What a great place to stay, very clean, quiet, and great host. The location is very convenient for shops and restaurants. The suite is well equipped with all the basics, cleaning materials, plus non-perishable goods in the kitchen. It was a great "home away from home" experience. I would stay here again. Suite on Main is a well appointed suite in a great location. It is spotless and well looked after. We stayed for a month in winter and enjoyed our time here. The photos show it exactly as it was. It's a 1 minute walk from a bus downtown or a bus east-west to Burnaby or to UBC. Getting to downtown takes about 20 minutes with a bus or walk, and the skytrain. There are about 10 restaurants within 5 minutes walk, and lots of shops. Our hosts were always accommodating but never on top of us. We recommend it for anyone staying in Vancouver for a few days to a few weeks.

Lovely stay in Suite on Maine

My husband and I stayed in Suite on Maine for 10 nights last August. The place was immaculately clean and reflected accurately our impression from the photos. We were not expecting it to be SO well equipped with all the basics + cleaning materials + non perishable goods in the kitchen such as salt, sugar, oil, spices, sauces,tea, coffee, etc,etc, etc. which made life so much easier! The owners were very helpful and managed a very fine balance between being there when we needed them and letting us have our privacy when not. Geographically it was very convenient to get into town + enjoying walks to Queen Elizabeth Park, Van Dusen Botanical gardens and swimming at the fabulous Olympic Centre nearby! all in all it was a 'home away from home' experience. The suite is in a great location, just a few minutes from Main St restaurants and access to downtown/Stanley Park. Queen Elizabeth Park is beautiful and a short walk away. We lived in Vancouver for a year previously and never knew about this park, amazing! The hosts are lovely and provided bananas, cookies and milk for us, which was greatly appreciated. We did find the suite cozy for our family of four as any hotel room would be, but the plus of the kitchenette made meals easy and the price made it an affordable option in Vancouver.

Our family loved our stay here. Main Street is one block away and has many shops, restaurants and the bus line. In fact, you can take the bus all the way to Grouse Mtn and enjoy that area. We took advantage of the kitchenette and bought a few groceries at one of the many grocery stores on Main. The room was clean and amply appointed. Really enjoyed the beautiful and quiet garden. Jacob and Ili were so gracious and made us feel very welcome. They recommended the nearby coffee shop-Salt Spring- and it became my favorite morning stop. Would definitely stay here again!

A good start of our holiday!

We traveled from Vancouver to Calgary. Our first stop was the suite. We liked the place. Our son of 3 had all the space (and toys!). The garden was nice to sit but also to play in. Everything is nearby: restaurants, supermarket, shops and the bus stop to the city centre. We don't like hotels and find it wonderful to stay in a house such as the suite. On the advice we visited Science World. This was a good tip. Fun for young and old.

Brilliant accomodation with exceptional sevice

We travelled from Dublin Ireland, to visit our daughter who was due to have a baby and were greeted with a charming hostess in Iliana Perry. The accomodation was very central for everything we wanted, and nothing was too much trouble for Ili. She made us feel very welcome, and I would certainly consider using the facility again if we return to the city. The suite was spotlessly clean and perfect for the two of us. Public transport to downtown Vancouver was only a few blocks away, and it was easy walking distance to our daughter.

It was wonderful and a perfect place to stay. We were close to main street and the bus line. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wanted a quiet place to sleep after busy days exploring the beautiful city of Vancouver! Llana was extremely helpful and a wonderful host, I would stay here again!

Very clean and super nice hosts

We stayed here for a week in Sept 2011. The place was super clean because the owners clean it themselves! When we arrived, there were cookies, milk and bananas waiting which was terrific after traveling. The owners are warm, genuine hosts who enjoy meeting travelers. Their cat, Toefi (sp?), is very sweet and beautiful. The suite is on the ground floor of the house with the owner's family upstairs and another couple in an adjacent suite. Situated in a quiet neighborhood it's just 1 block to Main St. with lots of shops and good restaurants nearby including Grub, Rocky Mountain Flatbread and a Thai place. It's also just a few blocks to a good grocery store. Public transportation is very close which made it easy to take the bus and the Canada Line Sky Train at the King Edward and Cambie station. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

