This is a charming small house in an excellent Florence historic center location, just two blocks from the landmark Ponte Vecchio. Our guests love its charm, little terrace and excellent historic center location. It's even better then an apartment in Florence as it is a lovely private house right in the historical center of Florence.

Take a walk through Casetta Bonsi by viewing the video, see link above.

This is an extraordinary house in an extraordinary location, close to the action but situated in its own little piazza so that you can escape and relax on the terrace while listening to the sound of church bells tolling throughout majestic Florence.

For even more details see the URL below for our website.

It is tastefully decorated with an up-to-date kitchen and bathroom. You'll cherish the privacy and convenient access that this house offers.

Cross the Ponte Vecchio going towards the Pitti Palace, take a quick left up a little street, and you're home in two minutes after morning of sightseeing, an afternoon of shopping, or a long lunch. Just on the other side of the river is the famed Uffizi Gallery, only an five minute walk from the house.

One of the most surprising aspects is that this is truly an independent house, on its very own little piazza, the tiny "Piazza de' Bonsi " and was built in 1890 by the longtime Florentine Bonsi della Ruota family. As you enter the house, the living room and kitchen are to your right, and the stair case to the second floor is directly in front of you. The house has beautiful Italian terra-cotta tile throughout the main living area, a brand-new kitchen and bathroom with the latest appliances, as well as charming decorator touches throughout.

The spacious living room has a beautiful antique painted Venetian china cupboard, lovely Tuscan dining table and chairs, and a comfortable sofa that includes a pop-up trundle bed that can be made up into two twin beds or a king-size bed (first hand experience attests that these are very comfortable beds!). Enjoy breakfast in the sleek kitchen if you prefer at the little counter that overlooks onto the private garden of the lovely villa next door. Off the kitchen is a small laundry room with washing machine.

The bedroom is upstairs with a king-size bed and beautiful Tuscan armoire and dresser. Off the upstairs landing is the private terrace where you can take your morning espresso or sip a glass of Chianti as the sun sets over this dazzling city. The bathroom is nicely appointed, clean white tile and Carrera marble, a terrific enclosed shower, bidet, plenty of water pressure, lots of storage and halogen lighting.

Florence is a great city for walking, now that car access has been restricted, you can saunter through the city streets in the heart of town as the streets are now pedestrian boulevards. Since Casetta Bonsi della Ruota is so conveniently located you can walk to all the major attractions.

Wonderful Apartment in Florence

Guest: Krystle (-)
Date of Stay: 10/22/11 Review Submitted: 11/28/11

The home was more beautiful than pictures did justice. The home was spotless upon arrival. Complete with a welcome basket, fresh flowers, and a bottle of wine. It was as picturesque as I had hoped. The location was excellent. We were walking distance to many attractions (Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, etc.) and many restaurants of all kinds (gelato, pizza, self service, traditional resturants, up scale seafood restaurants, etc.). When I say walking distance, I mean 3, 5, 10 minute walks. If you are not a city dweller, I recommend ear plugs. The location is very quiet compared to many spots in the city, but if you aren't used to noise at night just bring ear plugs. Otherwise, this was a great place for our stay in Florence. I would go back in a heartbeat, and recommend it to our family and friends.

Everything about this charming home is perfect. The location in Oltarno is ideal. Much quieter than across the river but easily accessible to everything. If we ever get back to Florence, we would definitely stay here again.

Just a note to tell you everything was perfect at Casetta Bonsi. It was, as always, beautifully presented. Achille and I had a wonderful month in Florence. The Casetta is so perfectly located. It made all our travels so easy.We went on a tour of the Chianti region with Maurizo. It was a very pleasant day, such incredible beauty. We took trips to Fiesole, Lucca , Assisi, San Gimignano, Siena. I am really homesick for Italy !Thank you for your assistance in making our trip so perfect. [Thank you for your repeat business, we hope to welcome you back to again next year. (Clients' 2nd stay at Casetta Bonsi). Lisa Italy Perfect]

One week of bliss in Florence! We have just returned from a magical month in Italy. The highlight was definitely our week in Florence. Casetta Bonsi was in an ideal location, literally 100m from the Ponte Vecchio. We walked everywhere, shopped at the local supermarket, found a new gelateria just around the corner, ate with the locals on 'our' side of the Arno & couldn't have been happier. The house has everything you could ask for. Maurizio contacted us during the week to check that all was ok. We arrived to find a bottle of wine, biscuits, fresh flowers & a few basics. A very gracious host!

We had a great trip, things could not have gone better. We took a tour with Maurizio and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The house was perfect. The new grocery store was really good. We definitely want to return.

The best of Firenze

Guest: Ed and Dee (Flagler Beach)
Date of Stay: 04/12/11 Review Submitted: 04/24/11

Every positive point by previous reviewers is seconded by this senior couple who spent ten wonderful nights at this "small" house. You will find Maurizio most friendly, helpful and responsive to every need. While the first time walking up the hill to the house seems daunting (especially to Floridians who never see hills at home) you are rewarded with the comforts of the house and soon forget the steep grade. There is everything you might need in the house and the photos provided are a mediocre substitute for the real thing. It is spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Owner response:We are so pleased these guests enjoyed their stay! Regards, Lisa, Italy Perfect

We spent part of our Honeymoon in Florence 30 years ago and this was our first trip back and our stay at Casetta Bonsi was perfect. We were promptly and politely met by Maurizio who could not have been more informative and charming. There was a welcoming basket of fruit, wine, delicious cookies and candy. The house met all our needs and was immaculately clean and smartly furnished. All the restaurant on the recommendation list we tried were enjoyable. Would return in a heartbeat.

We had a perfect stay in the cozy Casetta Bonsi. Maurizio was a delightful host who has taken great care of this special house. We cooked in several nights and found everything we needed to relax and plan the next day's adventure. Leave your guidebooks and novels at home. The small library includes all the references you need to find your way through and around Florence. The location is perfect - away from the crowds, but close to everything. We would return in a heartbeat!

Date of Stay: 01/19/11 Review Submitted: 02/28/11

From the minute Maurizio met us at the Casetta with wine, cookies, fruit and flowers, we knew this was the place for us. Spent a little over a month in a comfortable, well located, historical surrounding. There were groceries, bakery, gellatti, restaurants all within a few minutes walk. Ponte Vechicco was less than 10 minutes away making the center of Firenze about 15-20 minutes walk. The Casetta was spotlessly clean and well equipped with kitchen needs. We hired Maurizio as a guide one day to travel through the Chianti /Tuscan countryside and he was a knowledgeable, interesting guide. "Discovered" a wonderful wine bar with great home cooking across the Pitti Palace Piazza called GOLA PITTI E CANTINA. Tell the guys that Mark and Ethel sent you. From start to finish, Lisa and Italy Perfect and the owners of Casetta were molto bene.
