SPECIAL: Split your stay of 7 or more days with our villa, property #115470

The warmth of a home, Not your typical rental: • The apartment has been in our family and well loved since it was built in the early 1950s.

• Discover Rome the way the locals see and experience it: In a typical Roman neighborhood in the unique and desirable area of Piazza Bologna, central and well connected, yet still functional for the daily needs of its residents; with grocery stores, post offices and markets, all within easy reach. Renting an apartment further in, in the historical center, overrun by tourism and offices, might defeat the whole purpose of staying in a private home. Having a kitchen without easy access to groceries or the use of an elevator to carry it upstairs, might prove less than ideal. Being able to return to quiet surroundings at the end of a busy sightseeing day is what makes it feel like home.

One more reason to choose this apartment: • The Best of two Worlds: All the availability and ease of communication offered by rental agencies based in the US, plus the knowledge and personal touch of dealing directly with the owners: The owners are two siblings, one lives in Italy, and one in the US. You can count on a direct contact and point of reference with one of us both prior and during your trip! Ciao : )

Exploring the Roman environs: Two ways to explore the Region around Rome:

1) The apartment is conveniently located at 0.6 miles from the Tiburtina train Station + the Piazzale Tiburtino Bus Terminal: From there you can reach many destinations in a short time. Assisi, Spoleto, Siena, Arezzo, Florence, Pompeii, Naples are all easy day trips. Feeling like tasting the roman wines of Castelli Romani (the hill towns to the East of the city)? Get to the Termini train Station (a 5 min underground ride from Piazza Bologna) and catch one of the trains for Frascati, famous for its light white wines and restaurants. We also highly recommend a visit to the coast and the ancient Roman harbor of Ostia Antica and/or a visit of Tivoli and its marvelous Hadrian Villa and Villa d'Este. All of these destinations are very easily reached by public transportation.

2) In for a real taste of the Roman Countryside and the Etruscans? Divide your stay between our Rome apartment and our Countryside Villa - property #115470 on HomeAway.

We had 4 adults (husband & wife with our 2 college age daughters)- all active and mobile. The listing description and photos, etc were accurate and the property was clean and well- maintained. Anna and Alessandra were very helpful before and during our stay. They also provided us with an information package that was useful to make the most out of our visit. The apartment had more than ample space for our needs. The area was safe and convenient. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon and had a delightful lunch at the restaurant next door (good food and friendly father and son - we went back a couple times). We walked from Termini Station (recommend taking Metro or taxi in hindsight unless you are up for a vigorous walk with luggage). We mastered the Metro quickly and saw everything we wanted to see in Rome on this trip and more. We ventured out in the morning and returned home in the evening to our quiet neigborhood. We enjoyed going to "The Meeting Place" at Bologna Piazza for gelatto or drink and use of free WI-FI. They had an evening special of food and a drink for reasonable price. There were markets close by for groceries. On our fourth day, we took the Metro out to the sea side for the day which was surprisingly easy. We were very active and found this property was perfect for our needs. We also stayed at their Villa in Orte area which also excellent.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

"A comfortable retreat in a bustling city" We (couple, child and grandparent) stayed four nights in this wonderful apartment in a lovely residential neighborhood and quickly came to feel like it was our private oasis in an otherwise bustling city. From the very first contact, the sisters (one in us, one in Rome) who provide the apartment were helpful, giving us lots of information and making the process quite simple. We were met at the apartment after a quick and inexpensive cab ride from the main Rome train station by alessandra, who showed us around the apartment, explained all of the systems, keys, etc, and made us feel very welcome, including a gift of local wine and pastries! The apartment has two bedrooms that easily slept the four of us, with a living/dining room, a sizable, traditional, eat-in kitchen, and a full bathroom, complete with washing machine. The entire place is decorated in typical Roman style and feels comfortable and homey, but with important modern amenities like fast, wireless Internet access. Our favorite spot was the balcony with a table and comfortable chairs where we ate breakfast each day and enjoyed the summer's evenings with a drink to unwind after our days of sightseeing. The apartment is quite close to stores, restaurants and cafés and is just about a 10 minute walk to the closest Metro station, Bologna. There were a few small grocery stores that sold all we needed to cook at home a few times, and take-away pizza and other treats were close-by as well. This apartment is a perfect spot away from the hordes of tourists, where you feel much more a part of a Roman neighborhood. It is quiet and private, yet just minutes away from the excitement of Rome. Perfect for couples or families.

