Nestled in the quaint town of Mariposa we offer our cottage for 3 night minimum. Doe’s Cottage has 2 bedrooms each with a queen bed. One bathroom with a tub shower, living room with a fireplace and kitchen. Sleeps one to four guests.
Always a comfy home to return to after your days adventures in Yosemite, the Gold Rush Country or Central Valley. Just kicking around Mariposa is a great treat too. It is located at the base of the Mother Lode and is loaded with history.
The Doe's Cottage is just a block away from Historic down town Mariposa and walking distance to the bus stop for Yosemite or the Central valley. Mariposa has a home town atmosphere with a wonderful museum, fairgrounds with a mineral museum, some great new restaurants and no stoplights!.
Visiting Yosemite
From Doe's Cottage you have a choice of three entrance gates to enter Yosemite National Park. The fastest and most direct way to Yosemite is Hwy 140 along the Merced River. It is a half hour to the Yosemite Arch Rock Entrance and then a half hour into Yosemite Valley. Another popular route is through the pretty country foothills on Hwy 49 South through Oakhurst to Hwy 41 North where you enter the pines on your way to the South Gate Park entrance at Wawona. At this entrance is the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.
The third option, Hwy 49 North will take you through some of the old wild west gold rush towns of Coulterville and then to Hwy 120 through Groveland and to the park's Big Oak Flat west gate. On any of these routes you see plenty of California's rich history. Yosemite speaks for it's self but after you book we can suggest our favorite spots. If it's the gold country your after, Hwy 49 North to Jamestown and Columbia are just and hour away. If you are visiting the new Merced UC college you are about 40 minutes from campus.

This cottage is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. It is clean and comfortable and is filled with local charm. A quiet setting yet very close to downtwon Mariposa. The cottage has a sunny corner in the front room where you can read your favorite newspaper or book. We enjoyed walking to downtown, shopping and dining and walking back to the cozy cottage. The property has a nice lawn and several blossoming plants. The owner is very friendly and has great ideas on local places to see and where to visit in Yosemite. Yosemite is an easy 45 minute drive away. In Mariposa, we enjoyed dining at Castillo's Mexican Restaurant as well as the Sugar Pine Cafe. Merchants were friendly and we enjoyed winetasting at Casto Oaks Winetasting Room and Gallery, Mariposa. We would recommend Doe's Cottage to our friends and we plan to visit again and again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I have been here twice as a center for visiting Yosemite and area. It is equidistant from the south and west park entrances. Though the cottage is not on the park's border, the drives to Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove are beautiful in themselves. The cottage is comfy and pleasant. It is largely shaded and fairly cool indoors in the hotter summer weather. The owner is very nice and keeps the property very neat and clean. The photos are totally representative of the house. We would recommend this cottage to others, and have done so.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much for staying at Doe's Cottage. It is important to us that our guests have a clean and comfortable stay. We are always delighted when our guests enjoy the cottage as well as Yosemite Park.
