Amazing house, perfect location, ideal for group!
Amazing house, perfect location, ideal for group!
We spent two weeks at this home during the July/ August and we hope to never have to find a new spot to stay again. It was perfect. We have been visiting Telluride since 1984 and were previous owners at the Telluride Lodge. We know the town well and are now returning to send our kids to the same summer camp we enjoyed, Telluride Academy. For this visit we were traveling with in-laws as well as three young children. The house is so spacious, each family group had their own "level" in a way. I had the young kiddos in the basement level which was perfect and quiet. The monitor worked well all the way to the third floor so after much hiking and running around, the long afternoon naps in the quiet downstairs bunk room were welcome. The kids sacked out. The bathrooms adjacent to each room are very nicely done. This home, compared to many rentals, is much higher end with amenities including appliances, marble floors, heated floors, incredible audio/visual (including the drop down movie screen the kids loved). The main street-level floor has two bedrooms one of which was also set up as a perfect home office for us to keep laptops and all work material separate from the vacation mode. An easy place to sneak away for a conference call or to check email. Also on this floor was the mud room for all jackets, etc and the washing machine equipped with detergent and the garage where we stored bikes and strollers with easy access to the street for daily rides/ walks. The top floor is the main gathering area + kitchen and master bedroom with the beautiful big bathroom and outside deck + hot tub. The hot tub was enjoyed by all and the deck made for great nights to have a glass of wine watching the sky change during sundown. The kitchen was amazing. High end appliances, pots, pans, etc. We used the grill for cooking and enjoyed the large family table for meals and games. This house is simply perfect, well kept, well managed, incredibly spacious, and absolutely UNBEATABLE location. Even for our 2 year old we walked to the gondola at the end of the block almost twice daily to ride it up and back to Mountain Village. It's walk-able to all restaurants, the main grocery and the Library, which is hands down the nicest library you will find anywhere with daily events and activities - it's truly a cultural center like the 92nd St. Y in NYC. House manager, Heidi, was so great she responded to our calls within a matter of hours if we ever needed anything. We hope to return!

Perfect house for a big group
Perfect house for a big group
I rented this house for 7 friends and me for a long weekend in Telluride, and it was fantastic. My friends kept complimenting me on what a great choice it was, that the house itself was excellent and the location perfect. Walk out the front door, and the goldola is just a few minute walk away. One of the reasons that we came to Telluride was the access to a great downtown with bars and restaurants, and they are certainly there, but for two of our four nights we cooked dinner in. On those nights we took advantage of the well-equipped kitchen and whipped up huge meals, and then sat around the large dining table and talked and talked. It was so comfortable that nobody wanted to go out. One night we used the grill to make some great BBQ ribs. We took turns plugging our iPhones into the high quality whole-house music system. Having Hildy on call locally for any questions or problems was a super benefit. I would recommend this house to any group looking for a base in Telluride. Be sure to check out the Telluride Bistro for dinner and Alpino Vino high on the mountain for a wonderful lunch.

This house is perfect for anyone wanted to visit Telluride in the summer or winter. Close to everything...town, restaurants, gondola, etc. We rented the house with another couple and it fit all 9 of us very comfortably with room to spare. It had everything we needed, and the property manager was extremely helpful. I would definitely rent this house again.

About the owner: My wife and I live in Portland, Oregon but try to spend as much time as we can in Telluride year-round. My wife grew up spending her winter and summer breaks in Telluride. There has never been a place that is as meaningful to her as Telluride; the stunning mountains, the access to outdoor activities and the spirit of the town kept her coming back over the years. When we met, she wanted me to experience the beauty and lifestyle of Telluride, so we came out in the Fall of 2008, along with each of our fathers, for a week of hiking, off-roading, biking, and enjoying meals at Telluride’s fantastic restaurants. In 2009, we were married in Telluride in front of our friends and family. We wanted the wedding weekend to be as memorable for our guests as it has been for us. For us, there is a magical and awe-inspiring element about Telluride and it was our hope that our guests can experience the scenery and splendor we have enjoyed here together.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Gondola District:

Come summer, the Telluride region opens its trails, rivers and arms to adventurers of all interests offering world-class hiking, climbing, rafting, kayaking, fishing, Jeep touring and more. We invite you to experience Telluride and Mountain Village for yourself any time of year. Summers in Telluride are fun-filled with the great outdoors and festivals of all kinds. The Unique Benefits at this House:
455 Depot is located at the heart of Telluride, in town near the gondola. It is one of the most versatile locations in the Telluride area, providing easy walking access to the gondola, ski slopes, San Miguel river trail, a-ha school, town park, Bear Creek and other hiking trails and the historic Telluride shopping and nightlife. The street is a quiet, non-through street which is great for children. The home has the valuable attribute of a two car garage which is especially nice in snow season. The Depot home is also built with the master bedroom and family living areas (kitchen, dining room, living room) on the top floor for beautiful views and good sunlight. It’s possible to watch your friends and family ski down the mountain from the front porch, or sit in the 6 person hot tub on the back porch relaxing after a long day of outdoor activities. The home is large enough to accommodate extended family and friends and with multiple living rooms allows for some space for everyone. This home truly offers the best Telluride has to offer.
