We were the first people to stay in this lovely newly renovated 2-bedroom apartment in the buzzing heart of the East Village. It has simple but nice decor, has comfortable beds, is a good size, has a great shower, is clean and had pretty much all that we needed for our stay in NYC (including a hairdryer, towels, computer with internet access etc). The only slight negatives were that it did smell rather strongly of paint (which hopefully will disappear once it's aired) and I would probably recommend ear plugs as the gorgeous but very busy Cafe Orlin is just beneath it! However, the location of the apartment is perfect if you want to enjoy living like a New Yorker (which we did!) - Cafe Orlin is perfect for brunch, cakes and evening meals and we also checked out nearby Cafe Mogador - fantastic food :) The apartment is also walking distance to plenty of other restaurants and bars, a variety of shops, the subway (Uptown and Downtown), nearby Greenwich Village, Soho and Tompkins Square Park. Haim who manages the property was very helpful, he met us at the apartment even though we arrived quite late, he came over to help us when we had a problem with the internet and allowed us to leave our luggage in the apartment the day we left even though we weren't flying home until the evening. I would rate the apartment 4 1/2 out of 5, would definitely stay there again and have already recommended it to friends as a much cheaper and nicer alternative to a hotel!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This place is all about location, and it couldn't be better! The neighborhood was great for walking around at all hours, and our teenage sons loved being able to go out for a midnight snack...sometimes after midnight! We were close to 2 subway lines (3-4 blocks away), tons of great restaurants and bars, and some of the best neighborhoods in lower Manhattan. The apartment was small (of course), but comfortable for 5 of us to relax in when we needed a break from the busy city. We could have used a few more amenities in the kitchen, but overall I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting adventure on St. Marks.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for your comments hope to see you again soon.

Superb location for good food/drink and easy access to public transportation. Breakfast downstairs at Cafe Orlin is not to be missed....brunch line is out the door by 11 am so go by mid-morning at the latest. Flat is very accommodating but minimalistic. More beds than floor space so perfect for a larger group looking to spend more time exploring the city than lounging in place. Don't miss the Frick Collection; manageable but diverse art compilation in a architectural masterpiece that does its best (and succeeds in my humble opinion) to outshine the collection. so glad to have lodging options such as these since we are not so much the doorman crowd.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for your comments hope to see you soon again .

Pros: Location, we love the East Village, close to subway, cafes, bars, supermarkets. Beds are pretty good. Nice hot water in the shower.Kitchen (although we didnt use it) Telephone, Tv, DVD, Wifi, Computer.. Cons: Noisy. You can hear absolutely everything (even the noise of the plates beign washed) from the Cafe Orlin and in the front room from the street (although this seems to be normal in Manhattan) Bring earplugs. Hot as hell. Only a small window to the street, no air circulation and heater too high. Smell of gas in the kitchen, a little disturbing. Cheap... the wooden chairs are old and weak, you can not sit there for a long time or you´ll end in the floor. Not charming at all, not a single detail, no blackouts, not nice decor.... Overall, the experience was not bad. If you are looking for a charming comfortable place to spend some time in enjoying the apartment, this place maybe is not for you. If you are looking for a place to come back and have dinner in a nice east village cafe or restaurant and sleep after a long day in the city, this could be the place (Providing you are not a light sleeper)Owner response: Thanks for your comments .

Listing is completely accurate. Owner very accommodating and helpful. The unit was very clean. Neighborhood is busy with many great restaurants and shops of unusual types. ORPHEUM THEATER is right around the corner and looked like fun: we were too late to get tickets for the show. The restaurant below the unit creates some noise, we viewed this as part of the vibrant neighborhood and were able to sleep soundly after a full day in the city. (It may be too noisy for light sleepers). A great bargain, and I would definitely stay there again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Happy you had a good time hope to see you soon .

We stayed at St Marks place in november 2012. The apartment was clean and nice. We liked the brick wall, the wooden floors and the location. Haim has welcomed us very nicely. There is 3 rooms in a row, and only the first room (room1) has a window on the outside. The window in the last room (room3) is on a very small air duct, so no day light and you can't open the window. The room in between (the living room or room 2) is small and has no window. The heating system was only in room 1, it was overheated, you could not regulate it, so you had to open the window, and the street is quite busy. I thought that the noise coming through the floor, from the cafe Orlin (which is a very nice and popular cafe), was much more annoying then I thought it would be. You could hear the voices, the laughs and the music at least until 3am! From room3 (through the air duct) you could hear the busy kitchen, with all the washing up noises. On the saturday night there were a party just over us, with an outstanding noise, people coming up and down, ringing the door bell, singing, screaming etc.. we didn't sleep! The place was definitely to noisy for us! It reminds me what my step dad always said: cheap is always to expensive! In conclusion: if you are not afraid of noise, it is a nice and cheap place to stay in!Recommended for: Tourists without a car.
Owner response: THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS,THE NOISE FOR THAT EVENING WAS UNUSUAL BECAUSE THERE WAS A BIG PARTY IN THE BUILDING .

The suite was exactly as listed. We found the downstairs cafe played loud music at night but after a couple of days we got used to it. The location is good, we walked to SoHo, Little Italy, Washington Park, and it's a few minutes walk to the subway. It's not 5-star accommodations but definitely worth it for people who want to see New York on a budget. 4 of us were able to stay there comfortably, whereas in a hotel we'd be too cramped. Our flight wasn't until later in the afternoon so Haim was kind enough to let us store our luggage after check out. I would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I just want to echo everything that everyone else is saying: This rental is clean an comfortable. It is a great value and Haim was very charming to work with. We stayed for three nights on a "girls weekend". There were four of us staying and everyone enjoyed the space. We visit New York often and we will definitely look to stay here (or in another of Haim's properties) the next time we come through!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had an enjoyable stay in this apartment. It was in my favorite area of the city, and was fully stocked with everything we needed to feel comfortable. Haim was very nice, and explained everything thoroughly. Had to reset the breaker quite a few times, but that wasn't a big deal. I would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: IM GLAD YOU HAD ENJOYABLE TIME HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN !SOON ! THE BREAKERS PROBLEM WAS DUE TO PLUGGING THE A.C. IN THE WRONG SOCKET ! SORRY ....

Katz's Delicatessen View on map
Katz's Delicatessen It would not have been possible for Katz’s Delicatessen to survive three depressions, numerous recessions and two World Wars if Katz’s wasn’t the best deli in NYC. Opened in 1888, Katz’s Deli has maintained the tradition of quality that made us a beloved deli among the immigrants who crowded into the Lower East Side one hundred years ago. Since then, generations have stood before the carver as he skillfully carves a pile of pastrami, turkey or corned beef. It’s the exceptional taste that has carried Katz’s name far beyond NYC. Over the last century, a lot has come and gone, but Katz’s Delicatessen is still where it was in 1888.
