Located on a beautiful sand-duned peninsula only a few yards from Pere Marquette Beach on Lake Michigan. About the same distance the other way are beaches on Muskegon Lake. Surrounded by decades old beech, oak, and maple trees in the historically famous Bluffton neighborhood. The yard is one of the largest in the vicinity. Perfect for kids to run around in view away from traffic. A partially covered patio in the back allows outdoor seating during the warm, summer rains. Have your morning coffee outside when the sun is first peeking through the trees. Coming home from the beach in the later afternoon is perfect with more shade & cool summer breezes off the lakes. Dinner inside, out, or at a nearby restaurant and seeing another awesome sunset ends a perfect day. Hi-Speed Wireless Internet. LED HDTV in Upper Level Living Area. Central Air Conditioning keeps the cottage as comfortable as you want, no matter how hot it is outside. We're sorry for our potential guests that want to bring their family dog. We have a very strict policy of ABSOLUTELY NO PETS. Hopefully, you can find someone to keep an eye on them at your home.

Upper Level Living Area: We are most proud of our new Central Air added Spring(2012), but, the most asthetically pleasing is the Harvest Oak simulated wood flooring laid down in the living area & master bedroom of the Upper Level. Two antique, matching swag stained glass hanging lamps are at each end of the living room. An HDTV is mounted out of the way on the wall next to the couch & comfortable recliner. The Flat Screen TV can be seen from any angle with it's 4 Way Mount. A Blu Ray DVD Player can provide your own personal movies. A nice stereo below the TV is also a docking station for you to charge your unit while playing your very own tunes. An antique quarter-cut oak pedestal table/4 chairs faces the yard & wildlife feeding stations. New windows have been added to both bedrooms & the living room . More new windows have been added in the upper level kitchen & bath in Spring(2012). Plans for more new kitchen windows and other improvements will happen during Spring, 2013. The queen bed in the master bedroom has a nice wood headboard to match the 1920's antique dresser/mirror & bedside table. An antique student folding desk seat is nice for tying shoes or changing clothes. The 2nd bedroom has a large closet, dresser along-side adult sized bunk beds. The bath has a shower/tub, along with the sink/cabinet & stool. A list is on the fridge of all the items in the kitchen & where they are located. Everything needed in a kitchen is there. Also, a nice table with 3 cushioned chairs . The 4 burner stove/oven is gas. The living room wood stove was removed and replaced with a desk for computer work with multiple electrical plugs for charging several devices.

Lower Studio Flat Amenities: This Area could almost be known as a 'Home within a Home' . It's a nice secluded getaway for adults or kids while having all the amenities of a much larger apartment or flat. Our newest addition to this area(Spring 2012) was a larger, Queen Bed. The walls & trim have been painted with a brighter color scheme than before. The newer carpet is top quality. A beautifully finished antique chifferobe(chest of drawers with clothes hanging area & mirror) is our nicest antique furnishing. There are many more top quality antique furnishings throughout the cottage. The TV/Stereo cabinet area is located more out of the way and more visible on it's side to side swivel. A portable stereo/CD player is also provided. We also added new carpeting in the entrance area steps. The privacy this space can provide for that extra couple or In-laws to retreat to is handy. It could also be used as a 'master suite' with all the extra space besides the sleeping area. Another use could be as a separate area for the kids to watch their own tv programs. It's not advisable to leave kids in this area that need to be watched more closely. It has it's own private entrance from outside or can be accessed inside through the laundry room. Along with the sink in the kitchette, there is a double laundry sink, a sitting only toilet/stool, large shower, clothes washer & dryer.

Landscaping/Yard: We do some things to make the yard area better each year. We add more annuals & perennials. A wooden fence along the back border is nicely stained & looks great, while providing privacy. The rest of the plant life that fills in along the borders also give a natural privacy aspect. Although, the yard is one of the largest in the neighborhood , people walking by hardly notice it's being used with the greenery border growth. There is another area farther away from the cottage with a 2nd picnic table. We call this 'Boston's Nature Preserve'. Tiger Lillies surround this setting. Two bird feeding stations, corn holders for squirrels, & hummingbird liquid holder brings in an abundance of wildlife for some outstanding outdoor entertainment. The yard has sunny areas throughout the day, but is mostly shaded with the surrounding beech, oak, maple, & pine trees. An awning covers a large area of the patio off the back of the cottage. Off street parking for 2 cars.

We are a family of 4 and were very happy with our stay at the Denman's cottage. Everything was as described and we were really comfortable especially with the AC! The backyard is a bonus and our boys (ages 2 and 4 yrs) fully enjoyed the deer, squirrels and birds that visited. The AWESOME beach (Pere Marquette) is a short walk and is the best in the area (we explored many during our stay). So many easy to get to parks and dune adventures made our boys quite happy. A favorite treat was soft serve at the local "Cove" stand. We even managed a trip to close-by Michigan Adventures and blueberry picking. This was our first time vacationing with the boys without extended family and it was truly a delight. The Denmans do an excellent job with maintaining their property and you can tell they really care and want you to have a great time away from home.

