From our guestbook: "Even though we 'lived here' for 30 days in 2010, it's still a feeling of vacation to return. The snows of 2010's white Christmas are lingering into the new year here at High Country Fever but the rain of Jan 1 is cleaning things up quickly. Roads are pretty clear and fog hasn't been a problem but has remained around the fringes. Businesses have been open today with lots of customers since the rain/ski combo isn't popular. Here at the cabin things are cozy as usual. The fire is glowing and books whispering out loud to be read. The overstuffed chair begs for company to curl up within it's arms, pull on a throw and enjoy hot cocoa. It doesn't get any better than this. Thanks and Happy New Year"

We hiked up Shadow Mountain Lane and spent some quiet time by the waterfall at the top. We also hiked down Tweetsie Lane to the water fall by the bridge. We only took one journey away from the cabin by car over to Valle Crucis to the Church of the Holy Cross to hike to the waterfall behind the church - Well worth the trip – and spent time inside the sanctuary of the church – Beautiful! We took a hike to the waterfall and enjoyed the fall leaves and air; something we don't get in Florida. We also went golfing in Mountain City, TN and horseback riding at Leatherwood. We walked to the waterfall and drove to Mt Mitchell – the colors were spectacular! We enjoyed the hot tub and an amazing and romantic dinner at the GameKeeper. We both tried rattlesnake, ostrich and buffalo - lovely restaurant. We enjoyed our quiet time at High Country Fever and will return again, as we are counting on having many, many anniversaries! From our guestbook in the cabin: " Oct 7 -10, 2010 - It was a perfect fall weekend in the mountains. The cabin was perfect as well. We enjoyed sitting on the porch looking at Grandfather Mountain. The hot tub felt wonderful on the cool nights. Our dogs loved all of the smells on our walks. We went to Boone Friday morning and ate at Woodlands BBQ and ended up in Blowing Rock. On Saturday we went to Sugar Mountain for Oktoberfest which was a lot of fun. Enjoyed a few football games and now ready to head back home after a relaxing, peaceful and fun weekend. My fiancé surprised me with a vacation here – what a surprise ….Hot stone massages at Ashi, dinner at Zuda’s and the Gamekeeper! Wow. Racing wolly works at the festival, wine tasting, hiking and hot tubing. Best part was just sitting on the couch with our dog Ziggy with the fire roaring and direct TV so fiancé could watch the gamecocks. Thank you! Great birthday, now engagement trip to celebrate. From our guestbook in the cabin: "10-24-10-31 Our week here has gone by much too fast!! The leaves were beautiful and the early snow (2+ inches) was a special treat. We enjoyed walking in the neighborhood and discovering the lake at the top of the roadk, hiking at Moses Cone park, Grandfather Mountain and off the parkway and of course the hot tub especially when it was snowing. Our snowman venus the hot tub were even more fun. Haley our corgie was in nose overload all week - she had a blast! We ejoyed everything about the cabin and we'd lvoe to come back. My mom and I just spent too short a vacation (3 nights) at this beautiful cabin. It is located in a perfect, central location, it is clean, beautifully appointed, with privacy and the comforts you need after a good long day of sightseeing and hiking. Did I say cozy? We look forward to a return trip!
