Beautiful Place to Relax After Skiing!

We had a group of 8 people (7 adults and one child) stay at Carol's Red House and we had an amazing time. We had a bit of hard time finding the house as we arrived at 10pm and there was no light on the door number or driveway. Once we entered the house, we knew that this was to place to just relax. The house was organized and clean. The fireplace was a treat and Carol had stacked up a ton of wood so we didn't have to go buy any. The view from the hot hub was one of a kind -- direct view of the lake. There's nothing like soaking in the hot tub after a tiring day of skiing and watch the sun goes down. we played board games, watched tv, and made breakfast (enough plates, cups, and utensils for everyone). Everyone emailed me to thank me for a booking such a great place after the trip. Thanks, Carol!

My wife and I rented this house over Thanksgiving and couldn't of been happier. Carol was absolutely amazing to work with when securing the house and gives you a great introductory email before you arrive describing how everything works. We cooked our Turkey dinner at the house and all the required cooking items were there for our use. The location is close to restaurants, casinos and skiing with the lake right across the street. The view from the patio in the morning for sunrise and sunset is gorgeous. My wife and I sat on the dock on a couple of occasions with a glass of wine and just relaxed. The master bedroom is right on the first floor with a nice den right off it. Both bathrooms are downstairs which could be a pain if you have the upstairs rooms. Overall a great experience and great house.

We had an amazing time at this beautiful cabin! You wake up and the lake is right across the street! The view is amazing! The cabin is cozy yet spacious! We had plenty of room for our two families. The kitchen is very well stocked. One of the best VRBO rentals I have stayed at.

My first look from outside the house, i felt it would be a great place to stay in. After I entered in, I was not disappointed in any way. Everything was great with all facilities. Nice place to stay for a group of 8-10 people. Watch out for the stairs though, just be careful while getting down on stairs.

We enjoyed a lovely stay at the Red House by the Lake! Everything wa represented very well in the description of the rental. It was clean, comfortable and close to several restarants. It was nice to go and sit at the dock and watch the sunset! We ate dinner at Spindleshanks and the food was excellent! I would definitely recommend this rental to friends and family!

Red House By the Lake

My family deceided to start an annual get together. For our first reunion we selected Red House By the Lake. We couldn't of asked for a nicer property to rent or a better owner to deal with. The house is convienent to the casinos and restuarants of north shore Tahoe. The lake with it's own dock is directly across the street. We brought kayaks and had a ball. The whole process of contacting the owners, deposits and payments was seamless. I recommend Red House By the Lake . This house in my opinion is real value for the money spent. If you decide to rent I know you'll enjoy as much as we did.

My husband and I (and our dog) had a great time at the house. We were looking for a relaxing time on the lake and we got just that. It was so convenient to have the pier right across the street. The house had everything we were looking for during our time away- hot tub, grill and deck! Thank you!

A Great Getaway to North Tahoe

The house was very nice, loved how many bedrooms & bathrooms it had. The view from the front room and dinning area was beautiful! The house was very clean outside and inside. The back was very woodsy with a great fire pit and picnic table. The only bad thing is that the street is very busy so you have to watch out when crossing to check out the pier and the water. We usually spend this weekend in Capitola. Well even though it wasn’t Capitola, it was relaxing and roomy and easy to find. We all had a great time! THANK YOU!!

We spent labor day weekend at Kingswood Mountain Home with a group of 5 couples and we had a great time. The house is very spacious, well equipped and very well maintained. The kitchen and the big dining table is great if you like to cook and have group meals. It comfortably accommodated all 10 of us. The house comfortably sleeps 10 but I would say it is a perfect place for 4 couples. We also really enjoyed the lounge area on the front terrace in the morning. It's a great place to sit and sip your morning coffee. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful and it was nice to sit there while the occasional passerby would wave and say good morning. The game room is spacious and we had a lot of fun playing pool, air hockey and darts. The location is great for both summer and winter as it is only a short drive to both Kings Beach and Northstar. The booking process was very smooth and Carol is very responsive, answering all our questions very quickly. The check-in process is also very easy. Overall we had an awesome time staying there and we would definitely stay there again.

We were 2 families, totalling 8 adults and 1 dog. The house was perfect for us. Nice location. Beautiful view, especially from the pier. The traffic noise really didn't bother me since we have a similar level of traffic noise at home and there were always breaks in it, so it was never a problem crossing the street. My son is handicapped and required assistance if he wanted to cross the street, but he didn't mind. The kitchen is a little over-equipped with pots, pans and baking sheets. It was difficult to access some things and hard to put things back again. Our dog gives this place 2 paws up!

We loved this rustic cabin across from the Lake. We all felt right at home. The beds were super comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, plenty bath and bed linens, and the hot tub with views of the Lake was amazing. A great place if your traveling with kids. Marilyn, the owner, was responsive in answering questions before and during our stay. We look forward to returning again.

We loved our stay at the Red House! Great views from the house and hot tub and close to skiing. We had two families and it fit us perfectly and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The proprerty managers went out of their way to be available if needed. I hope to return in the summer!

The red house is very nice. Wonderful fireplace, comfortable beds, nice kitchen and a great space to hang out, eat, cook, play, games, and read. The couch is especially nice. It would have been nice if they had kindling for the fire. They have plenty of wood but no kindling. we ended up getting a duraflame. The hot tub was nice. The view of the lake absolutely lovely. I wish I had known that the house is not actually on the lake, though. It has a dock across the street. Overall, very happy with our stay, it was a great house with a lovely view that was very comfortable.

