Our family all agreed that this years stay at Villa Magnifica in San Diego was the best vacation that we have taken as a family yet (and this is our 12th annual trip). The entire week could not have been better for our family. I cannot imagine a more wonderful setting to get the 3 generations of our family together. If there is a more inviting home to comfortably accommodate our group of 12 adults and 14 kids--I have not found it . It was definitely worth the substantial full price rental rate that we paid to reserve the home a year in advance. Since my wife and I are retired I am definitely going to take my wife back there on the spur of the moment getaway to enjoy the house at the great last minute booking rates they told me are offered when I asked. Book a year ahead if you want the week of your choice as I asked them about coming back for a week in the Summer and they said they are already almost all booked up for July and August. While we are work free, a few of the kids took a winter working vacation so along with the free WIFI at the house (which must have a lot of bandwidth since we used our 6 laptops all at the same time), there is also nationwide Free Long Distance ,which was really great because we found that certain cell carriers have spotty reception at the beach and dropped calls. With the free long distance we could call anywhere in the U.S. for free and have people call us without a problem. Plenty of room to spread out and those that needed to work could, with an ocean view of course. Oh and lots of parking right in front of the house with no restrictions.

Our family was really hoping to get sone summer in winter for our San Diego trip and we were thrilled with Villa Magnifica and all it had to offer us. The heated pool is awesome during the dead of winter--you just need to let them know if you want the pool heated using the solar system thats up on the roof of if you want the pool even hotter they will crank up the gas heater to get it to the temperature that is ideal for your family. We were fine with with a 78 degree pool but the owners told us that for a nominal fee to cover the natural gas used they could get the pool as warm as 85 degrees for us--but for our family having a pool in the high-70's in the dead of winter was amazing. We had the pool heating from 10 am to 4 pm . Since they told us that heat goes to either the pool or the Jacuzzi the owner lets you pick your own hours that you want for the Jacuzzi and then the pool is heated the rest of the time. The poolside Jacuzzi spa was big enough for 6 to 8 of us to enjoy at the same time and the owner programmed the Jacuzzi spa to the exact hours that we wanted--so most days we asked for the Jacuzzi spa to be set for 4 pm to 8 pm. A few days we added morning sessions from 10 am to 2 pm for the kids but we were mindful that when the big pool heater is heating the Jacuzzi then the swimming pool is not being heated. A real nice bonus that I did not find at any of the other homes I was considering renting was the 4 bikes that are at Villa Magnifica for the guests to use. We used them every day of our stay and even rode to Sea World one day on them. When my son ran over a piece of glass and had a flat tire we just called the owner and he brought us a replacement bike to replace the one my son flattened the tire on. While the management was always close if we needed them and their response time was amazing, we were never bothered and had complete privacy. A super vacation was had by all. I

Weather, Weather, Weather--The three most important things when looking at vacation destinations and San Diego's weather cannot be beat. The week we were there in January the daytime temps were 75 to 80 everyday. Can you say "Paradise". And to enjoy that Paradise in a home like Villa Magnifica was incredible. From our arrival we were met in person at the house and given an orientation tour and all our questions about restaurants and grocery stores and things to do were answered by Sonia who is just wonderful. We already had plans to go to Sea World and the Zoo which are so close and we found that the Gas Lamp District with it's wonderful restaurants were just a cab ride away (so we could enjoy a good bottle of wine ) for a superb dinner ! When at the home we were thrilled to see Sunset in winter right off of the big front deck and the beautiful stone pool deck was the perfect place to enjoy those 80 degree January days in San Diego. Relaxing in brand new chaise loungers watching the kids play in the pool while it was below zero at home made me glad we had come to San Diego to stay at Villa Magnifica. Don't hesitate to bring your family or group here, we are thrilled with our choice.

