My family of four, which includes two children ages 9 & 12, loved A La Maison. Christine was welcoming and came to greet us, and we were very happy with the property and its proximity to all the things we wanted to do in the area. The home was very clean, the kitchen well equipped, the games for kids very nice, the swings in the back well used, the front porch and upstairs deck very relaxing, and everything about the place very much like home and comfortable. We stayed for 5 nights, because we knew we would want to visit Victoria, B.C. for the day, Hurricane Ridge, Sequim for the birds, Lake Crescent for hiking, and on our way there we loved Cape Flattery with its puffins and other seabirds and the museum at Makah Indian Reservation. On the drive out to Cape Flattery we must have seen 30 bald eagles along the water, amazing. What a great location for seeing so many things, but still having a base camp to come home to and relax each evening. Thank you Christine for providing such a wonderful home for people to stay in while they are travelling.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

During the week of August 8, 2011, we spent three days at A La Maison. We travelled quite a bit to get to Port Angeles and stayed in hotels in Oregon and Idaho along the way. It was such a relief to arrive at A La Maison and find a perfect home to settle into! The house itself was the perfect size for our needs (two adults, two children). We chose the bed downstairs and the kids stayed upstairs-it was perfect for them, with one large bed and a smaller day bed. The boys lounged up there even when they were not sleeping-I think they enjoyed having their own floor. The small bathroom upstairs was perfect for their needs. The boys most enjoyed the swings outside-in the age of Ipads and video games, I’m sure these eleven-year-olds had forgotten how much joy there is in swinging. They spent a lot of time on the swings talking and laughing (and I did a little swinging myself!). I loved the garden-such a perfect place to relax, with a number of sitting areas and lovely flowers. The kitchen was perfect for our needs-loved the small table for meals. We were really pleased with the washer and dryer also-such a luxury while on vacation with two boys! The location of A La Maison was also perfect for our needs-within a mile of the downtown area of Port Angeles, but far enough out to feel like we were not in the center of too much. I loved coming home to neighborhood every night…and close to the grocery store also! Thanks so much, Christine!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Jennie, come back anytime...you left the house immaculate and I'm happy the kids had a good time! Christine

We recently traveled to Port Angeles to visit family and had the great pleasure of staying at "a la Maison". The house and locaton was a perfect fit for our stay! What a delight to arrive and find this well-appointed cozy little cottage right off Hwy 101 in the heart of the charming Cherry Hill neighborhood. It became the ideal base of operations for our week long stay. We could entertain family with ease in our own fully equiped home away from home. The yard is large, lovely and just perfect for family gatherings - it even has swings and a sandbox for little ones! Exploring the area was easy from this central locaton - the beach, the rain forest, Hurricane ridge and downtown shops. Spots we especially enjoyed: Salt Creek beach area, Grannie's Cafe and L.D. Woodfire Grill. Christine has done such a wonderful job with "a La Maison" and is such a friendly and helpful host. I highly recommend her special home for your stay in the Port Angeles area!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Dear Christine- Having grown up in Port Angeles as a young boy and visiting my grandparents many times over the years, it was as though we had come home! a La Maison was so inviting and relaxing! Our stay was truly delightful as we enjoyed the cozy furnishings and garden setting. We enjoyed pushing the swings and playing softball on the lawn with the grandsons, bbq'ing, examining the many wonderful plants in the gardens and stargazing after the lil tikes went to bed. We just couldn't stand to leave and can't wait to return!!! Absolutely a wonderful place - we'll consider this our home away from home! Thank you, Christine, for all the love you've put into this place!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

What a great place to stay! We can't thank you enough for the warm hospitality and kid friendly atmosphere! Our boys loved the "vacation home" and so did we! The Olympic National Park was beautiful and we managed to get some great hikes in with three small boys! Thanks again for all the "extras" and we will certainly spread the word and be back ourselves.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Dear Christine, We cannot express what a warm feeling your little get away home has. The pictures on the internet do not do it justice. Sitting on the porch is so serene, quiet,...how relaxed we feel! We had so much fun cooking sea food -- playing family games and laughing :) FUN! So awesome just what we wanted our family vacation to be-- You went our of your way by having all the little special extra touches -- soaps, lotion, a few of the comforts of home. Compliments to you on the cleanliness of the Little Home! We've done quite a bit of traveling and your home is on top of the list. We would love to come back with family. My favorite is sitting on the front porch and listening to the waterfall.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