"Delightful stay in a comfortable apartment" The apartment was spacious and comfy, and in a safe and quiet neighborhood. There were ample amenities nearby. Anna and Alessandra were wonderful to work with, and the rental process was a breeze. We would gladly stay here again if we're in Rome for an extended period of time.

What a delightful trip we had, made even more so by the wonderful accommodations we had in this apartment. It was beautiful and so nicely equipped with everything we needed. We had four in our group and had plenty of room for all. The apartment is just a hop to the Metro station and from there we easily toured Rome. The pre-information Anna sent us was amazing and we followed all of her suggestions to the letter. It was such a fantastic time and a wonderful place to return to at the end of long days. We threw our coins in the fountain, so we certainly hope to return. Ciao!

We just returned from a 5 day stay and the apartment was perfect. The Apartment fely like home after a long day seeing the Rome sights. Its close to the metro station, about a 10 minute walk. A very nice grocery store was on the way back from the metro so you can make a nice meal when you get back. The beds were very comfortable and the balcony was great. Great little coffee shop just a 3 miute walk from the apartment. IMy wife and I were very happy with our decision to stay here.

We and our friends, a total of four retired people, stayed four very enjoyable nights at the "Le Terrae" apartment in Rome. The apartment was large and well equipped for "home" cooking and had laundry facilities. It was very clean and well maintained. It is located in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance to the Bologna Metro Station where one can access all the sights. The owners, Anna who handled the booking and Alessandra who met us at the apartment were very helpful and VERY nice people. They took extra efforts to make our stay comfortable, including maps and recommendations of local restaurants and other sites in the neiborhood. We felt that we were staying in a typical Roman home, not a commercial rental. A wonderful stay.

Siamo stati ospiti dell'appartamento Le Terrae a Roma quest'estate. Come a casa. Siamo stati molto soddisfatti.

This apt. was very comfortable (especially the beds), and we enjoyed being in a non-touristy neighborhood. We were met by Alessandra and even though we locked ourselves out of the apt. one night and she had to make a special trip into the city to rescue us, she was wonderfully sweet. She left us a plate of delicious pastries which went well the "best cappuccino" in town around the corner. It was nice having 2 bathrooms in the apt. along with a washing machine and dishwasher. We never took the bus but the nearest Metro was about a 10 minute brisk walk. All in all a great visit to Rome and I would stay in this apartment again.

The apartment is spacious, clean, easy to get to by Metro or Bus, and is in a nice quiet neighbourhood. We are two retired couples from Canada who thankfully followed the advice of our host and decided not to stay in the touristy parts of Rome. We visited Trevis Fountain, Spanish Steps, Coloseum and the Vatican by bus and Metro, both of which are easy to access from the apartment. We were met at the apartment by Alessandra who introduced us to the appliances and toured us through the apartment. This was a treat. We spent Happy Hour each evening on the wonderful balcony before going for dinner to the nearby restaurants recommended by Anna, our host. They were excellent and not overpriced. One recommendation, after watching people struggle with luggage through the Termini Metro station, is to hire a driver at the aiport. We lucked into Andrea with a mini van. He found the apartment after only one phone call, and returned to pick us up 4 days later, to deliver us to Civitaveccia for our cruise. All in all we spent a wonderful 4 days in Rome (our first visit), while staying in Anna's apartment.

This trip was our eleventh to Italy. Previously, we had stayed in cities and small towns. We've rented apartments and houses that were ideally located, but in some cases noisy. For a change, my wife and I were seeking a quiet apartment in Rome that was close to the many attractions that Rome had to offer. We couldn't have made a better choice. The apartment is in a quiet neighborhood, but within blocks of buses that will take you to just about anywhere you want in a maximum of 30 minutes. The apartment is on the fifth floor but has an elevator that was never out of order. By most Italian standards, this is a very large apartment. There is a living room, dining room, two bedrooms, two showers and one jacuzzi bath. The kitchen is spacious with all of the necessary utensils and dishes one could want. Most of our home-prepared meals were eaten on the spacious balcony, which seats four or five comfortably. Unlike many rental agencies, the owner met us when we arrived and answered any questions we may had. Super markets, bakeries and other stores were within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone seeking a comfortable, quiet but accessible place in Rome.

Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