We were first time house renters so we were delighted when we, all 20 of us (ages 5-82), arrived at the house. 19 of us flew in from Colorado and Alaska and we loved the location. The weather, which was running about 80 degrees, was great! The (10-15 minutes by car) proximity to Sea World, the fabulous zoo, Ocean Beach, Balboa Park, and Mission Beach worked out great for our adventures! We loved watching the surfers, the sunsets, and hiking around the "Sunset Cliffs" area! Many of us rented cars and found lots of great parking on the street out front of the house. We were quite disappointed that the pool was ice cold. After making a request for it to be heated, it was finally warm enough to use by the 4th day and last day we were there. So we took turns in the hot tub which was automatically heated only from 4-8pm. Patio furniture around the pool needs to be replaced. We had plenty of room in the house which was great. Beds were very comfortable. Plenty of towels and dishes. Nice feature was the washer/dryers located near the pool! Kitchen stove had two burners that didn't work because the knobs were broken. We had to clean the BBQ before using, but it did work well. We did all of our family breakfasts and dinners at the house and managed well enough. Make sure you wash the dishes before using them - I think proximity to ocean/fog encourages bugs?? We were hoping to be able to use the bicycles, but all six were rusted and had flat tires which could not be fixed. We requested a fix for this and received a pump and two more bikes, one of which was slightly usable once we blew up the tires on that one. We didn't see any boogy boards. We ended up renting 7 bikes and some surfboards at Mission Beach, rode the 3 mile boardwalk there and played at the beach - was delightful! The internet access was great as we had a lot of 20 somethings that brought their laptops, etc. There was no phone reception in the house, so had to walk across the street to use cell phones. Long beautiful stone stairway up to the front of the house made for great photo background when taking the group photos. The front deck was a great place to just hang out around a big table. Overall, renting the house was much better than renting a bunch of hotel rooms as we had great opportunities to gather, visit, eat together. (We were charged MUCH more than $395/night as it says above...) Enjoy it if you rent this home, but be prepared for a few weird things.

My family recently stayed at Villa Magnifica in December. The home is warm and inviting and the ocean views are amazing! The amenities are wonderful including the big screen TVs in every bedroom. The kitchen is just off the dining room and living room, so you are always a part of the action. The pool, jacuzzi and BarB Q out the sliding glass kitchen door. If you like being on top of a hillside overlooking magnificent ocean views, this is the house for you. We can't wait to go back again!

Brought my family to this fabulous home and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and house. It was immaculately clean and fully stocked with everything we needed for the week. Fresh towels were placed in each bathroom and the beds were extremely comfortable. We had enough space for 7 adults, one very active teenager and to have together time and privacy if we wanted to. The kitchen is adorably charming and high functioning. We cooked meals together everyday, making crepes, pancakes, omelets and more. There was plenty of room for all of us to make our own pizzas one night and lots of gas for the BBQ outside on the pool deck. The location is perfect. The town of OB, Ocean Beach and the proximity to Gas Lamp District in San Diego with restaurants, shops and beach and of course the zoo is terrific and the access to the freeway is just minutes away Oh and the Farmers Market on Wednesdays in OB is superb, everything for a gourmet meal and flowers so cheap we filled the house with them. A+++ I

Our first time renting a vacation home, we were kinda worried about renting a house via internet but were thrilled when we arrived at the neighbourhood and the house . Very spacious with 6 BR .4 bathroom perfect for a big family. The house was very clean and had everything we needed from the kitchen to the bedrooms. Kids used the pool after days at the parks and the internet really came in handy to send pictures to family back home and catching up with our emails and family. We loved the big screen tvs everywhere and full choice on the cable. Sunsets were the best right on the front deck.

Three couples from the South decided to vacation in San Diego at the ocean together. This house provided each couple with plenty of private, personal and shared space - indoor and outdoor. The house is built on a hillside with stunning views looking right at the Pacific Ocean and easy access to the sidewalk. The photos and video we saw are accurate. But photos cannot communicate the open, airy space in the home which is also beautifully appointed and maintained. The location was perfect. The neighborhood is quiet, at the end of each busy day we enjoyed a wonderful peace. The property manager was fast to respond and showed he really cared about us and how we enjoyed our visit. I encourage anyone planning to spend time in the San Diego area to consider this house. It is a wonderful experience all to itself.