My wife and I stayed in the garden suite for a week in August with our 2 young children. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is amazing for restaurants and sightseeing. We had a rental car and did not use public transport but noticed a Canada line station and bus stops nearby. We enjoyed the food at Lucy's diner, East is East and Ogenki Sushi on Main Street. The suite is not far from the trendy SoMa area in Vancouver and there are lots of indie shops within walking distance. Although you are close to the action the suite is situated on a quiet residential road in a very pleasant neighbourhood. There is a great indoor swimming pool and ice skating within 5 minutes walk - our kids loved that! Our hosts Ilana, Jacob and their son Bar are all really warm, friendly and extremely helpful. The suite is very clean and had everything we needed. Ilana even provided cookies, bananas, bottled mineral water and some other items which was gratefully received after a long journey. The garden is lovely and the cat is adorable. We feel so lucky to have been able to stay here. We couldn't have asked for more. My advice is to book early to avoid disappointment as this place is a real find. Thanks Ilana, Jacob and Bar - we may well be back. Good luck with your studies and future career Bar - I know you are going to be fantastic!

Our first reaction when we arrived was…Wow! My wife and I took our 4 ½ year-old daughter for her second trip to Vancouver and we had a great time! We searched so many websites for a place close to the beach, but when we saw the garden suite, we booked it and we’re very glad that we did. We stayed in the suite for 19 days but we wished we could have stayed much longer. Everything we needed (and more) was provided for us including the cookies, a carton of milk, bananas and water that welcomed us from a somewhat stressful plane ride. There is also a beautiful garden which was one of the great features that attracted us to this suite. This is a fabulous and convenient location whether you have a rental vehicle or if you use public transportation. Also, it is situated so close to the many restaurants, grocery and liquor stores yet is in a quiet neighbourhood. We are also very thankful for meeting Ilana and her wonderful family for their hospitality and honesty….it was difficult for us to leave. Our daughter is especially glad she met Eden and treasures the friendship she had made. We would highly recommend this suite and we hope to make this our “home” base for all our future trips to Vancouver.

I loved staying at this suite. Fantastic location, easy to public transportation and walking distance to Queen Elizabeth Park. The description and photos are completely accurate. The suite was impeccably clean, quiet, and very well maintained. The bed was extremely comfortable. Ilana was a superb host, very personable and totally respectful of my privacy. It was lovely to arrive to a beautiful suite with cookies, milk, and bottled water :) Once settled, Ilana gave me a personal tour of the Main Street area and gave me excellent suggestions for shopping and eating out. I traveled alone to Vancouver and didn't rent a car. I felt 100% safe at all times in this suite and neighborhood. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative. Wonderful stay in Vancouver! My husband and I stayed here in early June for 2 weeks and had a great experience. The suite was perfect for 2 people.The web site pictures and discription for the suite were accurate. What was not listed was how warm and welcoming the hosts were. They worked hard to insure that we had a nice vacation. Upon arrival, we found a very clean, comfortable suite including milk and snacks (since they knew we were arriving late). The hosts really paid attention to every detail to make our stay perfect. The location is good because you are close to all forms of public transportation and the Main Street community is warm and friendly. We have family in the area and will definitely stay here on our next trip.

Awesome property. It's literally one block away from a ton of cool shops, restaurants, and bars, and it's very close to public transit to get to Yaletown, Gastown, etc. The train from the airport took about 20 minutes, and to downtown it was less than 10. We had cookies and fruit waiting for us when we arrived, and the unit was very clean. In total, there were four of us staying here (two couples) and it fit us comfortably. Overall, it was a great experience! Highly recommended.

I stayed for one month with my boyfriend in January. I don't have much to say except that it was the perfect place for us and I am happy I found it. It was the first time for us in Canada. And having spent the month in such a great place made our trip a wonderful experience. We could not have felt more comfortable anywhere else. Everything was super clean, and Ili, Jackob and everyone else was super friendly and extremely helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

An oasis of peace in almost downtown Vancouver!

We rented this charming and beautiful little suite for only two nights to do some sightseeing in the city and we were extremely pleased bij the hospitality and the good care of Ilana. The suite is situated in a very lively neighbourhood, public transport is very easy to access, downtown is only 20 minutes away. And after a busy stay in the city you can relax in the quiet garden with the adorable cat Toffy. If we ever happen to come to Canada again we really hope Ilana will still be renting out the suite for us!