This is our second stay at the red house. We really enjoy its perfect location. Carol, the owner, is very easy to work with and responds quickly to questions or concerns. The house is comfortable and well thought out. The hot tub is excellent. We will be back again.

We stayed at The Red House by the Lake with family members. There were eight of us total, 5 adults and 3 children. It was a very comfortable home with plenty of room. The views of the mountains and Lake Tahoe were outstanding. We loved using the dock. The hot tub was very nice and enjoyable for all. Overall we really enjoyed our relaxing stay. The owners were very easy to work with and we look forward to working with them again in the near future.

Cute Cabin by the Lake

I just stayed at the Red Cabin by the Lake. The Location is great, there is a Safeway down the street that you can pick up everything you need. The house is cute and there was room for everyone to sleep. The beds were very comfy with great comforters on them. The Backyard is great has picnic tables and a hammock. I especially liked the front deck which I sat in the morning and had coffee. The kitchen was nice and well equipped we cooked most of our meals there. The boys would wake up in the morning and cross Lake Blvd and jumped into the lake. The dock was nice to go out and sit and relax. The best feature that our group liked was the hot tub situated right outside the Master Bedroom on the deck in front of the house. The only downside of this cabin is that it is right on Lake Blvd, which was very noisy the weekend we were there. So if you are looking for some place that is very quiet this would not be it. We had a great time and would definitely go back again. We had to contact Carol and she was great about answering our questions.

Cozy Red House with Amazing View of The Lake!!!

This review has been a long time coming. Some friends and I, five adults, two chihuahuas, and one infant, stayed over a long weekend in February. We were happily surprised at how close we were to The Lake. The view the next morning was spectacular! Some of us stayed and enjoyed the coziness of the house, while others when skiing/snowboarding at nearby Northstar. The beginning of 2011 was hit with a ton of snow, so when we took a stroll around, we were amazed to see how high some of the snow had piled. It was beautiful! We loved having a hot tub at the house. Unfortunately, the wood had gotten soaked from all the heavy snow, we were unable to enjoy a fire. We cooked and dined at the house, most of everything we needed was there. Carol was very accommodating when we asked if we could check out a bit later, and she made the whole experience of booking very easy. I have recommended this house to friends and family and I would love to go back. I would say though that there were some areas of the house that was dusty. Otherwise, a great place to stay, and so so close to Northstar.

We love this red cabin for our yearly snow trip. Our friends and my family enjoyed staying in this very cozy cabin. It's a nice home, dog friendly and clean. It is a safe environment for little ones, too. We can't wait to stay there again and again.

We stayed here with friends the week after New Year's. It was very comfortable for 2 families with children and dogs. The house was comfortable and had plenty of room to spread out. Carol was easy to work with and was very quick to get back to me when I had questions. I would stay here again for sure in the future.

The Red House with the View of Lake Tahoe

We had a great time staying week of New Year's. This is an older style California dwelling with deep dark wood and a comfortable feeling. It had all modern conveniences; it didn't have granite kitchen countertops, which was fine with me. There was plenty of wood for fireplace and house was quite warm. The hot water tank was so large that we never ran out of it for showers. It was within 20 minutes drive of 4 good to great ski resorts, which is what I wanted. It had exactly what my wife wanted -- a view of the lake while she sat talking in the living room with our friends. The lake views were spectacular as they changed often, depending on the weather. The photo of the jacuzzi doesn't do it justice because it's modern and you can sit in it while enjoying the view of the lake. The main road goes between the house and the shore so there is some traffic. Overall, I didn't much notice passing cars. On plus side, this means we're close to main road that is quickly plowed and thus didn't get stuck in snow. (It snowed 2 feet one night). The area has electricity lines on poles that would be buried in more modern housing. Management kept to their word and helped us solved minor problems. Even though I'd love ski-in and ski-out place, it was far more pleasant to be at side of Lake Tahoe then at resort like Squaw or Northstar, where views are far less then advertised. The pier looks very appealing for summertime.I highly recommend Red House. Peter J. Brennan

When I read that it was "by the lake" I had no idea it was literally right on the water! We woke up to beautiful views of Lake Tahoe every morning. The house is very nice and cozy. I would love to return!

My family stayed at the Red House for a week beginning Oct.1. We had so much fun. Our views were beautiful. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch together. With a dog and toddler running back and forth and having fun, us adults could just sit there and enjoy them. First two days the weather was warm. The third morning we awoke to snow. It was just MAGICAL!! The house was well stocked with whatever you need to cook and was very comfortable. Sitting in the living room with a roaring fire and looking out the windows at the falling snow is ingrained in all of our memories and we bring it up often. We were only a 45 min beautiful drive away to South Tahoe and we made the trip twice. We definitely will be returning.

If you are looking to stay in a comfortable, clean, well-equipped house on the lake, this is it. I stayed at the Red House with a group of friends and we were very happy with the location (near Safeway, Nevada casinos, and hiking trails) and we would definitely recommend this house to our friends and family. The hot tub, grill, and ample space provided us with the ultimate vacation in Tahoe. Excellent!!!

We had the most relaxing time in the Red House! It is charming, super clean and comfortable. The house has an old-fashioned homey ambience, but comes equipped with every modern convenience and amenity. Really felt like a cozy stay at the perfect grandparents' house! We'll certainly return!