We looked hard to find a suitable place and location for our mother's birthday get together in San Diego. We didn't have an extended amount of time so we wanted to be at the ocean and near the airport as several relatives were flying in. After seeing the photos and videos of Villa Magnifica it seemed just right. When we arrived, it's hard to explain, but something about this home made everyone feel instantly relaxed! Perhaps it's the beautiful view, the warm accommodations or just the feeling of complete relaxation! Whatever it was, everything went extremely well and we will be sure to recommend to everyone we know who's looking for a similar experience!

We stayed in this beautiful house for a few days of our USA trip when we were in San Diego. We needed to be downtown, and were thrilled we could stay at the ocean and be close to our meeting. This was the perfect place for our group. It is beautifully furnished, generously equipped and extremely comfortable. There are wonderful spaces for the people to sit together and eat or work, as well as places to go for some quiet time. The view is so nice right on the ocean so big sunsets. We liked the big stone jacuzzi after meetings and found all accommodations including lots of closets full of towels to be great. There were very big LCD TVs and there was excellent wifi for us too. Thank you for being good hosts.

This home could not have been any more beautiful or appropriate for a gathering of eight friends to get together for our annual reunion. The home was very clean and well maintained, the furnishings were lovely and comfortable. We were able to use the outdoor pool area seating for cookout and a great meal after using the pool and jacuzzi. Sunset was spectacular and the table on the front deck staring right at the ocean was perfect. We spent most of our time at the house and took advantage of all the amenities. Would book again.

We rented this property for a week. It was touted as a magnificent beachfront property with luxurious furnishing including 800 count thread sheets. We were met at the door with a foul smell. As we proceed into the home we found carpet which is stained. The furniture was stained and chips note on ALL pieces. The walls have paint falling off with black marks throughout and are badly in need of paint. The metal vents are rusted. The towels are snagged and have bleach stains. The mirrors are greyed. The outdoor furniture is corroded and unstable. We were unable to use many pieces. The hammock was covered with mold and unusable. We had our family join us and all were extremely disappointed in the accommodations. I believe the advertising is very misleading and someone needs to monitor as we were mislead. I would never recommend this property to anyone. If anyone would like to follow up with this article we did take pictures which show the disrepair and would be happy to substantiate our claims. I would not believe we can recoup any of our money but if we can keep others from making the same mistake we would feel better. It was run down and needs much care. It as beautiful views of the ocean and wonderful sunsets. It is close to attractions.

We stayed at the Villa Magnifica recently and had an absolutely amazing time. The house was the perfect size for our group of 10 and the huge den and living rooms and open layout provided tons of space for lounging, working and eating. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the three inside plus one poolside bathroom spaces were perfect for accommodating 10 women, which is definitely saying something. There were so many delicious restaurants / bars / and grocery stores within easy distance and we were able to go watch a concert too. Views are absolutely as breathtaking as described and the kitchen comes fully equipped, even a spice rack , and the owner made sure our request for an expresso maker was taken care of. Owner was easy to contact leading up to the rental and check in / check out was a breeze. We got a meet and greet service in which everything was explained and any questions we had were answered right then and there. So much better than the “hunt and peck” method some vacation rentals put you through. Throughout our stay all of us commented that this house was such a better choice than a hotel and we would absolutely rent this property again if we returned to San Diego. The neighborhood is quiet and we didn’t hear all the noise and ruckus as in other areas like Mission Beach. Overall it was a great experience and I'd encourage anyone looking to visit San Diego to seriously consider this house.

If you ever visit San Diego with a group of family or friends, I would recommend, without reservation, renting this property. The house is VERY roomy and is a beautiful three minute walk along Sunset Cliffs with the whitewater surf below you to the Nature Park, which we did each evening at sunset. The house has something for everyone: young kids, teens and adults. Morning swims and evening hot tub soak. Additionally, the beds are very comfortable and each room has huge flat screen TV. Having looked for a rental house for several years for my group, I was please to come across this property. It is very well priced; especially considering its quality and location. Finally, the owners are very nice and easy to work with!

