This home is truly on top of Beech Mountain! During Ski seaason you must have 4 wheel drive to access the home. It sits directly beside the Oz Run and the snow they make piles up in the yard as well. There is always a minimum of 2 to 3 feet of snow around the home during ski season. During the summer the temprature is rarely above 70 and you are surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the fall the foilage is breathtaking and in the winter you can ski directly onto the slopes!!! Our home is beside the entrance to the old Land of Oz park at the very top of the mountain. Out home sets at the top of the mountian where all the lifts come together.
The home has three large bedrooms each with beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The large deck overlooks the slopes and you can walk to the slopes ski down one of the ten slopes and ride the lifts back to your home. The home features a large stone fireplace, living room with vaulted ceilings, and all new furnishings.
After a fun filled day of Hiking, site seeing or sking, imagine seating on the deck on a quiet evening watching the sun set over the Tennessee mountains as deer play in the yard. The air is crisp and clear and at our elevation we have no insects year round. Enjoy the beauty of the mountains year round at our home. The home has large flat yard so the children can play safely.
At an elevation of over 5600 feet you will feel like you are on top of the world. Awesome views over the smoky mountains in to Tennessee. You can watch the sunrise and the beautiful sunsets over the mountains from the deck, living room and dining room.

Christmas and New Years require 7 night min stay Rate is $3000 + tax.

Poor communication, not very helpful, no basic supplies, some minor maintenance issues

We traveled from Florida with 4 children and because of a big snow storm we were not able to get to the house and had to get 2 hotel rooms the first night. The next day we made it to the house but couldn't get to the front door or in the driveway. We arranged and paid for a snow plow and were told that we would be reimbursed for this, but it hasn't happened yet and repeated attempts to communicate w/ the owners have been ignored. We also asked for some help with the cost of the hotel rooms and that has flat out been refused. It should be a given that when you rent a place you should be able to gain access to it. The storm wasn't her fault nor was it ours, but we feel after paying so much to stay there (holiday rates and all), some help and understanding would have been the fair and right thing to do. Once we made it in the house we found no paper towels, napkins, tissues, barely any TP, no dish soap, sponge, or even trash bags (all necessities when you have 4 kids!). If no paper products were included in the cost of the rental it should have been stated. We had to make a special trip down the mountain just to get these items. The fireplace quit working 1/2 way through our trip and we called asking for help but once again were ignored. These are all fairly minor issues but add up to a rather frustrating trip. There are certain expectations you have when you rent a place and we were disapointed.
Owner response:I am sorry that this renter was not happy with his stay. The snow storm he is talking about caused emergency conditions on the mountain. The driveway had been cleared on Saturday and he arrived on Sunday. Over 18 inches of snow had from Saturday night until his arrival at aournd 7:00 on Sunday night. He did make it to the house and could have walked less than 60 feet to the front door and stayed in the home. I did speak with him several times the first two days of his stay. I told him he could walk to the house and stay there that it was ready. Our people would have cleared the drive on Monday, the next day but he had someone do it first. I did tell him that I would pay the $60.00 he paid for that and because I would not pay the hotel bill he said to forget it all and never sent me the bill. If he had contacted the house keeper and told her he did not have a start of the items he mentions she would have provided them to him. It was an oversite on her part that they were not there. As you can see from the photos of the house it gets a great deal of snow and that is what most people want. I can not however refund money if my home is ready and available and someone choices do not want to stay in the home. I have been a member of VRBO for over 6 years and have never had a problem before this one. I do try my best to see that your stay is enjoyable and that you will want to return.
