Communication between Angela an us was excellent. The penthouse was clean and very livable. Spent evenings on the deck enjoying, sunsets and views. The city has so much to offer, we did not rent a car, rented bikes on our sunny day and either walked, took the bus or aqua bus the other 2 days, Our destinations included Stanley Park on bikes, Mariner Museum and Granville Island, and the Museum of Anthroplogy. Three days of sightseeing and relaxing on the deck. The market was great to pick up breakfast items and deli dinners after a day of sight seeing. We would definitely go back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+.
Owner response: It was an absolute pleasure having you as our guests. Thank you for the lovely review and we sincerely hope to have you back some time in the future, all the best, Angela and Bill.

We wanted an escape, but didn't have the time for Europe so we settled on Vancouver. This condo fit the ticket. We read, watched videos, took a few day trips - the condo was perfect. We were there in winter and the condo was toasty and the hot tub divine. We watched the changing city views through a variety of weather: Sun, fog, rain, snow, stars. Angela was the perfect hostess, helped us get settled in by phone, provided detailed instructions, then faded back and let us enjoyed the place. The unit is exactly as advertised and the photos are accurate. A real find. In our week there we never heard a peep from any of the neighbors - it was a very private space. The only noise was at night in the bedroom (as noted by others). The elevator machinery ia on the others side of the bed room wall. There may have been a problem with one particular unit, other than that the sound was similar to a washer, kind off a wooshing. It did not interfere with our sleep. If I would have changed one thing, I would have packed far less. There is a full washer and dryer so we could have washed as we went! There is a lovely grocery store a block away, a Starbucks a half block away, a rental car location a block and a half away. We rented a car for the duration but didn't really need to. If Angela will have us we would love to come back next January!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you both for such a lovely review. We enjoyed having you as our guests and would be delighted if you joined us again next January. All the best, Angela.

My husband and I stayed here for our week away after the wedding. We were so happy to finally make it to Vancouver and knew there was a patio over looking the city and bay waiting for us. That is the first place we went. What an amazing view. We felt 'at home' here. Everything was there for us. There are markets and small grocery stores within walking distance, amazing restaurants and coffee shops close too. The parking spot that is included with the condo was a life saver! From the first email, we felt at ease with Angela. She helped us with everything I needed! We owe Bill and Angela a lot for giving us a great expierence in Vancouver! We are already trying to plan our return visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Agree with everything said in previous reviews. Condo was in a great location. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, easy access to Granville Island and downtown via the Hop On/Hop Off (a great way to get around and learn about the city). We really enjoyed sunset dinner at Monks just across the water from Yaletown dock. The condo itself was very comfortable and clean and, as said, the upstairs deck was fabulous with views over the city and out to the water. There was a bottle of wine and chocolate waiting when we arrived which was much appreciated. The only negative to this condo was that the elevator shaft was just on the other side of the bedroom wall and we could hear it running all night. (Maybe we are more sensitive to noise than others.) Otherwise, great condo.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for staying with us. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed all of the wonderful opportunities that Vancouver has to offer. All the best, Angela and Bill.

Having stayed in several VRBO properties in Vancouver, we were looking for something with a property with a view and close to Granville Island (great food shopping area). This was the place! It started upon arrival; well we arrived early (its what time the train from Seattle gets there) the housekeeper came down and let us in; we stowed our suitcases, picked up the keys and left her to finish getting the place ready for us. We had a lovely afternoon and when we got back to the condo with food to cook, there was wine and chocolate waiting for us (Thanks Angela) The kitchen was a wonderful size with everything we needed, the living room was comfy with a great TV for the little TV we watched. But the real great area is upstairs, the bedroom, and off the bedroom is a wonderful deck with very nice seating for four and an awesome hot tub. We took a glass of wine up and relaxed in the tub and watched the sun go down, the seaplanes cruising in and people commuting home from work (hahaha) I don’t know what else to say, the place was clean, the host invisible (although I am sure they would be there if we needed anything. The building well kept, the views are stunning. We’ll be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We enjoyed having you stay with us and are happy to hear that you will be back. Take care, Angela and Bill.