When thinking where to go for a vacation with the family we wanted someplace where we could have that big ocean view we all love plus be all together and near attractions for the kids. This place fit the bill exactly. A great big house looking right at the ocean and close to Sea World , the San Diego Zoo and Lego Land for starters. We are beach casual people and the little beach town of OB was perfect for us to stroll around in and get out on the sand. The house itself was clean, everything worked and had everything we needed, lots of towels, big kitchen , BBQ poolside , lots of TVs , lots of different gathering areas and great internet access. We had some local friends over for dinner and showed off our great digs and they were suitably impressed. Thanks for a great stay.

What a lovely home! The only negative was we only stayed a short time.. Could have stayed a month!! Location is impossible to beat, oceanfront and 10 minutes from the airport and the Gaslight district. Amazing just out from the front door of this home you are on Sunset Cliffs panoramic path and looking out at the waves crashing and smelling that breezy salt air. We used the provided bikes/bought a couple skateboards and spent most of our time enjoying the beach town of OB and relaxing on the sea view deck and at our private pool and jacuzzi.. We visited San Diego Zoo which was terrific and only a short drive from the house and enjoyed a few places to eat in OB and Little Italy. Wifi worked like a dream and there was tons of space so would easily accommodate more than one family.. All in all a lovely place to visit, great house to stay in a perfect location. Would recommend to friends and family.

The house is beautiful and well maintained and looked just like in the pictures. Exactly what I expect from an upscale oceanfront home. Expansive nice view to watch sunset at night, very clean, comfortable beds and plenty of rooms for our brood. We had a great time and relaxing few days. I recommend this house to everyone who is looking to stay in San Diego with a large family. We were so close to Sea World we did two round trips in 1 car in less than 30 minutes.

We really enjoyed our stay at your place. It worked out perfectly for 8 of us who work together to stay at the house for a week while attending an event in the area. The internet was great and there were lots of places within the house to set up and work without interfering with others. The outside and deck were super for after work get togethers for drinks and some down time in front of the great blue sea. The whole house was extremely clean and the kitchen was big enough for several of us to do our own thing in. The Jacuzzi and pool made it all the best. Easy access to downtown San Diego. No hotel needed for us. Thank you and we will definitely be renting it again.

This is an amazing property. Once we got to the house, we never left! The house has everything you could wish for (full kitchen, large backyard area with great pool with lagoon walk in and jacuzz attached. comfortable rooms, lots of bathrooms, lots of hanging out areas). We had a large group in the house and were very comfortable. Having a big washer dryer room off the pool and cabana was great, easy to drop off the wet towels. Oh and tons of towels in the house. It is right above the ocean (front) and has amazing views ... The host was very nice and she answered all of our questions after showing us the place. No problems at all, recommend.

We try to come to San Diego every summer and always look for something at the beach on the ocean. so we know the area well. This year was by far one of our best stays! Great house, super cleaned up, great location and great deck to kick back on. The kids loved it here and we truly felt at "home." They rode the bikes and took the boogey boards down to the beach. Excellent communication and we appreciated the nice walk through and helpful tips on arrival. Really liked the digital door lock, no keys for the kids to lose!

This house is very spacious. It is perfect for a larger group of people. There are two different levels and a lot of space to hang out. The kitchen is big and open and looks right out on the pool and Jacuzzi. The pool was fantastic and having a cabana and bathroom for changing out there was really cool. The place is well kept and very clean. The Sunset Cliffs and Pacific Ocean are out the front and a wonderful place to walk and watch the sunset and surfers. We had everything we needed for a great R and R. Try a hamburger at Hodads in OB.

Stayed there June 18 to June 25, 2011. This was a run down, FILTHY, rusty old house that needs major repairs. Bugs were in showers and in beds. NONE of the on-line marketing accurately described the awful condition. We tried immediately to find other housing but was unable to accommodate our family of 14. Horrendous house!!!!! Photos not accurate. Would not recommend this property to anyone.