This cottage is very clean and comfortable, the owners are very good hosts. We arrived to flowers, muffins and cherries,Stan and Annie also think of everything you may need. The beach is wonderful and just a short walk away, and the neighborhood was very pleasant. My husband and I took our son and his friend, both teenagers had a good time,we all wished we could have stayed longer.I would recommend this cottage, the owners look after this home with pride.

The property was in great shape and the location was very close to the beautiful beach. The beach is very nice and great for kids. The property is also very close to Michigans Adventure. We were very happy with our stay and the property owners were very nice and friendly. Its a great choice if you are looking to stay in Muskegon or near a beach.

We really enjoyed our stay at Pedler's Paradise and meeting Stan and Annie in person. The week went by all too quickly. We came with our two children and two grandchildren and everyone felt that the cottage was great home base for the vacation we planned. Thanks to Stan & Annie for all their thoughtfulness and help. Their descriptions of the cottage and its contents (and the other renter reviews) were accurate and useful.

We had a lovely stay at Peddler's Paradise. Stan and Ann were very welcoming; we had muffins and fruit, fresh flowers, and many homey touches throughout.Travelled with my husband and 2 teenaged sons and there was plenty of space for everyone to relax, take it easy, and find their own fun. Wireless internet was a happiness for my sons. Proximity to local beaches was a real plus. Despite the warm temperatures we slept well and the beds were supportive and comfortable. Was there to visit family and the location was perfect. Very entertaining back yard, even in the rain. Had a blast watching the birds at the various feeders and the different squirrels scramble about. Very nice time at Peddler's Paradise and would consider staying there again. Thanks Stan and Annie

This little cottage with its beautiful yard was truly a wonderful get away. Stan and Annie were most accomodating and the Michigan Cherries and the Muffins were a very welcoming touch along with the fresh flowers in every room. The 2 minute walk to Pere Marquette a real plus. If you like it in the pictures you will love it when you get there. Diane & Ed of Shirley, MA

The trick is to rent one with charm and character. We have rented cottages from Maine to the Carolinas and this one ranks up there with the best. Lots of the "little things" make this little house enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to bring every little spice, knick-knack or even charcoal to the house. It was already supplied. Beyond that, Stan and Annie take steps above and beyond the call of duty to make the renters feel at home. You are a short walk to the beach and if I would wind up in Muskegon again I would rent this cottage for a second time around. Eric and Kelly C. Oley PA

This ad is the most accurate I have experience. Pedler's Paradise is immaculately clean. Stan and Annie provided fresh flowers, muffins, and cherries to welcome us. The lilacs were beginning to bloom when we arrived. I mentioned my wish to get some and 2 days later, Stan left me 2 huge fragrant bouquets. We were in Muskegon for a family gathering. Pedler's was a great place to retreat to after too much family. I would love to keep this retreat a secret, but honestly, I would highly recommend staying here.. This is absolutely the best cottage we have ever rented. Quaint, cozy, intriguing decorations, and well equipped with the best landlords one could ask for. Happy memories are made at Pedler's Paradise.

Three of us stayed at Pedler's for a late summer weekend in August 2008, the cottage was very clean and comfortable and Stan and Annie were very friendly and helpful setting up our weekend. The location is great, only minutes from the water and very quiet. The backyard was also a fantastic place to relax and watch birds come to the feeders Stan and Annie have set up.

                                          Year Purchased: 1986

About the owner: Growing up in Speedway, IN and attending Ball State University was Stan's background before coming to Muskegon in 1968. After teaching, coaching, part time administrative duties at the High School & Middle School for about 30 years retirement came along. Annie grew up in nearby Whitehall and graduated from Western Michigan University. She travelled all over the world spending most of her time in the Caribbean and ski areas out west in Colorado & Utah. She has been with Stan for over 2 decades. They live only 1/2 mile from both cottages. The picture is from a recent vacation in Oct. 2012 with a stop at Zion National Park.

                                          Why the Owner Chose Muskegon:
After 14 years of living all around the Muskegon Area Stan got his chance to buy a home in area that felt the most like home than anywhere else. Stan saw this property for sale & wanted to buy it, but it was already sold to someone else. Fortunately, Plum Hollow(next door) was put up for sale a few months later. That was in 1982. This cottage(Pedler's Paradise) was again put on the market and Stan didn't miss out this time in 1986. We spent several fun filled years living in Plum Hollow while having a son & his wife, as well as many other wonderful guests, stay in Pedler's Paradise.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The one characteristic that is most redeeming for this cottage, especially in the warm part of the year, is the large yard. Lots of room for kids to play or not feel your neighbors are on top of you. Other wonderful benefits would be it's close proximity to Lake Michigan and/or Muskegon Lake. It's very convenient to have both houses as an option for large or multiple families to stay at the same time and have lots of extra room inside & out. Having so many large trees(mostly Beech) around both properties provides lots of shade with lake breezes on hot summer days & nights.
