The beach house has incredible views of the ocean waves out your front and the lush, tall Koolau mountains out the back. Cool trade winds blowing and palms swaying out the windows make for great sleeping! Early morning wakeup assures a sunrise over the ocean. Quiet, sandy beaches ACROSS THE STREET provide opportunity to really relax and leave the world behind. You can walk to the local coffee shop, best BBQ, and acai bowls about a block away. There is also a post office and 7-11. Across the street about a block either direction are beach parks. About a mile down is Crouching Lion Inn- Stunning views, great food and drinks, pool tables and live music.

When you are ready for more action, pull out of the driveway either direction. Heading left you will come to Laie, home of BYU and boasting best luau on the island at the Polynesian Culture Center-an all day event. Angel's Shaved Ice, a grocery store, movie theater, restaurants and really nice locals. Next is Kahuku-famous for it's shrimp trucks. Worth a stop and the freshest, killer coconut shrimp ever! On to Turtle Bay, all beaches are public. Fun to hang out there, have a MaiTai and watch the sunset. You can play a round of golf on their world class course or have a massage...The incredible beaches of Sunset, Pipeline and Waimea are down the road. A bike/walking path connects them all. Take a break at Ted's Bakery then continue on to Haleiwa-famous surf town. Lots of shopping, eating, and absorbing surf culture.

Leaving the driveway to the right heads south to Kaneohe. Along the way is the Kualoa Ranch, incredibly beautiful, used to film Jurassic Park, some LOST and several more...across the street is Chinaman's Hat. Down the road a short way is a macadamia farm with continual tastings of local nuts and coffees. Keep enjoying the scenery into Kaneohe and town amenities, then on to Chinatown, Honolulu or Waikiki...stay for a busy night life while there..Oahu has so much to offer you can not see it all in one trip!

Back out to peaceful Kaaawa and your own beach house. Grill some fish, a glass of wine and chill with friends and family and just enjoy another gorgeous day in paradise.

I absolutely LOVED this vacation house. Very clean and comfortable. 7 of us stayed here, myself and hubby, our two kids, my brother and my parents. The description on VRBO was exactly what we got. Beautiful views of the mountains from the back of the house and ocean from the front. We watched the sun rise each day. It has a fenced private yard to enjoy and a large back deck to relax on at any time of the day. The outdoor shower was handy to wash all the sand off from being at the beach everyday. We made excellent use of the large beach umbrella, beach chairs, boogie boards, cooler, and toys in the garage. We even left a few pairs of water shoes for others to use while they stay. Loved having the 2 cable televisions and internet in the evenings to wind down from our busy days.I also enjoyed having the windows and doors open for the ocean breeze to cool us off. You will need a vehicle if you stay at this home so you can get around. I reccomend Waimea Beach, and the north shore. Favorite Shrimp truck was the big yellow one Mike's (Monkey Mike) near the begining of the Kamehameha Hwy. Excellent food there. I would stay at this home again and recommend my friends and family to stay in this home. We had a great time.

We had a great time here. The residence is absolutely breathtaking. It was very enjoyable and spacious with a lot of activities to do such as biking, kayaking, ping pong. We really enjoyed ourselves and wished we could do it again, but it seems property is for sale. But it was great place for a staycation. Thank you.

Had a wonderful time this August. The house was very comfortable and the trade winds kept the rooms cool. The house is clean and the kitchen well stocked. We played a few games of ping pong in the evenings...my sisters are very competitive. I would recommend this house to anyone wanting to enjoy the "country" side of Hawaii, and the beautiful views of the ocean and mountains.