We rented this house over the holidays for a multigenerational family reunion and it was perfect for our needs. The location across from the water is just spectacular, from the first view of the pelicans flying by in formation in the morning to the sound of crashing waves at night. The house is sprawling and accomodates lots of people: couples, singles, kids. Families with babies or young kids would be amazed at the toys, equipment, high chairs, etc. The hot tub is heated automatically from 4-8, a bit on the early side for our teens and young adults, but nice for keeping the neighborhood quiet. The house itself is showing its age a bit: small amounts of water damage (probably normal for the beach location), less than luxurious fixtures, an old dishwasher. However, the house was very clean and there were plenty of dishes and serving pieces, a well-supplied spice rack, comfy chairs and sofas, and a roomy circular dining table for family dinners. There were cupboards full of dozens of extra towels and linens. When we needed anything, Joseph was there with a fix in record time, always less than 30 minutes. He was even kind enough to allow us to send gifts ahead to his home, and he hand-delivered them to us at the house. It's a fabulous house, and we would recommend it highly.

I rented Villa Magnifica with a group of international colleagues to accommodate us during a conference. The house was perfect for our large group. The rooms were spacious and the house was very well-equipped, especially the kitchen! The hot tub also was great for relaxing in the cool of the San Diego evening. We were also pleased that Villa Magnifica was centrally located, only 15 minutes from downtown, 10 minutes from Seaworld and a short walk away from Ocean Beach for dining and entertainment. The clifftop views were also amazing. The balcony area was large and comfortable and great for watching some perfect sunsets! Overall I was very pleased with the quality and service provided and certainly will be back in the future. Thanks for such a great stay!

My family continually complimented me on the great choice I had made in selecting Villa Magnifica. I had considered many other rentals before deciding on this one but quite frankly, I did not anticipate that we would be so comfortable in the home that we hardly wanted to leave it. It is the perfect home to choose to relax and vacation. Because I like to prepare ahead, I took information about the area, and locations of the nearest supermarkets, and there are lots close including Trader Joe’s. The promised chef’s kitchen did not disappoint. We are not big freeway drivers and were thrilled that we could enjoy so much of San Diego from Villa Magnifica without having to get on one. Strongly recommend!!

Working with you prior to arriving was a pleasure All of my requests and questions prior to arrival were handled so graciously. The check –in process was very informative and helpful. We really felt the extra mile was gone to respond to all our questions and needs. It was so helpful. A repair need was taken care of right away, as soon as we called. So many nice touches. We will definitely recommend you and this home to friends planning trips to San Diego. Overall, the experience of Villa Magnifica matched our expectations. We had a great time with our extended family all joining us for a vacation in San Diego. Pros: 1. The pool and hot tub were wonderful. Our children had a great time under the warm sun. Fence around the pool was awesome for small children. 2. The general living areas were spacious and comfortable. 3. The kitchen was large enough to create a "large" meal for the entire family. 4. The front patio place to enjoy the sunset. 5. The back patio was a great place to relax next to the pool. 6. There were ample bedrooms and space for sleeping and private space. Cons: 1. The dishwasher wasn't effective at doing dishes. Family resorted to cleaning dishes by hand. 2. The hot tub was put on a timer such that the guests couldn't control when they wanted to enjoy the hot tub. 3. The carpets haven't been steam cleaned in quite some time. White socks were quickly dirty. 4. The coffee grinder was broken. 5. Can opener was broken. 6. Minimal amount of toilet paper and paper towels were provided so we had to purchase more. 7. Ice box did not produce ice so we needed to purchase ice. 8. Mold in the shower. Interesting when a mandatory cleaning fee is applied. 9. Biggest issue - watch out for the $150 cleaning fee. It doesn't matter in what condition you leave the property, you're going to get charged $150. We were asked to do a load of towels, with our own detergent, and willingly tidied up the house. We were charged $150. We could have left the house in complete disorganization and still have been charged $150.