Ilana was a great host!! Travelling with children, I did not want to stay in a hotel. After looking on all kinds of websites, I found Suite on Main. Sure glad we did!! It was a perfect spot... room for my little girl to run in the back yard (to burn off some energy at the end of the day), and room for 3 adults to spread out! It was great!! It was walking distance to so much, and Ilana was great in pointing us in the right direction!! Lots of choices for food, for shopping and for activities! I travelled with a toddler, newborn, grandmother and an 18 year old niece... it was great!! I highly recommend it for families! it was quiet and I musdt say I had the best sleep I have had in a long time!! Close to all the shopping we wanted to do, the aquarium, stanley park... it was great!! Cannot say enough good things about Suite on Main!! Thank you for sharing your home Ilana!

We stayed there for 10 days and had a great time. Ilana was so friendly, warm and easy to deal with, it was a pleasure. The apartment itself was very clean and comfortable; very nice to have the garden right outside our door. The location is perfect if you like a neighborhood setting. There are lots of good restaurants, as well as produce and grocery store, just a block or two away. Public transit was easily accessible; we walked to the skytrain in 10+ minutes, and there are buses on Main St. one block away. Queen Elizabeth Park is beautiful, just a few blocks walk. We actually walked to downtown (long walk) and also to Granville Island (not quite as long). I wished we had bicycles.

We couldn't have asked for a better vacation. The suite was perfect; clean and cozy. Ilana was wonderful and helpful, and made lots of suggestions for places to see during our stay. The neighborhood was great; walkable, energetic, and full of restaurants, shops (there was a record store and vintage store in walking distance from the suite! We swooned!), grocery stores. The neighborhood also has easy access to public transportation (although we spent most of our time taking long walks). We had no idea what to expect, but after touring just about every corner of Vancouver, we declared the suite's neighborhood one of our favorites. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to our friends. We had a wonderful time!

Ilana’s Suite is a home away from home place located so close to every thing in Vancouver. We loved the friendly neighborhood with so many restaurants and coffee houses, the Jewish bakery. The place is very comfortable and cozy even with tree adults. We also loved how easy it was to walk to the Queen Elizabet park- Marvels place even at night with complete view of the city. Ilana and Perry, thanks for your hospitality. We sure will come again.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this apartment or the family. The apartment is very clean and provides everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is easy to access the bus and train line, which is a quick ride to downtown. The apartment has a private entrance but the best part about staying here was meeting this wonderful family. They made sure we had a very special Olympic experience. I had a bad cold and our hostess greeted us with chicken noodle soup and cold medicine. She helped us with train tickets and directions, and they even gave us a ride to the train station. This was way better than a hotel experience and I highly recommend the Suite on Main to anyone looking for a special and unique Vancouver experience.

Listing description is very accurate. Talking about clean the place was spotless. The homemade cookies that were waiting for me when I walked in were very welcoming (and delicious). I rented during the Olympics and the suite is in walking distance to the curling venue. One block to the bus line going either north, south or east west. Very easy to get to downtown, by bus or subway. Easy to get to the suite from the airport using the subway. Did not have a car the whole trip and got around very easily. If I get to go back to Vancouver for a visit I will book this suite again. I have already told friends and family if they are going to Vancouver they need to stay at this property.

Ilana’s Suite was the perfect place to stay for the Olympics! We were so close to everything. Easy walking to public transportation to Downtown Vancouver. The surrounding neighborhood was full of excellent shops and restaurants. We were greeted very warmly by Illana and her family upon our arrival. There were even fresh baked cookies for us! We loved our stay and would highly reccommend Ilana’s Suite to anyone.

"Our stay at Ilana's suite on Main Street is one of our happiest memories as I gave birth to our baby girl there. The suite was perfectly tucked away on a quiet street, yet all the wonderful amenities of the South Main area of Vancouver were less than a block away. Ilana's family were like the extended family we don't have. Her children were like big cousins for my four-year-old boy at a time when he needed some most. The suite has a great lay-out with everything at hand. We had the best of all worlds there and, most importantly, plenty of heart. Tanya Kim and family, Bowen Island."

We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at the "Suite on Main" in December 2009. The place has everything needed for a comfortable affordable stay, with a private entrance from the back garden, and gracious hosts.
