We first stayed at the Rocking TJ Ranch in July 2012 when visiting our son who is a student at MSU. We enjoyed our stay so much the first time that we booked it again while visiting over Easter weekend in March 2013. The home is spotlessly maintained and well equipped. A new hot tub has been installed on the back patio and we thoroughly enjoyed using it after skiing to ease our sore muscles. We hosted Easter Sunday dinner for our son and some of his MSU college buddies, and all of them commented on what a nice place we had found for our stay. The views on the property are truly breathtaking. You can see snow capped mountains in every direction. It's a wonderful way to begin and end any day. Teresa, the owner of the Rocking TJ Ranch, is so pleasant and helpful. She makes sure that her property is in tip-top condition for her guests. We highly recommend the Rocking TJ Ranch for anyone visiting the Bozeman area in Montana because it is very conveniently located just 4 miles outside of the main downtown district where the shops, restaurants, parks, walking trails, and MSU can be found. We will definitely return for many more visits at the Rocking TJ Ranch.

Bundle up if you're sleeping in the master bedroom. The windows are so drafty I think I caught a cold sleeping there. The hot tub jets did not work unless you physically held down the button. The shower head is so caked with hard water residue, it squirted out the side, very annoying. I would recommend burning the scented candles as soon as you arrive, as the place has a very musty odor. The fireplace was the best part. Overall, the place was quite clean.

Owner response: I am sorry to read that you had such a disappointing stay. In order to keep our home well maintained we ask every guest to please bring to our attention the needed repairs. If the guests checking out do not help in this effort or have abused the home, the current user may find needed repairs the first night. Even though the home has been thoroughly cleaned, these repairs may be missed. Once notified, we are very committed to making necessary changes without disruption to the current guests stay. However, we now see that the guests with one night stay, such as this discounted special offer, may not be able to become familiar with the unique features of a guest house in one night. As we are available 24hrs, guests are encouraged not to hesitate to call with any concerns. Although there were a few concerns with your stay, I am happy hear that your family were able to enjoy the delightful fire, hot tub soak and complimentary bottle of wine for your night. All of the repairs and concerns you have mentioned have been addressed and fixed. The home is now in fresh excellent condition. Warm Regards, Rockin' TJ Ranch

We stayed at the Rocking TJ Ranch for a week while we visited our son who is a student at MSU in Bozeman. The ranch is very conveniently located just 5 miles outside the downtown area. It is an absolutely beautiful setting. You wake up in the morning looking at the mountains listening to the birds singing - very relaxing. The grounds and house are immaculately maintained. The house is well equipped with lots of little extras for a home away from home. All of the beds are extremely comfortable. We used the house as home base to take advantage of the many activities in and around Bozeman including a day trip to Yellowstone, a day trip to Big Sky Ski Resort, numerous hikes, Music on Main, shopping, and sampling a few of the city's good restaurants. Teresa (the owner) was very responsive to any of our questions and is onsite to handle any requests that arise during your stay. She made us feel very welcome. We had a fantastic trip and really did not want to leave. We recommend TJ's Rocking Ranch to all of our friends and can't wait to come back - hopefully many times!

We found the Rockin' TJ Ranch on "Home Away" and decided to rent it for nine days while in Bozeman for a July family reunion. We were immediately impressed by the beautiful grounds as we drove up the country drive and over the bridge. So much green grass, lots of trees, benches placed in many areas, and a stream and small lake with fish. The house suited us perfectly: five adults and two small children. The beds and furniture were very comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped, and there was an adjoining porch with table and chairs for adults and another for children. The sand area in the back yard had ample toys and was surrounded by a huge lawn clean enough to run around barefoot and to let the baby crawl on. The four-year-old loved driving the electric cars on the private asphalt road in front of the house. The staff was very friendly and accomodating and they supplied us with a crib, high chair, and other extras as we requested them. Would we stay at the Rockin' TJ Ranch again? You bet! It was an awesome place to stay.

What a great home. Was very clean and comfotable. We had a great time fishing, playing horse shoes and basketball. Really enjoyed the fire by the creek where we had lots of Smores. Enjoyed some evenings in the hot tub and sitting in front of the fire place on a couple cooler nights. The beds were so warm and comfortable it was hard to get out of them. Thank you Theresa for the great time.