The place was perfect for our large group ( from New York, Delaware and Arizona) -lots of beds and rooms and towels, etc. The pool was perfect for the kids. It was so nice having ocean view places to eat on both sides of the house that we could use at different times of the day. The weather was perfect (of course) and we did the normal tourist things including Torrey Pines, Point Loma Light House and the Zoo. We only ordered out once and Pizza Nova is very good . There are nice places to eat right on the San Diego Harbor. Vons is great for food shopping, just takes a minute to get a card there. Guestbook comments

After reviewing this listing , speaking to the owners representative and Googling the fantabulous location close to everything San Diego our Team leader decided to bring our work group in for our convention joined later in the week by some family members. We had plenty of room for our original group of 8 to spread out and relax and were able to hold a meeting in the Den while the blue blue Pacific Ocean sparkled in the background. We had a repair issue in prep for our meeting and the property manager showed up quickly to fix the issue and add an electrical strip for more outlets. The house was clean and nicely appointed and the access to the pool and jacuzzi right off the kitchen and some bedrooms was great. We used the built in jacuzzi late afternoon/evening after meetings and before dinner and it was great, the pool even better. When the family members came for 3 days there were now 15 in the home and we still had room to ramble about.Nice big kitchen and dining table had ocean view. The pool cabana bath and showers made it easy with the extra people and the bikes and beach gear were appreciated. Also appreciated was the washer and dryer room to use when needed, though there were tons of towels folded in the closet for us. The drive to the convention center was an easy 5 or so miles and the airport was so close yet so far away. While we didn't have time for everything, we were cab close to the Gaslamp district for dinner, and Seaworld and the Zoo are nearby too. Would not hesitate to stay here again at this home for business, pleasure or both.

We had so much fun getting together for our successful reunion and it was very pleasant making the arrangements. We enjoyed bike rides on the free bikes you provided and used all the free boogie boards and beach equipment you had as well. Other beach vacation homes had us rent all that and it did add up so we really appreciated the use of it all. Riding to OB was fun and along Sunset Cliffs. Hodads in OB for huge burgers. The home is comfortable and well appointed. We especially enjoyed the pool and hot tub in the back yard and watching the sunsets over the ocean just out the front windows. The people in the neighborhoods were all very friendly and the house location is convenient to all the attractions in San Diego, yet far enough away from the traffic, noise and congestion of other areas in San Diego. We really liked not getting on the freeway to go to Sea World and Mission Beach. Undoubtedly we will return for another vacation

It was a truly memorable stay and our only regret is that we could not stay longer. It was our first time to San Diego so we did not know the area, but could not have been happier with the location. As they say in the UK, Sunset Cliffs Drive "does exactly what it says on the tin". The whole house frontage has an uninterrupted view of the ocean, and the large, brand new deck provided the ideal setting from which we could watch the glorious sunsets every evening. Ocean Beach has a lovely laid-back feel to it, much less "resorty" than some of the other places we saw in Mission/Pacific Beach, yet still very close to all the main attractions. The house itself was really well equipped, with an attention to detail that made a real difference, particularly when traveling with young children as we were. There were lots of toys and games for all ages, more towels/linen that the average hotel and, for the avid chef, a great selection of high quality cookware (and even sharp knives - a real rarity in vacation rentals!). The house is very well proportioned, with masses of natural light from a double/triple height ceiling in the main living room and den and windows to catch all day sun. The staff was very helpful at every stage, and all the booking/check in arrangements were very efficient. In short, we would happily recommend this home to any other family and would certainly book again ourselves the next time we're in San Diego. Thank you very much for a wonderful week spent.

The house was found in good order and clean....everything we needed worked and the property manager was quick to offer assistance in fixing/replacing items. The grassy area and pool and spas suited our outdoor family and most of our activities were outdoors. The location, across the street from the ocean was beautiful and pleasant. Had a great time with everyone of the 22 folks finding comfortable sleeping arrangements....
