"Lagodima is a great base camp for surfing and other explorations in Nosara and vicinity. The house is efficient and comfortable. It is well set up for surfing, with a short walk to the beach, an outdoor shower, and plenty of covered patio space for hanging wet stuff. The only shortcomings are lack of a washer and dryer (you can take your laundry to Kaya Sol next door for $12 for a huge load) and lack of even basic spices (salt, pepper...) so you really have to buy everything if you want to cook. Agnes, the friendly, capable, and fluently trilingual local manager, says she will remedy this latter issue! Some other tidbits: Juan, at El Punto surf shop across the street, is a Nosara-born Tico and a really great guy. He had the whole family up and surfing in 20 minutes flat. Look no further for board rentals and surf instruction. The little local grocery is actually better in some ways than the larger stores and will likely have everything you need. For excellent, cheap tipicas for breakfast and lunch, head to Rosie's. For a nice dinner, head to La Luna. The Miss Sky cables are long, fast, and high, more than competitive with anything at Monteverde (except no superman or tarzan swings).

Hi Laurie,My husband and I enjoyed our 6 day stay at Lagodima Feb 9th to 14th, 2010. In no time at all we settled right in and it felt like a home away from home. The house was pleasant and just right, a place to sleep (overhead fans worked well, didn’t have to use A/C), a kitchen to prepare meals if we didn’t dine out and a great covered tiled patio to hang out in late into the evening, hey and no mosquitoes! Love love the hammock. We weren’t sure if it was a two person hammock so took turns in it, actually I seemed to be the one in it most of the time. The jungle yard was righteous and the birds that inhabited it entertained endlessly with their bird calls and singing. We got to see the resident iguana up close as he paused while climbing up a tree, he took a look at us and us at him. We took Agnes’s advice and stocked up on groceries in Nicoya before we arrived Nosara and found that the local grocery store had a good selection as well. The central location of Lagodima is a plus, everything was just a short walk away, including Guiones beach.Guiones beach is an incredible place. We loved the fact that there is no development on it and that it has the strip of land reserved between the beach and the village. It is a picture postcard beach complete with a few picturesque coconut trees, shells for collecting, never was crowded, 80 F ocean temperature, beautiful waves to play in (and surf if a person surfs) and the most spectacular 6pm sunsets. The Saturday morning Organic Farmers’ Market was very cool – coconut milk in the shell with straws (always wanted to try that), organic grains and mangos, home-baking, lots of very well crafted jewellery and even some locally made beachwear. I hope you tell future guests at Lagodima about what a nice market it is. I’m a strong believer in Farmers’ Markets and feel they contribute to a local economy and help the grower or craftsperson to be successful.I’d like to recommend taking a day trip to the pottery-making village of Guaitil while staying at Lagodima. Drive to Santa Cruz and then turn right onto a road marked Guaitil, about 1.5 km north of Santa Cruz. It’s a 12km drive on a paved road with scenic pastures and trees that line the road. This town has many family run potteries. The artisans passionately explain the process of how they make and fire their unique burnished pottery, traditions handed down through the generations. We found it an enriching experience and felt good about suppo

Hi Laurie, I've been meaning to email, thanks for following up again. Our stay at your place was perfect, we loved everything about it. The outdoor sitting area, the garden, the location, the management, etc. We ran out of propane for the stove and it was taken care of in an hr, awesome. The arrangement you have with Guilded Iguana in regards to using their pool is brilliant. We quickly became friends with the managers Joellen and Matt, and their 2 yr old Zoe was a great playmate for our daughter. Thank you again for providing such a well managed and beautiful place to stay, we'll definitely recommend it to friends. Sincerely, Lisa

Hello, They stay was amazing and Lagodima was great- the extra person really didn't affect much because they were only there for a very short period. But all in all I would want to stay there again, and probably plan to in the future. Thank you. matt DuMouchel

Hey Laurie Thanks so much for the follow-up email. We had a great time, as always, and very much enjoyed the accommodations. The waves were fun all week and when not at the beach, we were relaxing under the portal. No problem on the hammock chair...we took turns on the hammock. I didn't expect to use the television at all, but it turned out that Costa Rica played two important matches last week to qualify for the World Cup. Agnes was great, as was Juan and the maintenance crew. So, thanks again for a great stay. Be well, Matt

We loved your place, it was perfect for our needs. The best part was all the good pots, pans, utensils and dishes so that cooking and food storage was so easy. Oh, you have the same coffee pot I have at home, I didn't complain because I haven't bought myself a new one but they ALL drip/leak when you pour them. The good part, they are unbreakable and durable and the coffee they make is good. Again, we had a great time and the Sat. TV and the shower and everything else was great! Hi Everything was good...we loved the convenient location, check-in and check-out were smooth...enough bedding, towels, etc., liked the separate toilet and shower room, a/c was effective at night when we used it, fans were good and strong. The only downside was the lack of a sharp knife, a lighter for the stove and a full set of crockery. We would definitely stay at Lagodima again. Thanks, Beverly Jacobsen

Hi Laurie, Our stay was fine. We had fun with the cats and coons which all wanted to come in and see what the accomodations were like. The roads into Nosara had been graded, so it was like we were in a second world country instead of a third. We'll contact you again when we go again. Bob

Thanks for soliciting our feedback on Lagodima. We had a great visit and were impressed with the cleanliness. We found the house very comfortable. Our only minor suggestion would be to replace the large floor fan in the bedroom with a quieter model. Thanks again and we'll let you know if we return to Nosara for an extended period. Best regards, Mike Derby

Hi, Laurie and Gordy-- Thanks so much for the stay at your beautiful little home. You did a great job of decorating, we could tell a lot of thought went into it. We were most comfortable. Alexa, Anyes, Joe--we were so well taken care of. You're such good people. You took care of us even though you hardly knew us, setting our adventure into motion. We'd love to meet you and thank you properly in person! Take care, Pura Vida Love Gwen, Rick & Rachel

Laurie and Gordy, Your place there, could not have been more perfect!! We had everything we could have possibly needed. I have been going to Nosara for years, but this time it was my girlfriend and myself, solely. We were extremely happy to have our lil nest, no probs., no hassles, perfect. We are hoping to go back down. Once again, thank you very much. David p.s. the safe, alarm and t.v. were great to have.
