffice. I would stay with friends, except for the fact that repeated crashing on someone's sofa bed is a quick way to lose friends in the City. So, I have been thrilled to be able to stay in this property as a yearly fixture in my life for several years now. When you're visiting the City, you want a place that feels like a home away from home: this garden apartment is exactly that. I don't think the photos do it justice: it really does have a very warm and "homey" feel to it, which is really perfect after a day out moving through one of the busiest places on Earth. The location is great: it's a block from Smith Street, which is one of the best, most authentic places in the City to eat, shop and hang out; especially if you're visiting. The F-train is about a 5-7 minute walk from the front door and you're maybe 3 stops from Manhattan. If you're going to Midtown, it will take maybe 30-40 minutes, door-to-door. I'm happy to say that I have built new NY memories based out of this apartment. I asked my wife to marry me after a dinner in Midtown when we were staying here. I've visited old friends from this apartment. I've seen great shows and exhibits while staying here as well. In short, if you're looking forward to eating at the Times Square Olive Garden, then this place is not for you. If however you would like a more authentic NY experience in an extremely nice place that is more indicative of where a native might live, then please don't miss out on this place. My wife and I both consider it our NY home and I'm convinced that a lot of other people would feel exactly the same way.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

The description and listing are accurate. Neighborhood is safe and fabulous. What problems we encountered were; owner overbooked our first night, mix up on arrival with place not cleaned in time and no one with keys to meet us.Tub/shower situation really unsafe. No lights in kitchen so food prep was difficult. We would never stay here again.Owner response: I'm sorry that this guest had a mix up with his arrival. He did not provide a specific arrival time, and he indicated that he would arrive in the later afternoon or evening, so the maid was preparing the apartment when they showed up earlier in the day. Regarding the over booking one night, we never had the total number of nights requested available, and the overbooking was discovered over a week before the arrival date and I made sure that alternative accommodations were provided within one a and a half miles of our location. We have a beautiful and romantic extra long claw leg bathtub (photos provided on HomeAway site), which is not handicap accessible, sorry. I'm sorry that this guest did not enjoy his stay.

We loved this garden apartment located in the family friendly Carroll Gardens area of Brooklyn. F-train stop was only two blocks away for a direct connection to Manhattan or Coney Island. The bed and sofa bed were very comfortable. A few negative points ..... Bathhroom floor was in need of a deep cleaning. Outside lock was difficult to lock/unlock. Outside light would have been a great help.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We visit our daughter in Brooklyn at least once a year, and we'll stay here again. This garden apartment is just like a home away from home. Close to the subway (F to Manhattan). Very convenient to restaurants on Smith, Court, Clinton and Henry. A small wine bar at the corner of Hoyt and Union (100 feet from the front door). Everything we needed was here: dishes, towels, coffee maker, TV, etc.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We stayed in this garden apartment because our oldest daughter was getting married at the Boathouse in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. It was our home away from home for seven nights as we engaged in all the last minute preparations for the wedding. The apartment turned out to be very convenient to meet up with our daughters since both of them live in Brooklyn. It was also very near the restaurant where the reception was held. Our garden apartment for the week made us feel like true Brooklynites. We walked to the subway a block and a half away, shopped at the nearby delis and grocery stores, and ate at the wonderful restaurants on Smith and Court Streets. We cooked a couple of dinners in the well-equipped kitchen and stayed connected due to flawless internet connection. We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting a unique Brooklyn experience. It is safe, clean and convenient.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We came to Brooklyn to see family and see the NYC sights and really enjoyed our six day stay in this wonderful Brownstone Garden Apt in the Heart of Brooklyn! The garden apt was clean and cozy and we felt like we were in our own home! The garden apt had plenty of room to sleep five people comfortably and had a full kitchen to cook meals. All of the amenities were in good working order. The internet and AC worked well. There was a private entrance and hallway and there were big windows in the kitchen with lots of sunlight. There was a view of the garden from the bedroom. The garden apt is in a safe location for families with children. The neighbors were quiet and the garden in the front and back was pretty and well kept. The garden apt is very conveniently located (within a two minute walk) to great shops and restaurants in the Brooklyn neighborhood and to the subway. The owners greeted us when we arrived and were very welcoming! The owners provided us with helpful information such as a map of the area, recommendations on what to see and do, where to get the best coffee and a reliable car service to the airport. We loved our stay at this lovely garden apt. and we will recommend it to our friends and family. We will definitely plan to come back to stay again soon!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.