Vancouver is very much a walker friendly city and this apartment is in an excellent location from which to do so. A walk across the bridge or should you prefer, one of the little ferry boats, gets one to the celebrated Granville Island. However, since my last visit to Vancouver several years ago, I note that said celebrated island has become more touristy and much more expensive. There are as good or better organic shops near this apartment and for seafood it is impossible to beat the freshness of Rodney's Oyster House which is a short stroll away at 1228 Hamilton Street. Likewise, there are many excellent restaurants and bars nearby which a quick Google search will provide updated details. The owner, a busy lady, was most helpful and accommodating. The apartment is, being a true penthouse, at the top of an older building (older in the sense that there is much very new apartment development in Vancouver) but nonetheless very well maintained. It is a two level construction with kitchen, bathroom, Euro laundry and lounge downstairs and bedroom up a short flight of stairs. The standout feature is the stunning roof deck with spectacular views of the city, False Creek and the magical mountains that surround this beautiful city. There is also a hot tub. Being Australian, we're unsure of hot tubs; we're used to getting into water to cool down, not heat up. So we didn't use it but I'm sure others who understand these things will love it. A BBQ would be nice ....... This is a wonderful place and thank you VRBO for listing it. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your review Anthony. You will be happy to hear that the apartment has just supplied the residents and guests with two brand new barbeques in the ground floor garden! All the best, Angela and Bill.

This is a wonderful bijou apartment with amazing views. it is incredibly clean and very well equipped. Seymour is a great location for access to the best food markets, Granville, Choices, Urban Fare. The provision of free wifi was really a bonus and Angela was most attentive in her help and assistance in anything we wanted to ask about. We highly recommend this apartment.Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind review. It was a pleasure having you stay with us and I hope someday you will return to City Solace. My husband and I were so delighted with everything that the owner's did to make this haven so perfect for our extended stay. Everything was greater than our expectations and the ongoing communication and helpfulness of the owners was so welcoming. We will stay again when we visit from New Zealand. What a fantastic location to be able to walk from the front door and be in the hub of the city. The apartment was clean and tastefully decorated and the bed is even more comfy than ours at home. So generous to have all the extras of condiments and soap etc and being able to wash clothes and basically have a home away from home. "La piece de resistance" is the view and hot tub on the deck - what a sight. No words can describe the bird's eye view of the great city of yours. We will be highly recommending your City Solace and look forward to our return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thankyou Di. It was a pleasure having you stay with us and we hope to see you back again soon, Angela.

Thank you, Angela! We walked in and immediately said "Ahhhhhhhhhhh". The view over English Bay and False Creek was spectacular. With two decks, we could have coffee in the morning or wine in the evening with a choice of location. And a hot tub overlooking the city! Be sure to enjoy it at night, when the lights of the city make it magical. Angela was so accommodating to us as we disembarked our cruise to Alaska in the early morning. We spent a wonderful week exploring all of Vancouver. The description and pictures do not do the condo location or lovely appearance justice. EVERYTHING you could want, from gourmet markets to a wide variety of restaurants, walking paths, ferries, historical areas, Granville Island and Stanley Park were within easy walking distance. We didn't take a single cab after arriving at the condo. Be sure to read the guest book for restaurant suggestions as well as activities. We especially enjoyed taking walks along parts of the more than 25 miles of seawall, finding great restaurants, and exploring historic Gastown and Granville Island. We never ran out of things to do, but often spent the evenings on the top deck having our own "happy hour" as the view was truely unbelievable. Angela was so gracious, and kept in contact with us by email and phone to make sure we had arrived and found everything we needed. We felt very welcomed. The WiFi and LARGE flat screen TV were very nice too during the few hours of rain. But we had sun EVERY day! We emailed all our relatives and friends within hours of arrival to tell them they should stay here when in Vancouver, either for a vacation or before or after a cruise. It was perfect.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

This was the best vacation in our home city ever-the best experience of being a tourist in our city. A gastronomic phantasmagoria! The Elbow Room for a country breakfast, the Twisted Fork for a Sunday dinner, great calamari and seared tuna salad at the Hub in Yaletown. We had a great seawall walk on Sunday-and enjoyed Brickhouse at the Yale on Sunday night (no cover!). But really the best part was just being here, enjoying the peace and beauty up here in the sky, hanging out with each other. We had a great time in a gorgeous place. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

About the owner: Bill and I are both keen sailors and have recently returned from sailing offshore. We love having projects and when the opportunity of buying a penthouse apartment in downtown Vancouver presented itself, we jumped at it. We have thoroughly enjoyed refinishing the hardwood floors and repainting the entire penthouse. After that was complete, we spent a month buying brand new furnishings throughout. It gives us great satisfaction to show our children what we have accomplished and look forward to sharing it with you too.
Why the Owner Chose Yaletown:
We spent some time looking for the right apartment. What really sold us on this penthouse, were the spectacular views and the large rooftop deck. We had already decided that we would like to be in the False Creek/ Yaletown area. Being close to the sea is always important to us both and combining this with easy walking-distance to the entire downtown area with all of its vast array of shops, restaurants, theaters, and clubs, was the perfect combination.
