We could not have picked a greater location! The house was perfect for my husband, myself and our two daughters. The house was clean, well stocked of anticipated supplies. There is a nice sized side yard for the kids to play in and the driveway was large enough for them to scooter in as well! We just returned home this weekend and we're all ready to book our vacation for next year in the same house! The view is outstanding, and we had no issues leaving our windows open at night. It's nice and quiet. We were only a few minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and the drive is just beautiful. We did frequent the pizza shop that is down the street and the prices were very reasonable and we also ate at the restaurant across the street and the prices were not overpriced. Highly recommend this house and the area in general. We all had an amazing vacation and did not want to leave! Hazel does an amazing job with everything that she has at the house for you to use!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was exactly as advertised! We loved the house, the location and the entire area! Very close to the Acadia entrance with a great restaurant right across the road. The owners were very gracious and the one tiny problem we encountered was fixed immediately. We would certainly rent it again. And contrary to some of the other reviews, we slept with the windows open and traffic was not a problem in the least!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful two-week vacation in Bar Harbor. The house was perfect for our family, (family of four, including two teenage daughters). The house was very clean & met all our needs. We swam at the pool almost every day & enjoyed Acadia National Park, shopping, hiking, kayaking & the whale watch tour. Will definitely consider coming back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was the first time we’ve ever rented a vacation home so I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t be as nice as pictured, but I can honestly say that the house is exactly as described and pictured. The house was clean and it’s obviously well maintained inside and out. Hazel was a pleasure to work with and she returned our security deposit promptly. It was so convenient to be able to do laundry during the week. It meant we didn’t have to pack as much. The kitchen is well stocked. The only thing we needed, but couldn’t find was a baking sheet so we just went to the store and bought a cheap one to use while we were there. Having internet access was helpful. We used it to keep up with email and check on directions, hours, etc. for local attractions. I LOVED the queen mattress. It was very comfortable. Wish I knew what brand it was so I could get one for home! We also loved having the DVD player. We had brought a few movies with us for family movie nights and we watched a couple (Shrek & Shrek II) from the movie library. Some more family movie selections would be nice. Downtown is only a few minutes away and Acadia’s Hull’s Cove entrance is literally right around the corner. Since our main purpose for visiting the area was to spend time in Acadia the location was absolutely perfect. We thought the restaurant across the street was a bit overpriced, but that is typical of establishments in touristy areas. We also felt the food at the sandwich shop was just so-so. However, the restaurant, sandwich shop, gas station/convenience store and post office were definitely convenient. We did enjoy our meals at The West Street Café as well as Stewman’s Lobster Pound. My advice is research before you go. There is so much to see and do in the area. We spent a week here and did not have time to see and do everything we wanted. We definitely want to return to this area and when we do we’ll be looking to stay at Cove Cottage again. As previous reviewers have mentioned the only draw-back is all the traffic noise from Route 3. The road is busy all the time; well into the evening and wee hours of the morning. We could not sleep with the windows open at night because it was just too loud (we live in the country.) While it would have been nice to sleep with the windows open and enjoy the ocean breeze it is not a big enough of a draw-back to deter us from staying here again. I would recommend Cove Cottage to anyone looking to stay in the Bar Harbor area.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife, dog, and I stayed at Cove Cottage in June 2010. Hazel and Deanna were very friendly hosts. It is a lovely home and perfect for our stay. The home was clean and well maintained. The lawn and hedge were freshly trimmed and the flowers made it feel like home, not a rental property. The queen bed had the most comfortable mattress ever (we wanted to take it home). The only draw-back is the traffic noise from the busy road leading to Bar Harbor. However, the view of Frenchman's Bay across the street made it worthwhile. At low tide, we walked on the beach many times enjoying the beauty. Upon a return trip to Mt. Desert Island, we will be looking to return to this property.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.

This was our third year at Hulls Cove. As always the house is clean and comfortable. The family members are super nice and take care of any problems though we have had none. Will return again for sure. Born and raised in Maine, I love coming home.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

Everything in our rental looked brand new and the place was spotless. The pictures were exactly what the place looked like and the view that was pictured with the property is the real thing. We have rented other properties in the past and this has got to be one of the best! The location was great. The park was just down the road and there was a restaurant across the street and a sandwich shop and a small general store within walking distance. The free bus also stopped nearby. There is so much to do in the area that you couldn't do everything in a week. We are not ones for crowds so this was a great time to visit (Sept). We had some of the sites to ourselves which gave you a chance to get some great pictures. I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Cove Cottage was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. Every amenity we might need was supplied, including a gas barbecue grill and internet access. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils, even a 25 to 50 cup coffee maker! The entrance to Acadia National Park and its visitor center was not even half a mile away. Downtown Bar Harbor was about a 3 to 4 mile drive, so the hustle and bustle was just ten minutes away, yet the cottage itself was peaceful and quiet. The ocean view from the living room window was beautiful, and it could be enjoyed from the Adirondack chairs on the lawn as well. A fine restaurant was just a walk across the street. We would highly recommend Cove Cottage. It felt like home. Also highly recommended are ranger talks and tours of the National Park, a drive to the quietside of the island and its towns and villages where much of the fishing is done, a whale watching trip out in the Atlantic, and the early bird specials at the West Street Cafe.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This property is truly a home away from home! Not only is it adorable and immaculately kept inside and out, but it has everything you could need or want, and then some. The kitchen is fully equipped, including an outside gas grill and lobster cooker. There is a full laundry and plenty of linens, including beach towels. So don't over pack! When you are not in Acadia which is walking distance, or downtown (7 minute drive), watch the premium cable TV and DVD's, listen to the music CD's, read books from the shelf, ride bikes or play in the big yard! You can even check your email. Access to the heated pool across the street was great...we went over almost everyday. The only negative thing: it is at a busy intersection (route 3 is the main road into and out of Bar Harbor, and Crooked Road is a cut through road to the middle of the island), so there is a lot of traffic noise. In fact it is difficult to keep the windows open at night and enjoy the ocean breezes from across the street.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners.

Dear Hazel, If we judged our first vacation in Maine by the weather this week - we would not return. However, your warm, cozy, more than all the comforts of home cottage made up for it. If your ever in Florida, give us a call. Thanks again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My daughters and I would like to thank you for a wonderful time! We hiked, biked and shopped Acadia and Bar Harbor. The cottage was great. Being so close to Acadia and Bar Harbor allowed us to spend more time outdoors. Thanks again for a very nice place. July 17, 2994Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Hazel, We came for a week and wanted to stay for the summer! We love the cottage - your attention to detail is everywhere! It quickly became our "home away from home". Thank you for sharing with us. We take with us great memories of Acadia Nat'l Park and Bar Harbor, as well as Cove Cottage. We'll certainly be sending our friends and family this way. 6-18-04Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