We rented this house in Bozeman March 9-16. We left within three hours of checking in and found other accommodations for the week. The house is dark and depressing inside-- online photos not true to life. The fridge was full of opened food and condiments on the doors. The dishwasher was broken. The house has a hot tub, but the owner has removed all the control knobs (she said she didn't want people messing with them), leaving exposed screws sticking up in at least three places on the edge where you would enter the tub. These screws could easily cut children getting in or out. The owner showed us some test strips and chemicals on a shelf and said that we were "welcome to test the water and add any chemicals." I asked if that was what she recommended and told her that I knew nothing about hot tub chemicals. She said I could do what I wanted, which made me feel uneasy about whether it was properly treated and if I should let my kids get in it. The house has WHITE, wall-to-wall carpet throughout and a pile of black mulch directly in front of the entrance. Although my kids took off their shoes upon entering, some small specks still ended up on the carpet as the owner showed us the house. She immediately pulled out an unknown chemical in a ketchup bottle and gave me a lesson in how to clean the carpets, stating that all spots needed to be treated right away. She warned against using any other products, stating that these would simply make the dirty spots worse and result in deductions from our security deposit. The house had a sickly sweet chemical smell throughout. There was a pond that seemed frozen close to the house. The owner said kids loved to play on it and the she was "pretty sure" it was frozen solid. She then said it wasn't that deep, only 6 or 7 feet--plenty deep to drown in if you fall through the ice. Other problems--no privacy. In the few hours we were there, the owner was working a blower all around the house, though there were no leaves. She lives in the garage of the house with a door leading into the kitchen. The view out the back? A tool shed and a muddy hole filled with Little Tykes plastic toddler vehicles. We left and checked into a hotel. The next morning, we phoned and asked for a partial refund because the place was not kid-friendly or as we had expected. The owner became irate and kept screaming "this is my livelihood" before hanging up on me. We have NEVER had an experience like this before. Beware.

Owner response: The Rockin’ TJ Ranch takes reviews very seriously, especially those with a negative experience about the amenities we offer. We are sorry that the home did not live up to your expectations. We are very committed to accurately presenting the home and property. Our contract and cancellation policy are very clear. We are sorry that you could not stay and enjoy all we have to offer. Sincerely, Rockin’ TJ Ranch

I rented this house with my wife and two other couples while we were there for a friends wedding. The house was great! The owner was welcoming, easy to communicate with, and made sure all of our needs were met. The pictures are a perfect representation of the house, but what really exceded our expectations was how nice the property was. Luckily the weather was nice (in March you never know what you are going to get) and we were able to play horseshoes. There is a creek that runs through the property, and a nice fenced area in the back of the house. The back deck has everything you need (hot tub, bbq, etc) for outdoor activities. Also, the proximity to Bozeman was very convenient. This is the perfect place to stay if you want some privacy, and to be outside of town, but have quick and easy access to all that Bozeman has to offer.

We (3 couples) stayed here over the New Year holiday and had a great time. Our hostess Teresa was so welcoming and accomodating. Anything we needed, she came through. Beautiful property...great little trails/roads to walk on and enjoy the peacefulness and serenity of the area. Comfortable beds and nice hot tub. Also home is located not too far from town...just a few minutes to drive to downtown and enjoy the fantastic restaurants. We had not a bad meal there, while visiting Bozeman. Thanks again Teresa for our enjoyable stay.

              Year Purchased: 2005

About the owner: Montana is my home. I grew up in Kalispell Montana, Glacier Park country. Summer and winter outdoor recreation is second nature: horseback riding, hiking, camping, biking, river and lake water sports, alpine and nordic skiing, sledding, ice skating and snowmobiling. I moved to Bozeman to attend college and found more sunshine and all my favorite sports and night life right here and stayed. I am a mother of two and now a grandmother of a wonderful grandson. I have worked hard for what I have built and am proud to offer my home to you.

              Why the Owner Chose Bozeman:
I love this house and property! The view is spectacular and the creek front is envied by all. The house is warm and friendly. It is a peaceful haven not allowed by many homes this close to town. I also owned a landscaping company for 28 years and this property is a now a reflection of that skill. The meadows and lawns are like a golf courses. As well with my detailed nature, the house is clean and organized. You will find just about everything you need here. The transformation of this property has been a labor of love and my hope is to share it with you for your vacation!

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Guests marvel that with such a short and easy 4 mile drive from town they find a secluded slice of heaven.