Beautiful views of the ocean in the front and mountains in the back. Sleeping arrangements and beds were very comfortable with nice linens. Information provided for eating and activities was very good. We would add Cholo's in Haleiwa...great fish tacos and margaritas. We thoroughly enjoyed the large yard, ping pong, and beach toys.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Red Bamboo. There were plenty of rooms for the 3 couples. The 4th room (pinneapple i think) is only really big enough for the bed and we didn't use it. It's far enough away from the bustle of Honolulu to be peaceful but still good location to check out things on the windward coast and beyond. There is no AC but you get plenty of breeze if you open the windows and the doors. And hurray for ceiling fans in many rooms. I wished some more doors had screens though. We enjoyed amenities like the grill, kayaks, and ping pong table. There's a great back yard area and porches too. We did unfortunately get roaches. They started out in the bathroom (no vent fan) and eventually moved to the kitchen...multiple incidents of some running across the dinner table -eek! Maybe taking out the trash more often would have helped. These are the little infestation buggers. It was great to get the suggestions from the owners. Crouching Lion Inn was a good place, as well as the shrimp trucks. Shopping center not too far is near Valley of the Temples. From red bamboo, we enjoyed spots like Polynesian Culture Center, Hanuma Bay, chinaman's hat, Temple Valley, Aloha Tower & Diamond Head, and the north shore beaches. We did go to the nearby Kaula Ranch, but i'd say it's more of a tourist trap. We would love to visit the Windward Coast area again. Thanks for providing a lovely home - spacious accommodations, breezes, beautiful views, peaceful surroundings. I'd definitely recommend this place, just be prepared for humid climate bugs like roaches and maybe be super clean with trash. This house had plenty of space for 6. It's a good place to experience Hawaii without being surrounded by tourists and parties all the time.

Owner response: Thanks so much for the review and recommendations of places to visit! Sorry about the little critters!! We have a fabulous pest service that comes monthly for both inside and all of yards, I wish you had called me or Sam,and we could have eradicated them immediately for you! but was very kind of you to endure the uninvited guests! And I agree, ewwww! lol!...housekeeper noticed them when you left and they were gone before next guests arrived, so no worries on your next visit over! Sounds like you had memorable trip in spite of unwanted buggers! and again thanks for review and recommendations, that is always helpful! many mahalos! Cassandra

This vacation was a gift to my son and daughter for their graduation; both children and my family LOVED the house, local and gorgeous views from both front and back! What made this vacation outstanding was the prompt and welcoming communication with the owner and property manager. We feel blessed to have found such a wonderful rental; highly reccomend and look forward to our next stay in the near future! Mahalo!

This house is in a pretty decent location of Ka'a'awa. Less than 15 minutes from Lai'e. Less than 15 minutes from Kailua. Can get to Honolulu via H-3 in only about 30 minutes. Easy to get to North Shore beaches and shops. Easy location to get from one side of the island to the other. The view out the front is gorgeous ocean. Reef protected. Sun rises on this side of the house so if you're not an early riser and will be sleeping in the master bedroom, bring a sleeping mask! The three back bedrooms face the mauka side and wow what a gorgeous mountain range that is! The amenities in the house are great. Modern. Kitchen huge and modern appliances. Great living space in the kitchen/front room area. Two modern bathrooms with great upgrades. Full size washer and dryer. HUGE dryer. Wow. Great for doing ALL your laundry in (as opposed to a tiny, stackable unit that only fits 10 items of clothing in it!). Plenty of clean, plush bath towels. Lots of beach towels too. Tons of beach stuff in good condition. We used the snorkels and body boards while there. Wanted to use the kayaks but not enough time! Outdoor shower to wash off sand. Cassandra is very personable and easy to work with. It is obvious she takes pride in this home and is doing everything to upkeep and maintain it. The decor is tasteful. Everything described and pictured is accurate. As for being on Kam Hwy. Well, it's on Kam Hwy. There is a LOT of traffic. Especially in the evenings when the PCC shows end, and on the weekends in general. There's no AC (really no need with the breezes) so you have to sleep with doors and/or windows open. This means you will hear the traffic if you're in the master bedroom. We slept with earplugs and it wasn't a problem for us. We recommend Uncle Bobo's just a couple blocks north for some tasty grinds. Ted's Bakery near Sunset Beach is a MUST. Teddy's Bigger Burger in Kailua is decent. Foodland to shop at in Lai'e or Safeway in Kaneohe. If you're there in the summer months, snorkel Shark's Cove!

