We (3 couples from Australia) stayed here for 3 days in late September 2011. We chose it because it was described as quiet and peaceful. The house is good, but there is evidence of recent and unfinished renovation. The location is very convenient for access to La Florestra Rail Station (300 mtrs) and thus Barcelona, with a frequent and fast service. The real problem is the noise. The railway track is 40 metres from the front windows (they are double glazed, but that is not helpful) and the frequent trains rattle past every 5 to 10 minutes. Everyone in the neighborhood must have 5 dogs, because they bark most of the day and night. We were fortunate that the weather was cool so we could close all the windows at night, but that didn't really help. It would be a nightmare in hot weather with the windows open for cooling. In conclusion, good location, reasonable house, terrible noise.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The house is really beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and there is plenty of space even with 10 people. The beds were good, and we were glad of the 4 bathrooms! The pool was small, but the kids just loved it, and never complained that they couldn't watch TV (no cable, reception of even local stations poor). There were plenty of towels, which was good, because the kids were in the pool 2-3 times a day. We often ate out on the deck, which was very roomy. But the largest problem is: the noise. You can see the train tracks in a picture, and it is great that the connections to town are so good. But during the day a train passes once every 5 minutes or so - and even at night time there are freight trains or so passing through - the last train is about 1 am and the first local train runs at about 5 am. It was impossible to get a good night's sleep, even with earplugs. When trains were not passing, there were (wild?) dogs barking all night, and the neighbors up the hill were singing and dancing on their terrace at 1am in the morning.... The refrigerator and oven and dishwasher are nice, but there could be more plates and bowls for serving food and keeping leftovers in the fridge - and some sharper knives and better cooking utensils. We love to cook and the fresh markets downtown had such fantastic ingredients available that we cooked almost every night, trying to make do with implements that were available. We ate once at the restaurant next door - tasty but pricey. The owner was very helpful, bringing by a bicycle so that we could check out the area. The local grocery was closed, so we had to shop at the mall that was a good ways out. We finally found a bakery that was open not too far away. There was only one key to the place - large groups need 2 or 3 keys, as we did different activities during the day. So the overall experience is mixed: lovely house, good location (Barcelona is fantastic!), a few details that could be better, and the terrible noise. I would remove the word "quiet" from the description. We are coming back to Barcelona - but not staying here.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: We are a family with two children. We live and work in Barcelona. We enjoy the city a lot but also travel.
Why the Owner Chose Other Barcelona Properties:
The house is located in La Floresta, Sant Cugat, very well communicated with the Barcelona city center by train (15 minutes), and at 5 minutes from Sant Cugat city, in the forest, in the Colserolla natural park. 20 minutes from the airport. Is very near the Tibidabo park. You have the beaches from Barclona at 20 minutes and Costa Brava at 1h by car. In Barcelona you can enjoy from the cultural life: museums, monuments, etc...
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Is an ideal house for one family with children. Comfortable, quiet, located in a natural park, but very well communicated.
