PANORAMIC OCEAN AND DIAMOND HEAD VIEWS. Its a première residential lifestyle--unlike Waikiki. You can expect high quality furnishings, awesome views, and location, location, location--all within a safe walking distance of Waikiki's famous beaches, shopping, dining and nightlife.
There is no real need for a car as you won't want to leave this highly desirable Gold Coast neighborhood with everything you need and more within walking distance.
This is not some tired Waikiki hotel room. This is DIAMOND HEAD! Completely renovated in 2009 with all new Travertine floors, Cherry Wood cabinets, African Ivory granite counter tops, White Plantation shutters, Memory Foam king bed, White Leather Chairs, Koa furnishings, Kohler Bath products, 40' Sony no-bologna HDTV 1080p & Sony Blu-Ray DVD, Digital Cable, FREE Password Protected and Secure Wi-Fi, TRADES and VIEWS.
It is also a non-smoking hotel and residence with QUIET hours from 10pm to 7am and an owner's policy for no pets and ocean equipment in the room (we have surf racks for rent). Maile Penthouse is located within walking distance of Waikiki, but far enough away from the 'excitement and buzz' that you can sleep with the windows open and hear the ocean (instead of Waikiki's cars, music, etc).
There is an ice machine and laundry room in the basement. We have surfboard racks for $2.50/day and limited parking which must be prearranged, so let me know if you want parking.
The BEST reasons for selecting Maile Penthouse are: AWESOME OCEAN VIEWS, QUALITY OF LIFE AND LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Please read my guest's comments and see for yourself. Maile Penthouse is a great dream vacation location! And a once in a life time experience for most!

Great spot, I was here a week, the longer I stayed the more I liked it!Owner response: Aloha Will, I'm glad I had availability for your short notice trip, and that the location supported both your work and play needs! Because all work and no play is not a part of our island vocabulary! A Hui Hou, jd

Jan, we enjoyed our stay there and it was everything you said it was. Your attention to detail with the fitout and with what was provided was excellent, although we were trying to find a jug to boil water. Not sure if you would normally just use the coffee machine or microwave? It was no big deal, however. Thanks and regards,Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Aloha Jan, We had a wonderful "locals living here for a couple of weeks" experience this stay. The space is brilliantly organized and aesthetically up-lifing, and the location? No ka oi [the best]! My parents celebrated their 50th Anniversary with my sisters and husbands here too. They stayed in Waikiki and we put my parents in PH1 down the hall. Many convenient and beautiful dinners together, after which we could toddle down to our room for a good sleep with the trade winds wafting through. A wonderful stay, a delightful room, and comfortable access to beaches and plate lunch! Lani Loa! [very heavenly] Mahalo, Maia & LarryDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Jan- This has been a lovely refuge while we deal with aging parents issues. Very quiet and filled with clean air - by wonderful contrast to the hotels on the other end of Waikiki where we've stayed on previous visits. You've thought of every possible amenity to make the week away effort-free. Thank you!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed here for a week in January 2013. It is a quint plush studio. We were quite fond of the views from our penthouse. It is close to Waikiki yet far enough away from the chaos comes with with it. We awoke early and went for walks daily. One of the walks was to Diamond State Park up to the top of the mountain to take in the view and then around the backside and back to the studio about 5-6 miles. The bus runs by often and is reasonable to ride. Went went on underwater scooter rides at Hawaii Kai,whale watching from Waikiki and we climbed Koko Head. We did have a rental car while we were there and the off street parking was easy to master if you are willing to be adventurous. We could easily stay here without a car as everything is close and most of the island tours have pick up locations at the resort hotels near by. Dinning is also quite easy as all typed of cuisine is close by. We at at P F Chang's, Hula Grill, Dukes Moana Surf Rider( which was the most expensive dinning) All of these meals were in Waikiki We have a favorite place not more than a mile away, Side Street Cafe. This Penthouse Studio was a perfect place for us to stay. We hope to return again soon. The location allowed us to explore all the near by highlights without having to drive. We highly recommend the use of this PH rental Cliff & JanRecommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Hello! We have stayed in this building several times and this unit gets top billing hands down! Lovely place to enjoy a perfect vacation. Tips - take the hike on the bluff above Hanama Bay at sunset. -Make the treck to the far west end to Makaha Beach Park. Beyond exquisite - best water/snorkeling/beaching on the island and we have been ALL over! -Hale Vietnam in Kaimuki is FANTASTIC & affordable.Did you find this review helpful? Jan's place really is a gem! This was our first trip to Oahu and we purposely didn't want to be in the heart of Waikiki beach near all the tourists. This was a brief 15 minute walk away from Waikiki yet you truly felt like a local in the more secluded portion of paradise. The inside is exactly as pictured, with amazing views both from the room and directly outside the door (my personal favorite spot). The one point I would make is the bathroom is very...um, open. Just be sure you are extremely comfortable with whoever you go with (there's also a bathroom in the lobby). Jan is amazing as well, I love P2P travel, and having a friendly and forthcoming host like Jan absolutely accentuates the benefits.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

About the owner: I'm a Fortune 25 retiree who loves the ocean - I worked a lifetime to be able to afford the Gold Coast. I know how lucky I am to 'Live Hawaii' and I am willing to share my good fortune with those who are respectful. I have lived on Oahu full time sine 2003 and have been vacationing here since 1992. I know the area well and I am happy to point you in the right direction to ensure you have the best possible time while you are our guest on beautiful Oahu. Maile Penthouse is not some tired old Waikiki hotel room. The Diamond Head Beach Hotel is located on the Gold Coast and in the quiet, exclusive bedroom community of Diamond Head -- but not everyone will appreciate the quiet neighborhood feel. So if this is your first visit to Oahu and you are unsure of where to stay give me a call and I'll do my best to help you land in the right place--even if it is not Maile Penthouse. Mahalo Nui Loa, Jan Davis Proud Owner - Maile Penthouse
Why the Owner Chose Diamond Head:
There is no nicer place on earth than the Oahu Gold Coast with the Pacific Ocean, Kapiolani Park and Diamond Head Crater all at your doorstep. This is a neighborhood with a real community feel. People use the park for family picnics and daily exercise like Tai Chi and Yoga. There are only three hotels in this area and about half of the Diamond Head Beach Hotel building is residential, which contributes significantly to the quiet, neighborhood feel.
The weather is generally 80 degrees, the ocean is clear and inviting, the trade winds gently blow, and the local cultural & ethnic diversity is enviable. Where else can you have all of that and still be in the safety of the United States with immense military presence?
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
VIEWS, VIEWS, VIEWS
Leave your cares and car at home. Take the elevator to the ocean and enjoy a soft salt-water dip in a calm clear blue ocean. Renew your commitment to health with a walk around Kapiolani Park. Or hike to the top of Diamond Head Crater for a breath taking view of Waikiki and all of Honolulu. Relax in the shade of a giant banyan tree with gentle trades and the mesmerizing ebb and flow of the sea. Walk to the Waikiki Aquarium, the Honolulu Zoo or the International Market Place in Waikiki. Savor the flavors of excellent food and fine dining in our neighborhood restaurants.
