This contemporary design, cozy house sits high up in the woods on 10 acres off Pikes Falls Road between Stratton and Jamaica. It's a great location - just 3 miles from the sweet little town of Jamaica and just 4 miles from Stratton's Sunbowl access road. The kitchen has just been totally renovated with granite countertops, new cabinets, etc. Close to skiing, hiking, Jamaica State Park, shopping (e.g - a great country store in Jamaica, lots of outlets in nearby Manchester), great restaurants, or just sit by the wood stove and enjoy the peaceful, secluded setting with a great view! The winter bonus is the great sledding (sleds provided!)and hiking or snowshoeing right outside your door! (Note: property is high up a beautiful country road, 4WD is usually essential in the winter.) It's a peaceful, beautiful setting to watch the snow fall, or be at the slopes in a few minutes. In the summer enjoy hiking, golfing, fishing and more nearby, including in Jamaica State Park which is just 3 miles away. A beautiful, natural swimming hole and water fall at Pikes Falls is just a couple of miles away.
The small house has three bedrooms - 2 with adjacent baths, and an additional bedroom with 2 sets of bunk beds.
This house has character and most renters want to come back - try our affordable rates and see for yourself!

We loved staying here! The house is so unique and charming with its location, wood stove, brick floors and comfortable family layout. It’s nicely decorated and the new kitchen made cooking family meals so easy. Maggie also made sure we had everything we needed (from kitchen supplies to linens to firewood.) The pictures don't do this gem justice. It was perfect for our family of four and my kids can't wait to go back. They loved exploring the woods around the house and peeking in the sap buckets. The location was convenient to Stratton and yet felt very private. Maggie was great to work with and handling the details was very easy. We’ll be back. Thanks so much Maggie!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We had an excellent time at this cozy Jamaica rental. It is very close to Stratton Mountain (just a few miles) and the house was in excellent shape. We especially enjoyed to the wood stove- it warmed the entire house quickly and created a very welcoming atmosphere. Great Price as well! Highly recommended.Did you find this review helpful? This is our perfect spot. We spent a month in this comfortable, secluded home. It met all our needs which are tranquility, accessibility to hiking, cultural events and a comfortable place to nest and rest. This home provides all thr joys of being in nature along with the comforts of home. Although there is access to TV and internet, we had little need of them. The house is reflects the warmth of the owners. We highly recommend this well maintained property.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and some friends stayed at this home for a ski weekend and it was such a delight. THe pictures do not do it justice - there is plenty of space, the kitchen was fantastic (we like staying in to cook) and the overall ambiance made for a relaxing weekend. We could not have been happier with the home and plan to try to rent again in the future!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I agree with the previous post, the photo's do not do this home justice. The common area's are large but still quite cozy. The kitchen is very well stocked with modern appliances- we cooked all meals here. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We were a group of 4, but this house could certainly accommodate more very comfortably. Additionally this location is absolutely perfect. A quick drive to the slopes but secluded enough to provide (a much needed) respite from the city. There is a great little hike just up the hill. Maggie was wonderful to deal with- quick to respond and flexible when things (on my end) got a bit mixed up. All in all this was truly the best experience I have had using VRBO.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

I went in the beginning of January and I can say that it was beautiful. The kitchen is spectacular and the cabin was perfect for two to three couples. Note that the extra bedroom would be great for kids because of the bunks but a third couple could use it as well. The pictures do not do justice to the cabin at all. The common area (living room) was much bigger than I thought and really made for a perfect location to hang out after a long day at the slopes. I will point out that you absolutely need four wheel drive or all wheel drive to get up the hill to the house if there is snow on the ground. There is no way a car will make it, thankfully we brought the Jeep. The wood stove was nice for a rustic feel and I had no problem with it at all. If you are the spoiled type or do not feel like dealing with a fire though, you might want to look elsewhere. It was only a ten minute ride to Stratton and though the cabin is not related to the resort, the people at Stratton were very nice and the mountain was extremely fun to ride. It is a very family friendly mountain. I highly recommend this rental. The owner Maggie was amazing to deal with and made me feel very comfortable with renting. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Actually, if I return to Stratton I will try my best to do come back here.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

Pikes Falls waterfall View on map
Beautiful waterfall and great swimming hole. Park on the side of the road near the white house on your right and brown house on your left that sits above the falls. You are likely to see another car, or just small pkg area on side of road. Small sign for trial down to falls, on your left coming from the house.
