We will certainly be returning to this lovely place, which was all it was reported to be. The house was clean and well stocked, the beds were comfortable, and it was very well located in Marfa. There is a full bath with tub and shower, and fluffy new towels in great quantities ready for us. There was coffee in the cabinets and butter in the refrigerator, and all kinds of details to make our stay enjoyable. We enjoyed Padre's, the various food trucks which make Marfa famous, as well as the shops and restaurant at the Paisano Hotel nearby. We will continue to listen to the Marfa Public Radio broadcasts, which are available on the internet. The Marfa Public Library is great for recorded books, computer access, and friendly service. Amanda sent several helpful e-mails and was available for all questions and concerns (though we didn't have any). We would recommend Casa Cielo to anyone visiting Marfa.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Casa Cielo is in a great location - everything is within walking distance. We only took our car out to see El Cosmico and Chinati. The property was much smaller than I expected, but comfortable for me and my husband. I would not suggest this home for couples with smaller children as there was not a lot of room to play. There are wood and tile floors throughout that I think we would be rough on smaller kids. The linens and towels were ample and the tankless water heater provided hot water on demand! The owners were very helpful and prompt when answering our emails. I appreciate their thoroughness and quick turnaround time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This smallish 2BR house is ideal for adults, not suitable for kids. It was spotless and very well maintained and the beds are very comfortable. We stayed during the fall and really didn't need heat or AC so can't comment. Kitchen is adequately equipped. Morning coffee (she has to have her latte) is a block and a half walk to Frama Coffee. Paisano Hotel is 2 blocks, downtown 4. But be cautioned, not by the house, but the trains that run all night (3-4+ times) barely three blocks away. This is going to affect ALL of Marfa not just this house. But if you are a light sleeper or have trouble getting back to sleep you might want to bring some earplugs. I would definitely recommend Casa Cielo. It is clean, cozy and very comfortable and the web photos and descriptions are accurate. The owners were helpful and easy to communicate with.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Casa Cielo is a quaint little house located a short walk from the center of Marfa. The home is clean and quiet and the beds really are comfortable. Amanda and David were wonderful to deal with and very helpful, offering good suggestions on what to do in the area. We arrived on a Monday evening. The town is pretty quiet until Wednesday but we found plenty to do exploring the nearby towns of Fort Davis and Alpine. Marfa is a perfect location to use as a base to discover the Big Bend area. We highly recommend staying here. It's easy to understand why Amanda and David decided to buy a vacation house in Marfa. The town grows on you. People are friendly and there really is a lot to do. The location can't be beat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We had a wonderful stay at casa cielo (two couples). Amanda was very helpful, and the house itself was attractive, clean, and very well equipped with a great binder of information on local attractions. The beds were also really comfortable, and the location was great. Thank you!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

I am extremely glad we found your VRBO listing. Your house is very nice, and the location is perfect. We walked to Padre's, Squeeze Marfa, the Farmer's Market, and all around the west side of town. And everything else in town was readily accessible by bike--Chinati Foundation, the Get and Go, and just about every square inch of the residential areas on all sides of town. As you can probably tell, we loved it…From 02/09/2010:..If we go back, there's no way we would stay anywhere else if yours is available. We even talked about taking our granddaughter with us for a visit some day (she's just 2 now, so it would probably be awhile before she would appreciate it)...Did you find this review helpful? About the owner: We enjoy the type of travel experience where we immerse ourselves in the culture and live like the locals do. We aren't looking for guided tours and touristy restaurants as much as we are looking for local shops to buy wine, meat and cheese, and little "holes-in-the-wall" the typical traveler will not see. We'll struggle through learning a language before we visit a foreign country and then struggle to actually understand and communicate with the local residents when we get there! David is in IT and I write, and manage our home.
Why the Owner Chose Marfa:
We learned not long ago Marfa was about 10 degrees cooler than Dallas in the summer and 4 times less humid. Though it is in Texas desert lands, it is also almost a mile above sea level. We went because David wanted to get to Big Bend which is one of the few places in the lower 48 that has zero light pollution according to the light pollution maps - one can see the glow from the deep space objects, not just the stars in the milky way. Amanda wanted to have civilized amenities. Marfa has cultural assets such as the Chinati foundation and many other galleries, and a surprising variety of ethnic food options. It is very bicycle friendly. We fell in love with Marfa and decided we had to have a vacation home there.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Casa Cielo is walking distance to just about every attraction in Marfa. There is a surprising number of things to do in this tiny community with it's farm stand event every Saturday, several art galleries, Padre's, Food Shark under the pavilion, Cochineal, Maiya's, and more. Several State parks are a day trip away as is Big Bend National Park. If you are lucky, one day you may catch the Marfa lights! The house is fairly private - the back of a church building is on one side and there are just a few neighbors. The community is very small - Adam at Food Shark may remember your name the second day you place your lunch order. (We can't get enough of the Mediterranean fare from the catering truck called Food Shark.)
