Great for Family stay
Great for Family stay
A very comfortable, nicely laid out home for the family stay. Bedrooms are separated by the living area, so we slept in the master bedroom while the kids stayed in the queen bedroom with baby and the granddaughter slept in the twin room. So the 3 in the morning cries for food and early rising weren't a problem for us! Deck was fabulous for the early morning coffee and evening wine and the time in between! Very easy access to beach and yet the house is situated on a street away from the main road so it is safe for the kids and has that away from it all feel. We enjoy this end of the island as it is away from the hustle and bustle, yet easy access to Charleston and the surrounding area. The house is very comfortable, where the furniture is nice but lived in enough so it's just like home. Owners were very easy to work with and security deposit was promptly returned. Would definitely stay again. Thanks, Val and Noel.

Peaceful Beauty in Folly/Rockin' Food in Charlestn
Peaceful Beauty in Folly/Rockin' Food in Charlestn
We had the most peaceful time at your house in Folly Beach. What a wonderful thing to sit on the deck and watch the tide wash in and out. To walk to the end of your own private pier and fish, to take a very short walk to the ocean and walk and walk. One day we walked north to the end of the beach by the lighthouse and back. The next we walked from The Tides hotel back to the house. Each night watching the sunset or the texture of the clouds, with the tide going in or out, and all the birds. What a piece/peace of heaven you have. The house was perfect for two couples (we didn't even use the room with twin beds) and felt like a real home with your family pictures, art work and comfy furniture. The deck was my favorite place. My husband is all fired up to go to San Francisco because of the prints in the living room : ) We spent two days in Charleston. For amazing food go to The Cru Cafe (sit at the chef's table), Husk (both restaurant & bar), McCrady's (for your fancy dinner), MacIntoshes between 5-7pm for the Bacon Happy Hour. After Charleston we went to Folly for 3 nights at Val and Noel's. I didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to come back. Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home.

Great experience - traveled from Upstate
Great experience - traveled from Upstate
We stayed during one of Charleston's busiest weekend -Cooper River Bridge Run. The peacefulness of staying on the marsh side of Folly, yet only a short walk directly to the beach was such a wonderful experience. The house was clean and the floor plan was excellently laid out - 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen/gathering room area, deck overlooking the marsh, and adequate parking. The owner was personable, courteous, and easy to work with. This will become one of our favorite get aways. It was a great surprise because the pictures did not do it justice. Warm and inviting with great airconditioning, lights, comfy beds, serene views,Morris Lighthouse view, and easy access to all areas. A few small mtce issues that I am sure will be corrected immeditaely. AWESOME STAY. Thank you!

Spring Break 2011
Spring Break 2011
My wife and two children, 14 and 16 visited for a week this year. I just re-read the descriptions listed by the owners and it is all absolutely spot on!....Usually you take these descriptions with a grain of salt, as it is sometimes a sales pitch and you're not sure what to expect until you get there. Let me assure you, we were blown away with the view as we walked in the front door. As we explored the house, we knew this was going to be an excellent "base" for our Spring Break adventures. We went to Patriot's Point and Fort Sumter, and visited Charleston....only 15 minutes away. Had a nice storm one day, so we stayed "home" and put on some music and played some games until the sun came out....then walked to the Lighthouse and did some shelling and photography......Spent some time fishing and crabbing....not very successful, but gathered some oysters and cooked them on the grill for an appetizer!...Yum! We took our Kayaks and enjoyed paddeling out and about in the river....saw some dolphin feeding at low tide and enjoyed the awesome sunset on the water...watch the tides though! Sleeping arrangements were more than comfortable and even had a fire in the fireplace every night! Enjoyed the local cuisine, but also had spaghetti night and breakfast at "home" to help keep from breaking the bank on food....the local Piggly Wiggly had it all! Fantastic Kitchen, all appliances, dinnerware, utensils etc....top notch and a FULL on Spice Rack!....we love to season everything and used quite a bit of the seasonings.....Comfy couches and I got the recliner with the hassock as my personal evening unwind location with a great view of the TV (sports!) and a view of the river with a sideways glance. We ate on the deck and had morning coffee on the wicker furniture out back. We were fortunate as the two rentals were vacant untll our last day, so it was VERY quiet.....the locals do local things such as lawn care, leaf blowing, deck washing.....but life isn't vacation for everyone all the time...so we went with the flow! We all agreed that this was a fantastic vacation spot and look forward to going back in the future!.....Communication with the owners was adequate, friendly, and got our security deposit back within days of returning to our real home. If you book this, I don't see how you wouldn't be completely satisfied with your decision!....Have fun!

About: Noel is a semi retired, property developer in the U K and I am Company Secretary. Our primary residence is in a small village in Leicestershire, an area approximately 100 miles north of London. We have three children whose ages range from 29 down to 18.We have always enjoyed taking vacations with our family and their partners whenever possible as we are such a close family and so enjoy each others company. Now, whenever we can, we all try to get across the 'pond' to our beloved Folly.
Why Private Homes:
Over the years, we have spent many enjoyable, holidays, traveling throughout the U.S. and having relatives that had moved down to the Charleston area, we decided to visit and explore this most interesting of regions. During our visit, we were taken to the beach...... it was of course Folly, as it is the closest Barrier Island to down town Charleston. From the minute we approached the island, passing the 'boat' ( everyone asks about it and checks it out ) we literally fell in love with it's happy, unspoiled, magical charm. The fact, that there are so many facilities for all ages to enjoy, really appealed to us. Our children loved everything from the surfing shops, with every shape of surfboard, waterskis, wetsuits, swimwear imaginable to the numerous jewelery and clothing stores! They darted from one store to the other on Centre Street, enjoying the variety and uniqueness of them all. We spent several days visiting Folly that trip and decided to rent a house there and really get to know the Island. Having vacationed there for nearly 4 weeks, we as a family made the unanimous decision to begin a search for the vacation home of our dreams and we were so, so lucky to find it!! WELCOME!!
