  Palmas Del Mar is 45 minutes from the San Juan airport. It is a gated and very safe community. Inside Palmas there are many different developments (all gated, no access). Some are on the beach, golf course, across from the beach, or on the marina. This unit is in the new marina (there is an old marina) and there are some amazing yachts to look at and also a view of the ocean. We stayed in February 2012. The unit is multi leveled and there are a lot of steps. There is a covered parking space in front of the villa, big enough for a car and a golf cart. I would recommend renting a golf cart (about $55 per day). All bathrooms were clean and new with beautiful beige tiles and had great water pressure in the showers. The kitchen is clean and large and has all top of the line appliances. The patio is semi private and there is a roof top deck with amazing views, At night you can sit on the deck and look at the incredible stars (feels like you are in a planetarium). The air conditioning worked very well and there are many ceiling fans too. You can walk to the beach, but it is rocky by the villa, so you can take a 5 minute stroll on the beach to a calmer area. Sit by the Beach Bohio for food, drinks and restrooms. There is not a pool in this development, so if you are a pool person, ask the owner for passes to the Beach Club. Renters can use it only Mon-Fri and you have to pay per person. The Beach Club is beautiful and well worth the money. We are a family of 5 and it was $85 per day. There is a casual restaurant and bar, a large gorgeous pool, a few chairs on the beach, water and sand volleyball, basketball in the pool, ping pong, water slides, a kids water area, plenty of umbrellas to shade you from the hot sun, Towels are supplied at the Beach Club. We were nervous going through VRBO (we always stay at top notch hotel/resorts) and emailed the owner a few times to ensure it was legitimate. He returned emails almost immediately and everything was as stated, no negative surprises. He returned our security deposit, via Paypal, the third day we returned home. I would highly recommend this villa. Be careful with other villa's at Palmas Del Mar, many are very old and may not be updated. This is a new villa, in a new development.

  The Villa was very comfortable, and accomadated six adults and five kids. The kitchen is spacious, as are all of the rooms in the Villa. Washer and Dryer definitely a plus for long stays. The Hot Tub was also very relaxing. The property was in great condition, and any problems that came up, the owner handled in an expedited manner. I would recommend this villa to anyone looking to get away and have nice walks along the beach or harbor. The city of Humacao is close by, there is a childrens pool in the Humacao beach that is very nice. Food wise there are a couple of restaurants inside Palmas, as well as in the city of Humacao. We ate at Casa Rustik, there is not AC but the food was great. Drive around Humacao and you will find plenty of places to eat at. There are also many shopping strips where you can find any number of deals, and as usual a Walmart, Ralph's (supermarket), etc...

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

  The unit was amazing, very spacious and comfortable. My family was able to enjoy the unit, while taking advantage of the 4 second walk to the beach. With an amazing roof top that had lounge chairs and a jacuzzi, really makes it feel like a vacation. The unit was well worth every penny spent.
