Lea by the Sea is a luxurious beach house with its own private beach and large , floor to ceiling panoramic windows in every room but one.. The house was completely remodeled in 2009. It contains flat screen televisions in all bedrooms and a 48 inch tv in the great room. It has internet Wi-Fi throughout the house. It has a large heated pool and jacuzzi.
All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and private balconies. It has an elevator/lift to all 3 floors. The sense you get from the house is a light, bright, airy, open and casual feeling. It is situated in an upscale area with Sanibel yacht club just 5 minutes' walk away where you can hire a boat or dine at the famous Grandma Dots. There are several restaurants within easy walking distance.
Sanibel is a narrow island with the gulf on one side and the bay on the other side , it is joined to the mainland by a 3 mile bridge..
Further Details: Sanibel is a unique destination and forbids the big names like McDonald's, Wal-Mart, Pizza Hut and other multiples. Most of the shops and restaurants are owner run, giving a very low key, easygoing, personal and friendly atmosphere to the island. There are 3 golf courses the island, The Dunes, Beachview, and The Sanctuary.
There are cycle lanes absolutely everywhere. Crime does not exist. A great place for kids. Over half the island is a nature reserve and you can drive, cycle or canoe through most of it. The famous Florida Everglades are just an hour away.

My family's stay at Lea By The Sea was what dreams are made of. Everything about the experience was as -or more than- promised and first rate all around. On the first day everything went as smooth a silk. The key was in the lockbox, the home was immaculately clean, and the view out the panormamic back windows when you walk in the front door was drop-to-your-knees stunning! We had seven people and all settled in with plenty of room to spare. The elevator to all floors was also perfect for my 87 year old handicapped father, who was able to move around the spacious home at will. While we had thought that we'd spend a lot of lunches and dinners out, we found that we didn't ever want to leave this comfortable and tastefully decoated luxury environment. So we ate in for nearly every breakfast, lunch and dinner, which we easily prepared in the well equipped kitchen. Most of the time in the evening we grilled out on gas grill on the elevated patio right outside the kitchen. We dicovered Jerrys, a great grocery store right up the street for all of our supplies, including great chops and steaks. For seafood grilling, we bought fresh filets of Black Grouper, Snapper and Chilian Sea Bass from Timbers which was just a little further up the street and around a corner. The evenings we did dine out we went to The Captiva House On Captiva...WOW...excellent chef...great service, highly recommended. Still, the hypnotic highlight of our stay was the incredible show that was constantly taking place so close, right outside the four huge floor-to-ceiling back glass panels! Diving pelicans, sneaky, slow motion great egrets, kamakasi terns and frolicking dolphins would entertain us for hours. Once we actually saw three dolphins fly completely out of the water straight up in the air, almost standing on their tails. Just fantastic! We spent countless hours in the comfortable setting right by the windows drinking coffee or cocktails mesmerized by the action. All in all, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that nobody in our family will ever forget. To top it all off, in continuing first class fashion, I had a check in my mailbox for the full security deposit within one week of departure. I've got to go back again someday soon--it's just a must! Thanks so much to the owner and his wonderful assistant for sharing this fabulous home and ensuring a flawless vacation for my whole family. I don't know where to begin! My family and I have rented homes around the world and have had "too many" vacations! Lea by the Sea and Sanibel are out of this world! The location is perfect, just minutes from anything we needed. However, having our own swimming pool, private beach and stunning views from every window made us not want to leave the house! I would highly recommend this home to anyone that promises to not rent the weeks we want to stay there!! The owner and the property exceeded our expectations at every level--count on us year after year!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