This was our first visit to Hawaii and the house could not have been more perfect! There were no hassles whatsoever reserving and "checking in." The location was great for us because we wanted to sightsee the entire island but come "home" and relax every night. It is the perfect balance of views. The mountains in the back allowed for meditation and "strength-building" (even while just sitting there enjoying a coffee or a cocktail). The views of the ocean in the front were calming and equally as impressive. In fact, Thursday morning I sighted a whale while having a cup of coffee on the front deck! The house is very well-maintained and clean. The bed linens are awesome (in fact, I am still trying to find them at home). Our activities included the farmer's market on Sunday (groceries are a tad pricey here), Waikiki (best parking at the Honolulu Zoo), shopping on the North shore, Acai bowls down the street (don't expect to go there for breakfast as they don't open 'til 11) and cocktails our first and last night at the Crouching Lion. Lifetime memories include my daughter learning to surf for the first time, swimming with dolphins, meeting Pearl Harbor survivors, hanging with the locals at Jameson's and the Red Bamboo house. We will definitely stay there if we ever have a chance to get to Hawaii again. In fact the experience was so good we are thinking we may never stay in a hotel again on extended trips. Thank you for helping make this the perfect vacation.

The Red Bamboo helped make our (dad, mom, grandma, 4 teens) first trip to Hawaii wonderful! The house is roomy inside and out..clean, cozy, comfortable. It had everything we needed without being cluttered. Seeing daily sunrises over the ocean from the master bedroom spoiled us. If only we had that view back home! House receives good breezes, air smells very nice. There is a good selection of books, guidebooks, maps, magazines, games, beach and yard toys. Body boards were fun! One medium cooler is available. If not enough, buy one at Walmart or pay $16 for a styrofoam version at 7-11. We used one for food and one for drinks on beach days. Wi-fi and printer were appreciated. We took our GPS which was a lifesaver. The Kaaawa location was perfect for our "from the boonies" family. It didn't take us long to learn our way around and decide which areas we preferred. Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach, Laie, and Haleiwa were better for us. We drove to Honolulu for the swap meet, Diamond Head, and Pearl Harbor. The traffic and crowds were overwhelming for us small-town folks. All over Oahu, traffic is mostly never-ending but with 900,000+ people living in 597 square miles, it's to be expected. If you go to Waimea Bay, get there by 10:00 a.m. before parking spaces are full. Polynesian Cultural Center is awesome! The Samoan guy was hilarious. We learned about traditional island cultures and enjoyed the various villages. Our tickets included the island buffet...food wasn't great but Ha: Breath of Life is amazing. Pearl City has a Walmart and Sam's which are less crowded, better stocked with lower prices, and better parking than Honolulu's. Costco in Honolulu was nuts. We also shopped at Foodland in Laie, fifteen minutes from the house. Get their discount "card", requires just a phone number and saves $$. Mostly, we ate at the house but everyone loved their food from Ted's Bakery in Sunset Beach and shave ice from Matsumoto's in Haleiwa. Our meal from L & L in Laie was tasty, plentiful and cheap. There are Portugese Man O' War on eastern beaches. One son was stung in shallow water at Kualoa Beach. He had a large welt with much pain but it was gone in two days. Owner Cassie does all she can to make your trip a success. Property Manager Sam is helpful and friendly as were most locals. The only rude people were other tourists. Red Bamboo is perfect for busy days as well as lazy beach days. We hated to leave, can't wait to return! Mahalo Cassie!

We had a great stay at the Red Bamboo house; thank you Cassandra for the wonderful stay. We came to Hawaii for the first time with our children and brought my parents, we all stayed comfortably. The beds were all comfy, rooms were full of character and clean. The location was awesome, beautiful beach right in front of home, either side. And everything you need is a stones throw away. As others have mentioned the sunrises were my favorite part of each day. Great amenities, like coffee grinder (coffee!), hair dryer, beach toys, boogie boards, were all utilized and appreciated. We are coming back next year and can hardly wait. Thanks again for a lifetime of memories. Our family loved this home!

              Why the Owner Chose Kaaawa:
The towering, green, Koolau Mountains on one side and the waves of the ocean on the other are a breathtaking view that brought us to Kaaawa again and again. The trade winds blowing cool and misty...together it is a most incredible setting that is old Hawaii at it's best...
